Story
Socks Senior Seeking Senior Meet Socks.  Socks is a tiny 6 lb senior chihuahua gentleman looking for the perfect forever home.  Socks loved life with his senior dad, who unfortunately passed away.  After that, poor Socks went to 3 other homes.  His third dad also passed away. This time, Socks was on his way to the shelter.  As soon as he arrived, the shelter employee called Critter Cavalry.  Miss Peggy was  immediately on her way to pick him up.  This very sweet 13-year-old boy is just a joy to have around.  He gets along well with everyone.  Socks loves going for walks with his foster mom and doggie brothers and sisters.  He trotts happily along as they walk in the fenced-in field.  After a nice walk, Socks may take a nap in his carrier (his safe place) or snuggle up with a couple of his brothers and sisters in Miss Peggy’s lap.  It took him a couple of weeks, but he soon settled into the routine and now feels very comfortable with everyone.  He is also good with the resident cats.  Socks would prefer a quieter home, either as an only dog or with a couple of other senior dogs.  He is used to the slower pace of a senior mom and dad, but should also do well with a younger family with older children.  It would be ideal if Grandma or Grandad lived with the younger family.  Socks would then have the stability that has been missing so far.  Socks is a healthy senior who has been neutered and is current on all his shots.  Socks is also microchipped and on monthly prevention.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Socks is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  Let’s find Socks the perfect home for the holidays.  November 1, 2025, 9:32 pm

This special little one year old chihuahua is called Magic Maude.  And especially sensitive little girl, that somehow got just a little too round and is on a dedicated exercise in nutrition program to drop some weight.  Currently, she is eighteen pounds and we field that she would be best to be in the ten to twelve pound range as a goal.  She originally was in a chaotic home that animal control had to step in and take away 112 chihuahuas that we're living in the home.  An unfathomable amount of dogs that were not altered, but yet healthy.  When mod came to our rescue and was put in a foster home. She lay there in her crate for days very depressed and emotionally unresponsive.  She barely moved from the one spot she lay in.   Eventually, after almost two weeks, she perked up with the company of few other chihuahuas coming to join her in her large crate.  Soon she was going on walks with the foster. Mom and seemed to enjoy the freedom of being outside, taking in all the new sights and sounds of the neighborhood.  We know she had never been leash walked due to the overcrowding at her original home.  This girl is spayed and healthy and ready to start all over again. She wants love and we promised her a great family who will love her and take her for walks and treat her like the Magic Maude that she is.  She is currently in Nashville, Tennessee, and can be transported to the northeast region as well. Story
Chico came to us after his owner had a health crisis and was no longer able to care for him. He spent nearly his entire nine years with the same people, in the same home, and such a sudden change is hard for any dog-- but Chico is resilient and doing well in his foster home. In his foster home, Chico has had the opportunity to get out an about more, and he feels pretty cool riding in a backpack! He'll grumble a little when he meets new people and dogs, but he's just talking, and he gets over it quickly. He's spent his whole life around kids and another dog, so we expect he'll be fine in a home with kids and dogs, given proper introductions and time to acclimate. He's pretty lazy and he loves his bed, and laps! Chico is about 9 years old, 12 pounds (could stand to lose a couple), neutered, vaccinated and started on heartworm/flea/tick prevention.
