Age: Approximately 8 years old Weight: 7 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: No Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: Almost! Crate trained: Yes **Requires another dog in the home** **NO CATS OR OTHER SMALL CRITTERS** Shorty gets upset by cats and other "pocket pets," such as guinea pigs, hamsters, or ferrets, and needs a home without them. Have you been looking for an adorable, affectionate, and silly pup who loves being with people? Meet Shorty! He is as mild-mannered and sweet as they come. If relaxed laid-back evenings are what you seek, look no further… he will not disappoint. Shorty will steal your heart and make you laugh with his idiocrasies and quirkiness as soon as you meet him! Shorty is friendly and enjoys the company of other dogs and his humans. He is just a bit unsure at first of people and new places but warms up quickly! When left alone, he's content being gated in the kitchen with his doggy friend lying on his comfy bed. He loves to snuggle, be near his humans, and adores being pet. He will follow you all over, is very alert and inquisitive, and really just wants to be involved in whatever you’re doing. In the evenings, he enjoys resting on a warm lap watching TV. He is typically pretty quiet but will alert you to sudden or unfamiliar noises. Shorty loves being outside with his humans and has moderate energy, so time outside will be a good outlet for him. His favorite pastimes are being outside, sunbathing, chewing on his braided bully stick, getting freeze-dried treats as rewards, and cuddling with his humans in the evening! He also currently has the luxury of sleeping in a soft, warm bed with his foster parents. Shorty is doing well on potty training when kept on a schedule, with few accidents when going outside and using potty pads. Shorty experienced an injury that affects his balance and coordination, and although he does not have a perfect gait and likely never will, he can walk, run, play, and jump. He can be clumsy at times, and the faster he runs or trots, sometimes he will end up tumbling, but he has never hurt himself and always pops up and keeps on going. He does startle to loud noises and will often suddenly jump up very alert, excited, and clumsily, so having soft landing spots will be helpful. We think all this just adds to his adorable quirkiness and silly ideocracies. Shorty is a little goofball who always keeps us laughing and on our toes! Story
Hi all! My name is Bender but my friends call me Charlie. I am a fun-loving guy looking for my forever family! I was recently returned to rescue because I grew bigger than my previous family was expecting me to get. Their loss because bigger just means more of me to love you with! I am currently about 35 lbs and my mom thinks I’m some sort of yellow lab mix so at 7 months old I will probably still have a little growing to do. I am your typical happy-go-lucky pup who loves to give kisses, cuddle on the couch and play with (destroy) toys. More than anything I love to play and run around with my foster brother as I have lots of energy to burn off. I seem to be good with dogs and people so far although I sometimes bark at them out the window. I met some kids at an event and LOVED them! As I am a puppy, I can get a bit mouthy and jump up on you when we are playing, but I never mean any harm and my mom has me working on it. Speaking of training I know how to sit already and we are working hold/wait commands. Potty training is a work in progress, I sometimes have a hard time holding my bladder when I get over excited or anxious so my mom is taking me out often when I’m not in my crate. I do like my crate okay, I go right in when asked and am pretty quiet overall in there until I get bored or need to go to the bathroom then I whine or bark to get your attention. You need to give me something constructive to chew on otherwise I might nibble on the bedding. I go all night in my crate with no accidents and am generally pretty good during the day when my mom is working as long as we take a few breaks. If I can tell that you are actually leaving I might cry in my crate for the first few minutes. I am currently living in a condo and my mom thinks I would do better with more space and a yard to run around in to help get my energy out. I do pull on a leash and am pretty strong already for my size. Sometimes my mom brings me to a friend’s yard and I am good in the car on the way over and then super excited to race all around when I get there. I am learning how to play fetch too, which is so cool! Although giving the ball back is still a work in progress. I have a lot of love to give, and I would love to give it to you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $575.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 1, 2024, 11:34 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $300 plus taxThelma sleeps in her kennel like a pro all night long and even finds comfort in it during the day.  If you're on a couch, she will find you though and demand snuggles.  She loves to burrow in with blankets and pillows. Almost like she is making a big comfy nest for herself, which has led to me not being able to find her because inevitably the blanket nest is bigger than her! She was great with meeting grand kids. Thelma can and will climb over baby gates and on furniture to get to you. She has acclimated to our resident dogs very well and will require a canine companion in her adoptive home.   * I did test positive for heartworm and will be receiving treatment provided by MARS to live a long healthy life.   *A dog with Heartworms is not directly contagious to other animals. Heartworms are transmitted by an infected mosquito. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
Hello!  My name is Willy Wonka, and I am an energetic, fun loving young dog that enjoys eating and playing. I’m a Chihuahua born 5/23/23. I am learning some skills like sit and down, but I need some more practice.  I also have not walked on a leash before, but my foster mom says I'm doing great so far!  I have not had any accidents here since my very first day (I was very nervous)!  I love my foster sisters' toys and can play by myself or with other dogs, but my foster sisters don't love to play.  I would do great in a home with other dogs but will do fine without them also!  I have some skin issues that we are working to resolve and have gotten some medications for them.  I LOVE food and use my nose to find it all over, so it would be good if you kept food out of my reach.  I have a great personality and love to share my enthusiasm! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
