Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, May 4th at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-3pm, unless he/she is adopted prior to the event. If you see a dog you really want to adopt, then send in an adoption ahead of time so you get the first opportunity to meet and potentially adopt. Otherwise, we welcome all to come meet our dogs! Adoption Fee: $500   Acorn is a 2 year old Chihuahua mix who was surrendered to DPS after being rescued by a good samaritan who stepped in and saved him from a bad situation. While we may not know everything about this guy before he came to us, we know that everything has been coming up 'A-corn' ever since he joined our rescue! This petite dude has been working on his gains, and can’t wait to find a loving forever home to show off his amazing personality in!    Below is a note from Acorn’s foster. “Acorn is a sweet and sensitive little guy who adores his chosen people more than anything else in the entire world. For such a small guy, it is understandable that the world around him is very big, but watching his confidence grow in the time he has been with me has been amazing to see. He likes to stay as close as possible to me as I go about my day and is the world’s most adorable shadow. Acorn is more of a lounger than a playing dog and is happy to snooze the day away in his doggy bed next to you as you work. This boy is so sweet and gentle and took to my house quickly. He has the cutest way of seeking attention, putting his front paws on the couch or my leg and gazing at me with his puppy dog eyes. He loves it when I scoop him up onto my lap for a cuddle.  Acorn wakes up at 7:30 and heads right outside for a walk and potty followed by breakfast. He trots along next to me as I get ready for work and then snoozes next to me as I start my day, getting up when I do to make sure he doesn’t miss the chance for a treat! He gets another meal around lunchtime before his afternoon walk and dinner. We unwind from the day as we watch TV and snuggle. Acorn turns in for the night around 10 PM and happily heads to his crate to dream of treats and snuggles ahead the next day!  Acorn gets along with dogs and would do well with a confident canine sibling who can continue showing him the ropes, but he would also thrive as a solo pup. He walks well on a leash but is still building his confidence around loud noises and sudden movements outdoors. Acorn is such a chill and loving companion once he warms up to you. I promise this guy will be your faithful buddy for life if you are lucky enough to earn his love!”   Acorn is only an option for those with prior dog experience, with shy dog experience prioritized. Another dog in the home would likely be the best fit for Acorn. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10 and understand the needs of a shy dog.  May 5, 2024, 4:44 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   The Chip boys are a litter of 8 week old Chihuahua mixes who are ready to crunch into adventure with their lucky forever homes! The Chips were surrendered to the shelter with their Mama at only 3 weeks old. The shelter is no place for tiny babies, so we quickly sped over and scooped them up. They’ve been growing and living it up in one of our amazing foster homes ever since. This litter is 4 boys, each one more amazing than the last. We expect the Chips to stay under 12 pounds when fully grown, as Mama is pretty petite herself. Open up a bag of your favorite chips and enjoy!    Fritos: Fritos is the adventurer of the pack and wants to make sure you know it! Right now, the only mountains this pipsqueak is climbing are legs and stomachs, but he knows his future is full of adventure. He is the first among the boys to bravely venture into new experiences before he runs back to say “it’s fun, look”! Fritos immediately befriended the resident dogs in his foster home, from the 13 pound grumpy senior to the 90 pound doodle. He just wants to find best friends and make them play with him! Plus, with a name like Fritos, his name already matches the paw smell puppies have to offer!  Lays: Lays is Mr. Mama’s Boy! This handsome pipsqueak is most likely found curled up on a lap as his brothers romp around the yard or pen. Don’t get us wrong, he doesn’t let his siblings have ALL the fun, but he knows where the cuddles and treats are and that’s where he wants to be! Lays would do well with a confident canine sibling in his forever home, as he blossoms under the guidance of an older dog. Lays may be more shy than his brothers, but he is no less sweet. He was the first to start giving kisses as the boys got older and loves snuggling wherever he can. His current favorite cuddle spot? Inside the hood of a sweatshirt as you go about your day. What could be cuter than that? We don’t know!  Pringles: Pringles is a cuddly roly-poly puppy who loves cuddling and zooming in equal measures! This tricolor cutie pie has the best selfie faces and knows how to work it for the camera. Pringles is Frito’s loyal playmate and is most often found following his brother around as they get into their daily antics, but they are so cute it’s hard to get mad at them. Pringles loves sleeping on his back on a warm lap as he gets cuddles and has recently discovered the heated blanket his foster Mama has on her couch. That was a new world of luxury for Pringles! Pringles is going to be a fabulous companion for whoever is lucky enough to bring him home and will help you make new friends wherever you go! Ruffles: Ruffles is the 3 Cs: Cute, Cuddly, Can’t (Get Enough). Ok we know that’s not technically three C’s but we can’t get enough of Ruffles! Ruffles is the perfect blend of puppy. He is cuddly and loves to snooze on a lap but he also adores his zoomies around the yard with his brothers. Ruffles loves finding the toys of his huge foster brother and dragging them around, even though they are bigger than he is! Ruffles has no idea he’s just a tiny little guy and we sure aren’t going to break it to him! Ruffles has a talent for always landing at the top of the puppy nap piles and he snuggles in closely on his brothers. When the boys are racing around, Ruffles is in the middle of the pack with a smile on his face and a wag in his tail. You won’t find a more loyal companion than Ruffles, that we know!    The puppies start their morning at 7 AM with yawns and stretches before they head to the potty pads and do their business. They have their first meal of the day at 8 AM and eat again at 1 PM and 6 PM. Throughout the day, the puppies delight in chasing each other around, playing with their toys, napping in a pile, trying to get Mama to play with them, and soaking up all the love people have to offer them. These puppies are fabulous eaters so we expect training will be a food-motivated ease. In the afternoon, the puppies each get some one-on-one time where they soak up cuddles and kisses. At night, the rowdy boys tumble around their pen as their Mama watches on before they finally decide they are ready for bed. They sleep piled on top of each other and snooze the night away.  The Chips have been well socialized with dogs of all ages and sizes. They would thrive with a doggy sibling or as a solo dog, as long as their forever homes are ready to shower them in love. Adoptive homes should be prepared for all the training that comes with a new puppy and will be expected to demonstrate their readiness for a new addition. The Chips can’t wait to meet you, so head on down to your local grocery store (our adoption application) today!     The Chip puppies are only an option for those who have owned a dog of their own in the last 5 years. We will be seeking separate homes for each puppy, as we do not place siblings together. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.May 5, 2024, 4:44 pm
