Story
Meet Maggie! Maggie was surrendered to our rescue when her owner could no longer afford to care for her. Maggie is a little overweight but it's nothing that managing her food and going for walks won't fix. She is a bit of a door dasher so you will need to be able to prevent her from getting out. She is a little shy but will warm up. She has had a lot of changes over the last week. She was with her previous owner for 7 years and has no idea what is happening. She LOVES her foster! She spends as much time as she can snuggled next to her. She was groomed and they had nothing but great things to say about her. Maggie had a dental and lost 15 teeth! Once her mouth heals she will feel so much better! She walks on a leash but needs more practice. Maggie is spayed neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and 4DX (tick/heartworm test) negative. Maggie is approximately 8 years old and weighs 20 pounds. She should weigh around 15 pounds. Adoption Fee $350 To meet Maggie, please fill out the application https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAWP/Dog

Story
Angel has spent much of his life being overlooked. He came to us from the Yuma Humane Society after spending far too long without a family to call his own. To our knowledge, Angel has never truly known what it means to have a consistent, loving home—and that breaks our hearts. But despite everything he’s been through, Angel still wants to believe in people.Because of his past, Angel carries some deep-seated insecurities. He’s still learning how to feel safe in the world, and he needs someone who can guide him with calm confidence and patience. He’s looking for a person who isn’t just loving, but who can offer the steady leadership he’s never had—someone who can show him that he doesn`t have to be on guard anymore. He’s not the right fit for a home with children or other pets. Angel needs a structured environment where he can truly thrive—where his person is not just a caretaker, but a leader, a teacher, and above all, a friend for life.Angel is an active, playful boy who lights up when he’s outside romping around with toys or exploring the yard. He recently spent two weeks at a board and train facility where he made huge strides. He now walks comfortably on a leash, knows basic commands like “sit” and “lay down,” and has started to understand what life inside a home should feel like. His trainer has generously offered to continue working with his future adopter, giving Angel every opportunity to keep growing into the amazing companion we know he can be.Angel is working every day to be the perfect dog—but maybe you aren’t looking for perfect. Maybe you’re looking for a dog that needs you as much as you need them. A dog who, with patience, guidance, and love, will reward you with a bond deeper than words.Angel has so much potential. All he needs is someone willing to believe in him—someone to give him the chance at life and love that he’s never truly had.Could that someone be you?

Story
Taco’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. He came to us from a hoarding and abandonment case in Yuma, where he didn’t get the love, care, or socialization every dog deserves. Understandably, this sweet boy started out very shy and unsure of the world — but beneath that timid exterior is a truly loyal, affectionate, and gentle spirit just waiting for the right person to help him blossom. After spending time in a loving foster home, Taco learned that people can be kind and life can be safe. Once he trusts you, he becomes the sweetest little shadow — cuddling up to you for TV time, gently pawing his bowl when he’s ready for more food, or snoozing happily in a sunny spot by the window (his absolute favorite place!).Taco is still learning the ropes of being a dog in a home:-He’s working on house training and doing well with frequent outdoor breaks and using belly bands.-He’s not destructive, doesn’t chew furniture, and sleeps peacefully through the night.-He’s not crate-trained, but does well in a blocked-off safe space.-He’s a quiet, sensitive soul — loud noises and new people can scare him, but he never shows aggression. Instead, he’ll just back away or give a big yawn to calm himself.-Taco is learning to walk on a leash — gentle encouragement, patience, and a loose lead help him feel secure.-He knows “come” and responds to soft voices and gentle gestures. Some of Taco’s favorite things?-Peanut butter and plain yogurt-Hard chew toys and bones-Warm sunshine and soft beds-Quiet time with people he trustsTaco will do best in a calm, patient home — ideally with someone experienced in helping shy dogs build confidence. He would love a secure yard to explore and a gentle routine he can count on. As of right now, Taco is considered to be a flight risk. His adopter will need to be aware of keeping doors and gates open, as well as fitting him for the correct harness/collars when it is time to go for walks. *Taco would do best in a home with no children or men*He’s been through a lot, but Taco is ready to keep moving forward — one careful, brave step at a time — toward the forever family who will finally show him what it means to be home.Could you be the one to show Taco the world isn’t so scary after all?

Story
Buddy is a sweet, social boy who was found as a stray, but he hasn’t let that dim his sunny personality one bit. At about 16 pounds, he’s the perfect size for cuddles, adventures, and everything in between — and with his adorable looks, he’s sure to win hearts wherever he goes. This charming pup has shown he gets along well with other dogs, has lived peacefully with cats, and has even met a donkey — talk about well-rounded! Buddy’s easygoing nature makes him a great match for many types of homes. We’re not certain if Buddy is fully potty trained, but he’s an eager-to-please dog who thrives on social interaction and will likely pick up routines quickly with a little patience and consistency. If you have another dog at home and would like to meet Buddy, we recommend bringing them along for a meet-and-greet to ensure everything goes smoothly.Buddy is a lovable, happy boy who’s ready to give his heart to a family of his own. Come meet him and see if he’s the perfect new friend for you!
