If relaxed laid-back evenings are what you seek, look no further… he will not disappoint. Shorty will steal your heart and make you laugh with his idiocrasies and quirkiness as soon as you meet him! Shorty is friendly and enjoys the company of other dogs and his humans. He is just a bit unsure at first of people and new places but warms up quickly! When left alone, he's content being gated in the kitchen with his doggy friend lying on his comfy bed. He loves to snuggle, be near his humans, and adores being pet. He will follow you all over, is very alert and inquisitive, and really just wants to be involved in whatever you’re doing. In the evenings, he enjoys resting on a warm lap watching TV. He is typically pretty quiet but will alert you to sudden or unfamiliar noises. Shorty loves being outside with his humans and has moderate energy, so time outside will be a good outlet for him. His favorite pastimes are being outside, sunbathing, chewing on his braided bully stick, getting freeze-dried treats as rewards, and cuddling with his humans in the evening! He also currently has the luxury of sleeping in a soft, warm bed with his foster parents. Shorty is doing well on potty training when kept on a schedule, with few accidents when going outside and using potty pads. Shorty experienced an injury that affects his balance and coordination, and although he does not have a perfect gait and likely never will, he can walk, run, play, and jump. He can be clumsy at times, and the faster he runs or trots, sometimes he will end up tumbling, but he has never hurt himself and always pops up and keeps on going. He does startle to loud noises and will often suddenly jump up very alert, excited, and clumsily, so having soft landing spots will be helpful. We think all this just adds to his adorable quirkiness and silly ideocracies. Shorty is a little goofball who always keeps us laughing and on our toes! I am a smart boy who knows commands like “leave it” and “go potty” but I’m very timid and afraid of things like loud noises, commotion, children, and most people in general! Additionally, I do not like the crate and will yell if I’m in there; I will poo outside, but I wear a belly band inside; and I have limited leash experience because I can’t seem to stop myself from showing off my inner Houdini by wriggling out of my leash and harness. I am, however, always respectful of cats and good with other dogs so I will need a doggie companion when I go to my new home. All that said, once my humans have earned my trust, I am the sweetest, most affectionate little guy you will EVER meet! I am also very playful, and I LOVE to chew and run! That means that not only does my new family need to get the toy box ready with lots of chew toys, squeakers, and bones, but my new yard will need to be securely fenced so I can safely demonstrate my amazing ‘zoomie’ techniques! Full disclosure, I don’t really know what makes up my DNA, but I am guessing 25% ears and a mix of cattle dog and something else. But, let's bring up my oversized ears again … have you seen my photos? SUPER CUTE! Regardless, as far as I’m concerned, I’m just ME…a beautiful and very happy female puppy who simply loves life! My favorite activities include gnawing on big dog bones, playing with any toy that happens to be nearby, and snuggling with my people…especially when I get to bury my long, little body under some cozy blankets! I haven’t met any kids or cats, but I am good with other dogs. I do well on the leash and I’m potty trained, but I do not like that prison cell you humans call a kennel/crate. In fact, I will holler if I’m put in there so let me just say you have been warned! Hee, hee!! Anyway, I’m not much for words…I’d rather cuddle so all I need now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on me. Believe me when I tell you that I am a total sweetheart and if you’ll just welcome me into your world, we will make the most amazing memories together…I promise!
