We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides. Bolt My name is Bolt named after Usain Bolt. You guessed it I am fast just like the Olympic sprinter. It is amazing I am so fast because I have an injured pelvis. Because of this injury I have had nerve damage and lost feeling in my back end. This means I cannot pee and poop like a normal dog. My foster family and vet are working with me to see if there is some things we can try. Currently we are trying out some medications to see if we can get me to have control of my functions. We are not sure if they will work but we want to try. I am such a cute boy and very loving. I get along with the other dogs in the home. I think I am in charge of the much bigger dogs because my whole six pounds are filled with determination. I am still a puppy but have gotten over a lot of puppy behavior like chewing and biting. I weigh almost 7 lbs and need to put more weight on. I am crate trained. Currently I wear a diaper most of the time. I do not love it but put up with it to make everyone happy. I am very smart and want to do the right things when asked. I love humans, my crate and soft beds. In my foster home the other dogs think I am to fast to play with but I try to play with them. Maybe they will come around. I am looking for a home where someone will love me for me. No one know how I got injured but it was not my fault. I deserve to be loved and have a loving family like all other dogs. If you have room in your heart and lap and couch please give me a chance. I will pay you back with lots of love. We rescued Bentley from a shelter and love him very much, but my circumstances have changed. I’m working three jobs while raising my kids, and unfortunately, Bentley is spending too much time alone or in his crate. He deserves more time, attention, exercise, and play than I’m currently able to give him. Bentley also struggles around other dogs and would benefit from someone who has the time and patience to continue working with him and his training. I’m not looking to give him to just anyone. Meet Susye — A Young Girl Ready for a Home of Her Own Sometimes the best dogs have the hardest beginnings. Susye’s second chance began when a Nashville Fire Department EMT realized that the homeless woman caring for her would not be leaving the hospital. He could not bear the thought of this young dog being left with nowhere to go, so he brought Susye home and made sure she was safe. For the past three months, Susye has been living with her firefighter foster dad and his four dogs. She has been a happy, peaceful addition to the family and has settled into home life beautifully. She is crate trained when needed, loves using the dog door, and enjoys spending time in the fenced backyard. Now fully vetted and spayed, Susye is turning 8 months old this month and is ready for a forever home with the stability she deserves. She weighs 43 pounds. We believe Susye may be a Feist, Rat Terrier, or Jack Russell Terrier mix, possibly with some herding breed influence. She is bright, active, affectionate, and eager to be part of whatever is happening. Like many young herding and terrier mixes, she will do best with regular exercise, engagement, and continued training. Although Susye adores her foster dog siblings, they are all older. Her foster dad cannot help but think she would especially love a home with a younger, playful dog companion who can match her energy and enjoy growing up alongside her. Her firefighter foster dad also works 12-hour shifts, and caring for five dogs has become more than he can reasonably maintain long-term. Susye is loved and safe, but this was always meant to be her stepping stone—not her final destination. She would thrive with a family that can give her companionship, consistency, playtime, and plenty of opportunities to use her smart young mind. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, and another playful dog would be a big bonus. Susye has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should.
