Story
I got Luna, April 2020 just at the beginning of the pandemic. She is a fantastic companion. She goes in and out of the dog door even when it's raining outdoors. She has never gone to the bathroom in the house. She is a good walker but slower now that she is a senior dog. I estimate her age as being 12 or 13 years old. She is hard of hearing so I get her attention when I whistle. And her vision is not as good as it used to be. Unlike most Chihuahuas, she is actually really quiet. The only time that she barks is when she wants to eat. She sleeps in her dog bed with a blanket over her. She has a lot of fibrous growths on her body, but they are not cancerous. She has had them since I got her. She has recently had her teeth cleaned and had about 9 teeth extracted. She has no medical issues except for occasional pee dribble. I travel often and will be moving soon which makes it really hard to keep her. She a sweet dog who is seeking a loving new home.

Story
WEIGHT: ~22lbs.Meet Marley. Marley came to us from our friends over at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter so if you thought that you recognized him from over there, you would be right! While in their care he spent time in a foster home, and they reported that he warms up quickly and that once he knows you, he just wants to follow you around and jump in your lap. They noted that once comfortable he becomes quite confident and can even be a little bit bossy, so he will need a savvy adopter who is ready to dedicate time to proper training and boundary setting. Since he has been here with us, shelter staff have noted that he has a tendency to exhibit some cheeky puppy-like behaviors such as mouthing and jumping and that he can be a little sensitive to handling so an adult household would likely be best for him. He is liable to chase cats and other small animals, but a home with another dog may be a fit for him provided they meet first at the shelter. He may look like every other tan chihuahua, but he's got personality out the wazoo, and he'll make someone a great little dog. If you think that you might be his person, fill out an Adopters Profile, call the shelter to schedule a meet and greet, or stop by during Browsing Hours Wed-Sun 11-5!

Story
WEIGHT: ~12lbs.Meet Coconut- Coconut came to us from a partner shelter with her friend Cheeky. Little Coco is most definitely the more reserved of the two, but she has slowly been coming out of her shell and opening up to staff and volunteers. Coconut would likely do well in a quiet home without much on the agenda outside of curling up with a good book for a good nap. She lived with other dogs in her previous home, though she was ruler of the roost in that environment, so intentional introductions to new dogs would be a must. Do you have a hole in your life that only a senior Chihuahua can fill? If so, call our adoptions desk or feel free to stop by the shelter during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.
