Hi I'm Buzz!  I'm a happy little guy looking for my perfect family.  I enjoy playing outside and running in the grass enjoying the sun and wind in my face.  If you're my person I get happy wiggles and enjoy scratches and pets.  With new people I can be a bit quirky.  If I don't know you I ask that you give me a moment to know you're safe.  I'll admit I'm better with women than men.  If I'm pushed too quick I sometimes mouth you.  It's not a bite and I leave no mark whatsoever but your hand or finger is in my mouth for just a moment. I do ok with slow intros with calm dogs that ignore me but I would love to be an only dog so I don't have to share your love.  I'd likely be best in a home without kids.  I'm sure you're kids are great but I don't think they're for me.  I love walks and I know how to potty on leash or in a fenced yard if you have it.  I'm kennel trained and doing well on potty training.  I just need a patient family who will love me and give me a chance and you'll see what a great dog I really am.  Are you my perfect match? Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Hello, I’m Nina, a precious and sweet albeit VERY shy female Chihuahua/Bichon Frise mix puppy. I am cautious around people in general and I don’t like loud noises or a lot of commotion, so I’m not sure if kids are a good fit for me! I admit that I follow mom everywhere but it’s not necessarily because I want her attention…I just want to know what she’s up to…unless she’s giving the other pups attention then…of course, I must be part of the action! Hee, hee!! I love playing with toys and eating treats and have even started taking treats from foster mom’s hand…YAY for me!! I am still working on potty training, I don’t have any experience with the leash, and I don’t like the kennel/crate. In fact, I will holler a LOT when I first go into the crate and randomly throughout the night so just for the record, you have been warned! Hee, hee!! Anyway, I have not met any cats or larger dogs, but I do well with smaller dogs like me and will need a companion and a fenced yard at my new home so we can safely explore and play! I am a super smart girl who already knows what “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “leave it”, & “go potty” all mean…all I need now is a fur-ever home with YOU! I simply ask that you love me unconditionally, NEVER give up on me, and that you will patiently allow me the time and space I need to become comfortable in my own way! I have a huge heart that is overflowing with love I want to share, so please be my fur-ever family. I promise we will make amazing memories together!! All my love, Nina I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! *Grooming - this dog's coat may have been neglected before arriving at Underdog and it can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as poodles and poodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment. Adopters should be prepared for such expenses. Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.  **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Story
Welcome Valentine to the CCPAL Rescue. She is a 10-pound Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix. She and the litter were born under a trailer in Texas in the winter. A couple of the puppies didn’t make it. They are 10 months old. Valentine has a beautiful heart on her chest. Despite their upbringing they are very affectionate and like to be petted and cuddled. Their tail has been cut off by the owners and not a vet. They are at varying lengths. A couple of them are cut completely off. Valentine got her Bordatella, Nexguard and her Distemper vaccine today. She will be scheduled for spay soon and get her Rabies. Potty trained, crate trained and leash trained. She was very quiet and loved to be cuddled by the volunteer staff at the shelter. Once you picked them up they came to the front of their kennel ready to be picked up. The car ride was their first one and they drooled and got a little motion sick. They are adorable dogs and very deserving of a new home where they are the center of attention for their family. They would be great for anyone wanting a loving lap companion. They are small enough to be carried easily and while they do have a voice they are relatively quiet for their breed. We would love someone who has owned a Chihuahua before. They are great dogs and not too big of shedders. Their teeth are sparkly white and will not need cleanings for a while. They are in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpal.info/ See her cute video!!

Ernest - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! Ernest Goes To Jail, yes, to my embarrassment and dismay, I was found as a stray and spent some time in the doggie slammer. It seemed like forever!! But thanks to this rescue I got out on good behavior and am ready for that freedom ride! Yes, Ernest Rides Again!!! I'm just hoping your home is my last ride!! I have been working on the whole house and crate training thing and have got it down. I may have spent most of my life outside but I've caught on quickly. I coming to see that this whole living inside with a soft bed and a warm lap to lay on is pretty darn nice!! I would do best in a quiet adult only home. I'm needing my space but will come seeking companionship when I want it. Kinda like a cat in that sense. I do well with other dogs but would prefer a more mellow sibling that isn't too bouncy and constantly in my space. At 9 years and only 11lbs I would make a great family addition for someone that is looking for a great lil guy to chill with them. I'm already out of that destructive stage but still enjoy neighborhood strolls and catching some rays in the backyard. If you're looking for that needy pup that is always under foot seeking you attention, I'm not your boy. But if you want an independent lil guy that is just happy being in the same room, I might just be that lil man!! I would love to be your lil side kick....so what do ya say? Can I come home with you?!!

Good with dogs,
Story
Hi. I am Poppy, a 3-5 year old 6 pound chi mix. I was given the name Poppy because my owner lived on Poplar Street. I came into the rescue along with 3 of my sisters. You see, my owner died and there were 12 of us. The owner's sister reached out and 4 of us were lucky enough to be able to go into the rescue. We had lived in some pretty bad conditions since my owner was sick for awhile and wasn't able to properly care for us. When I arrived, I was pretty shut down. I was afraid to leave the kennel or to go outside to potty. So, foster mom sent me to the foster's house that had my 3 sisters. That was the magic that brought me out of my shell. Now, I'm cuddling with foster mom and sleeping in bed with her. I am, however, still working on the potty game as I am not comfortable going outside yet. I am also learning to walk on a leash. I am good with other small dogs and with older children but large dogs scare me and cause me to shut down. It is unknown about whether I would be good with cats since I haven't been around them. If you are interested in a sweet and tiny chi who is just discovering that there is a big, LOVING world out there, have your peeps call my peeps and we will be right over. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Jack - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! I tried to go up the hill (on my search for a family) with my sister, Jill like the nursery rhyme but it didn't fare well for us either. We were picked up by Animal Control. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately we were taken to a small rural shelter where we were saved by a rescue. Now I have the great fortune of you finding me so I can have that wonderful life I was searching for. I am a youngster at around 9 months. I can be a tad bit shy at first meet but it only takes me a NY minute and maybe a treat or 2 for my silly affectionate nature to shine thru. Then watch out, I'm your typical little boy that is playful, sweet and loves helping keep a smile on your face. I am partially house trained only having an occasional accident. I'm doing well with getting the hang of going outside to do my business and I'm a smart cookie (cuz my foster mom says so!!) and should have it down pat in no time. But I am crate trained and well on my way to being a pawsome lil family member. But you may need to keep your shoes picked up, cuz psst...I like shoes especially flip flops and sometimes I don't remember that they aren't mine! Coming in at my 13lbs I shouldn't get much bigger (depending on my treat intake) and will make an awesome size for well...everything! I'm big enough for your adventures but small enough to not take up the whole couch for my cherished cuddle time. After my playtime I sure do love my cuddle time!! I am active an playful enjoying tormenting my sister, oops did I say that out loud, I meant playing with my sister and the other foster pups here. I would love to have a sibling to romp around the yard, to have a playmate to dine with, nap with and share our days together. Oh my, what could be better then that?! With my short gorgeous coat I am on the low maintenance side of the grooming department. I'm pretty much a wash-n-go type of fella which you know what that means don't ya? That just gives both of us extra time in the spoil me rotten department! Now, that's what I'm talking about!! Sweet and affectionate, playful and energetic, add in my handsome studdliness (I made that word up just for me) and you have the makins for a great family addition. I just don't have that family...yet. Could It be YOU I've been searching for?!

My name is Lion and am a little bit cowardly but am trying my best!  I really want to be friends and will wag my little tail to let you know how excited I am to see you. Although I am a bit shy, I do like to get attention, especially when the other dogs are getting attention. I am close by, but am still timid so keep just out of reach. I know with some patience and time I will learn to trust people. When my people walk by, I will lay down and let my foster mom pick me up. She will carry me around and tell me everything will be ok. I love when she talks to me in a gentle voice. We are working on all the important puppy skills. Potty training is a work in progress – and I do need a fence in my forever home as I don’t have a lot of leash experience. I do need another dog in my forever home to help me build confidence and learn to trust people. Having another confident and social dog will help me get on a routine – because I know I can follow the leader! When we go to puppy school together I know we will learn lots of new things and it will be a great opportunity for us to bond and build confidence. Ready for a little friend that has a lot of love to give? All I need now is a forever family with patience and unconditional love to help me bloom.    *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Hi I'm Almond!  I'm a sweet little lady who is looking for a patient and loving family who will love me for who I am and help me continue to find out who I will become.  You see, when I first came into rescue I was terrified of people.  My foster mama took things slow to gain my trust even when I'd "go squirrel".  What's that mean?  When I was scared, unlike most dogs who run and hide, I'd climb up things in a flash.  I've settled down now and I don't usually climb.  The look of fear I had is now happy and I've even been known to sass mom a bit haha.  I'd do best in a quiet home with no kids.  Their sudden movements and noises would be too scary for me and I don't want to have to hide.  I want to be able to follow you around so I can see what you're doing.  I'm doing well with being held and gentle scratches from my foster mama.  I know I can trust her.  When she needs to pick me up she says ready and I turn away and kind of jump into her hand as she says up then scoops in me close to her.  Oddly enough, I like being groomed.  I'm good in the tub, stay still when she towel dries me and I'm not scared of the hair dryer.  I even seem to enjoy being brushed.  Maybe I just like being pampered haha!  I haven't figured out toys though I watch others with them.  I do need a secure yard and I know I'm supposed to do my business out there. I'm still working on the potty training, so potty pads inside might be a good idea too. I do also need a confident doggie friend that I can follow so I can learn the routine in my new home. Don't worry because I'm smart and catch on pretty quick. My kennel is my safe place and I will pop in and out of it during the day.  If the door is closed I feel a bit more confident and I'll give your fingers little kisses if you stick them in with me.  You can also offer me treats that way and I'll very gently take them from you.  If you have room in your heart and are kind and patient and willing to help me continue my journey into becoming who I was meant to be, then I'll take a breath and do my best to be brave when we meet.   Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi everybody, my name is Jessie, a sweet and shy Pomeranian. I have the softest coat and am a gentle soul.  I’m a shy girl who is getting used to living in a home. I am learning so many new things and like to watch the activity in the house from my comfy bed. My foster mom is very gentle and going slow with me so I learn to trust people. She has started giving me little massages on my head and back - it is so relaxing and is a great opportunity to snuggle together. I am a shy little girl, so having a confident dog in my forever home is required. Another dog will be helpful to show me the ropes, help me get on a routine and help me feel comfortable in my surroundings.  Foster mom tells me with a little time and a lotta love, I will come out of my shell and be a great friend to my people. A lot of commotion and noises still startle me, so a quiet home would be ideal so I can continue to learn.  Potty training is going great, my foster mom carries me outside and I am good about doing my business on a routine. While I will go potty on a leash, I don't know how to go for walks yet so will need a fence. Sometimes I freeze when I am wearing a leash so will need a family that will work with me on leash training. Maybe there is another dog in the house to show me how to walk on a leash? Hopefully! Anyway, I am ready for my forever. My forever family, my forever home and my forever best friend that will love me unconditionally, not give up on me and who will help me learn to trust again.  I promise I’m worth it and I will fill that hole that you possibly never even knew was there!
