Story
Sometimes we never know what we will see when we start up our car and leave the safety of our homes and our beloved pets that wait for us to return.  Sometimes what we see on the road is disturbing and downright WRONG.     This pair of Chihuahuas were discovered by one of our faithful rescue fosters as she traveled a back country road that was mostly farmland and very few  houses on the road.  First she say the little white chihuahua in the road and he ran from her and wouldn’t let her catch him.  She tried for a while.  Then she went to the nearest house and talked to a man who was out in his yard about this white Chihuahua.  He told her who owned the land where the dog was seen running and so a few days later she went back determined to ride up and down the road until she could see the dog again.  Well there were TWO little chihuahuas now; white and black and tan.  She found the owners of the land and asked them about the Chis and was told they were dropped off by some unknown person and that they had been up in their barn trying to eat the cow feed. They were abandoned and soon our rescue foster trapped them and brought them home to change their life forever.  We are getting them vetted and neutered and spayed 1/26. WE NEED FOSTER HELP!   The white boy is very shy and the black and tan is a female and the “protector” of her male friend.  Help us give them a short term place to stay while we look for a permanent and forever loving home!  Can you help for a few weeks?  Please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.  They can be fostered in Nashville, TN or even in the New England area.  We transport weekly and just need someone to show them kindness, love and stability.  They will be ever so grateful!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 17, 2024, 10:21 pm

Story
This special girl is called Joni and she is a 2-3 year old Chihuahua girl that weighs 11 pounds and looking for a dream home.  This girl who has been a momma with babies before, was found with what we believe to be one of her puppies, a son named Chachi, who is white and a year old now.     This girl was found  abandoned in a very remote rural area that was nothing but countryside farm land.  The owners of the farm told us that they both showed up and had been there looking for food and shelter for over a week.  Our rescue foster mom couldn’t stand to see them left outside in the cold and with no place to be safely sheltered.  They would not come to her and so she humanely trapped them and took them home.  The rest will be history for both of these Chihuahuas.  Momma Joni is a sweet and confident girl who still takes her protective mothering responsibilities seriously.  She is still mothering and overseeing her son Chachi.  She is housebroken pretty well and crate trained and she does get along with the other small dogs in the foster home…and the cat too!  We have promised Momma Joni that she will never be thrown out and abandoned ever again.   She is ready for a new and loving owner to sweep her away on a little magic carpet to live happily ever after.   Is that you holding the key to her heart and forever future!?  Contact us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 17, 2024, 10:21 pm

Story
Clifford is a very lucky little Chihuahua.  Found in the middle of a small country road in front of a very disturbing trailer that was overrun with animals and a family that didn’t care about any of them.  Clifford was destined to being run over. This darling little guy weighs 9 pounds and is determined to be about 3-4 years and no older despite the grey on his black muzzle.  This boy is cautious when meeting new people but as soon as he is sure of you he is just the most cuddly and loving boy ever.  He is pretty much housebroken, crate trained and he is good with cats and dogs of all sizes.  He is good on a leash and would be such a great fulltime companion if he is given a consist and calm lifestyle and home.  His long little tail was broken at some point in his life and crooked and sort of a funny part of his persona.  It is not painful to him so don’t be concerned.  Clifford would be best in a home with older children and adults of course are fine for his personality.  If you are interested in this boy please write to us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  We are happy to talk with you about this darling little black nugget of a Chihuahua.

Story
Meet Miss Summer.  This extremely sweet little lady had a hard first 6 years as she endured all kinds of filth and neglect living in the home or a hoarder.  She had 20 other dogs to keep her company so she is great with other dogs.  The horrible conditions did not adversely affect Miss Summer too much.  While she is a little shy, she still has the bright and sweet personality her name reflects.  She has experienced so much since going to her foster home and is growing more confident every day.  Since she really has had no life experiences everything is new to her.  She is getting used to riding in the car as she has already been to the vet twice.  Her foster mom is attempting to teach her to walk on a leash.  It is a slow go but as Summer gains confidence she will improve.  This little lady is a little cuddle bug and loves to be with her foster mom.  She does sleep with her as her foster brothers and sister do.  Summer's favorite place is on the back of the couch.  She is quite the athletic one and easily jumps from the floor to the chair to the back of the couch.  She can definitely see what is going on from her perch.  Summer is slowly learning that you do 'your business' outside.  However this is a work in progress and will take a while.  On day 6 she started  'going' outside and also started doing zoomies around the yard.  Summer would be much happier with a fenced in yard to do both of these activities.  She loves her foster brothers and sister and warms up quickly to new people.  You just have to talk softly to her and take your time.  Even when her tail is between her legs it is wagging.  That shows you how sweet she really is.  If you are looking for a precious little lady to add to your family and you have the patience to help a little one in need, then please consider Miss Summer.  You will make a huge difference in her life and you won't be sorry.  Summer is spayed, current on all her shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  She also now has pearly white teeth as she has had a dental.  To be considered for Summer's forever family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Summer is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)April 17, 2024, 10:21 pm

Story
Quick Facts about Pete: Breed: Chihuahua/mix Age: 3 years Size: 25 lbs House-Trained: Yes Pete was surrendered to Catering to Cats and Dogs after his owners realized they did not have time to care for him. Pete loves food… he LOVES food. He is very food motivated, and it shows a little around his midsection. He is currently on weight management food to get his weight in a healthier range. He likes to sleep, go for walks, get belly rubs, and occasionally play with toys, but he also is a big couch potato if you let him. Most of all, he wants to be wherever you are! He has been working on his basic commands in his foster home and will need continued help once in his forever home. Pete is a somewhat hesitant and nervous dog. After getting to know you a little, he warms up, and if you get lucky enough to become his person, he will always be by your side! He does get nervous with loud sounds and sometimes when you put on/take off his harness. He feels safe in his crate and will resort there when he feels nervous. Pete would do best with low to moderate-energy dogs and needs proper introductions to his doggie friends. Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee for Pete is $358 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!

Story
My name should have been Happy because I am the happiest boy. But the name Lucky, also, fits because I am Lucky now to have been rescued. I am about a five year old or older Chihuahua. I was abandoned in a place with about 7 other Chihuahuas. You can guess what the place looked and smelled after we were left there for a long time. Some of the other Chi’s were eating through the walls to get out. We were rescued and taken to the shelter. I think my siblings and I were so glad to be out of the place where we were left. The shelter said we all had great dispositions. My tail has not stopped wagging since I came to my foster home. I do have some tremors but the humans are not sure why. All of us left behind were very malnourished which could attribute to my issues. My hip bones are showing and I am really skinny. But rest assure I am being fed now and will fatten up just fine. I do bump into things on occasion but I don’t let the stop me. I run, I play and I ask for attention. I have a funny little gait as well. Again this could come from being so happy or being so malnourished. Again it does not stop me from doing all the doggy things I need to do. So far I get along with other dogs. I am starting to play with another dog about my size. I am just learning to play with toys. I pick the toys up and am so happy but then not sure what to do. I am watching the others dogs so I am sure I will catch on. I get along with all sizes of dogs as long as they are nice to me. I am not perfectly housebroken but will wear a belly band and it is usually dry when I get outside to use the potty. Not being housebroken may have to do with not being neutered and from being inside for a long time. I will be neutered in November so I am given a chance to put on weight and get stronger. I am starting to go into a crate when I need to. I do not always want to be crated but it is safe. I love to eat and have treats. I love to be outside with my human and doggy friends. I am learning to walk on a leash. It took me two days to learn my foster home’s routine so I am smart. I can be a bit fearful in a new situation but once I am comfortable, I am wide open. I will just cower when I feel unsafe. As long as folks give me time I will come around. I do love being held. I go nonstop and so does that tail of mine. I am happy to be in a safe and clean spot. If you have a spot in your house I can be safe in let us know. I would love a forever family that I can be loved and cared for. Please complete an application at safeanimalhaven.org if interested in giving Lucky a forever home!April 4, 2024, 7:39 pm

Marshall is the cutest guy with an adorable personality.. He is VERY communicative. Tells you when he wants to go out and tells you a LOT of other things that we have not even figured out yet! He walks a little funny , with his front legs rather straight but he has been checked out thoroughly by our vet and he is not in pain. Maybe has some arthritis. It definitely does not keep him from going places because he walks great on a leash and LOVES going for walks!

Story
Introducing sweet Rusty! This 10 year old male Chihuahua is around 14 pounds and housetrained. If you're looking for a handsome little lap dog Rusty is your boy! Like a typical chi - he needs some space at first and given the opportunity to warm up - once he realizes you're his people and you've gained his trust, he will move right into your heart in no time at all. This little guy loves his family & will follow you all around just waiting for an opportunity to sit beside you. He LOVES going for walks & on car rides - he would do great as an only dog - or possibly with a mellow fur sibling given the right scenario. Rusty will make an amazing companion for a lucky family and would do best with older or no kids - as he prefers a more chill environment. Did we mention how dapper he looks in a bowtie? Don't miss out on Rusty, submit your application today at www.southcharlottedogrescue.com
