Story
*ok with or without other dogs *not good with small children *cats ok *apartments ok Buddy is an adorable 2 year old toy poodle. He has had a bit of a rough start with an owner who did not really know how to train him. He was not well socialized and became afraid of young kids. He is very sweet with adults and needs a confident owner to help him heal and grow emotionally. He’s well behaved and quiet as well as crate trained and house broken. Buddy knows many commands including, sit, down, roll over, shake etc. Buddy is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Buddy’s adoption fee is $400 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair every dog and family for a successful and happy life.

Story
Alaska is an adorable, petite, Poodle mix who is ready for a brand new start in life. She truly deserves a “do over” as things weren’t easy for her but she never wavered in her love for people through it all. She is approximately 4 years old and weighs about 10 lbs. Alaska is very quiet but she’s a fairly confident gal in her own way. She doesn’t seem to know what toys are but I’m sure she could learn. She has never met a person she doesn’t like either! She’s good with most other dogs. She’s learning sit and down and she is definitely smart! She’s hesitant on the leash but learning. Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well housetrained Alaska is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Story
Hi! I’m Cinder — a tiny bundle of chocolatey sweet mischief and wagging tail. At just 6 months old, I’m a Phantom Chocolate Toy Poodle with a big personality packed into a little body. I’m a happy girl who loves to play — especially tossing my ball around like it’s the most important job in the world. I’ve got that fun puppy energy, but I’m also super affectionate and love being close to my people. I’m a smart little pup and already learning the ropes, but I’m still a baby so I’ll need a family willing to keep teaching me all the good stuff. My dream home would have another playful pup so we can zoom, wrestle, and keep each other entertained. If you’re looking for a tiny best friend with a wagging tail and a playful heart, I might just be your girl. Apply now on azdawgz.org

Story
Thank you for the opportunity to rehome my mother's dog Lucas. We think he is about 13-14 years old, he is neutered and shots are coming due this month. My mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia and is unable to care for her two dogs. We might have her female covered but would be willing to entertain rehoming to same family. He has had some skin issues that we believe are diet related. I have tried to meal prep for them as they are also overweight. Due to my mom currently living on her own she will continue with her old habits and over feeding them or buying food that is not the highest quality. Also when there is an ear infection or any other issues, she has difficulty giving them the required medication. Lucas is also not good with the doggy door, I don't believe my mom really trained him to use it. So, unfortunately she won't let him out regularly and he goes inside the home. She has had him for for at least 12 years. He is good with cats and other dogs
