Story
When we bought our farm, this cat was left behind from the previous owner with the motivation that a farm needs a rodent hunter. The previous owner told us that the cat, Snow, most likely needs very little food as she is a 100% outdoor cat, but that's not true. She needs to be fed every day, if not she gets fast very thin. We already have 2 indoor cats and a dog which we take along with us on our RV trips. Didn't want to take Snow with us as she never has been an indoor cat so our daughter came to feed her when we were on our trips. Now that our daughter has a different job, she can't spend 1 hour driving to feed the cat every day when we are gone. And it's not only Snow we are feeding. She has visitors from a black cat, a pink cat, opossums and skunks which makes it impossible to leave food and water for a week behind as it's gone the same night. Snow is about 4 years old, a very sweet cat. She wants to be petted and be around people, just be social.

These pups are in Austin, Texas too!

Story
Big Personality, Heart of Gold, Diva Even if you are gluten-free, this kind of Wheat is great for you! She is always curious about where you are and will follow you around to stay in the loop and she is very expressive - she lets you know when she wants more pets or attention, and is a loyal companion! She is always eager for a movie-marathon if that means she gets to lay underneath a blanket. She is reserved initially, but give her a little warm up time and she'll show you her affectionate side. She likes pets and chin scratches and will rub up against you, give you headbutts with her super cute round head, purr, and turn happy circles around you. She likes to be the one to decide when it's petting time, so watch for her cues! Curious, Wheat likes to explore every corner of her domain, and will let you know if she wants to see behind a closed door or cabinet. Wheat likes to park herself near you and hang out, but she isn't the snuggly type. Sitting quietly near her humans is just what she needs to feel content and happy. She can be super affectionate but doesn't need you to pet her all the time, and when she has had her Affection Fix, she will let you know what her boundaries are. She is happy having some alone time too. Wheat's little run when it's time for a meal is so cute you can't help but smile. She likes to sit in a little "trip-leg" stance, and loyally will follow you from room to room to be part of what you're up to. A calm, content observer, Wheat thrives by just getting to exist near you and interact with you. She would thrive in a home where she can be the solo pet and adults only – she is all you need after all! This is where she will shine, purr and become your beloved and loyal resident couch potato! Though a Golden Girl, she still occasionally likes to bat toy balls around! And she is super curious, always interested in what is on the other side of that closed closet or bedroom door. She can be chatty if she wants something, but she's generally quiet and self-sufficient. You'll fall in love with her gravelly meow! Ms. Wheat didn't get to this age without forming some opinions about life and deciding what she likes and doesn't like. She definitely has her preferences and will let you know them! She needs to stay on a special diet to prevent kidney stones. Her food is readily available in local stores as well as online. Questions? Just ask! Wheat has a thick black and white tuxedo and a pink nose with a black freckle! She's such a regal beauty. She simply needs people to give her time to settle in, some places to tuck herself into until she feels safe, and a home that respects her boundaries and welcomes her affection. She is a wonderful cat looking for a wonderful home! How about yours? Contact us to meet Wheat! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet Wheat please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org.

Story
Sweet, Affectionate, Food-Motivated Need a new home office assistant? Dwight Schrute is your guy! He's up for any job, especially if it involves giving head boops and greeting everyone he sees with sweet meows. Dwight is a super friendly guy who loves being around people. He loves laying on you and following you around and will snuggle up against you any chance he gets. It's actually incredible how loving and trusting he is of people despite what he has experienced in his past. Dwight came to APA! via AAC after being brought there with wounds on his shoulder and leg. He was tragically a victim of human violence and has a bullet lodged in his spine. Despite the absolutely terrible treatment from humans he has experienced, Dwight has shown that he has learned to love people again and deserves to find the most loving home where he will be spoiled with attention! Because of Dwight's past injuries, he is incontinent with hindlimb paralysis and requires some extra medical care. He needs his human to press gently on his bladder twice a day to "express" it and help him go pee. It is super easy once you get the hang of it, and APA! will show you how! He doesn't need any help to poop; he will just leave little poop nuggets on the floor which are easy to clean up a few times a day. For more information, please contact APA! Dwight has been living with other cats in a group room at APA!, so he can peacefully coexist with other kitties, although he doesn't play or snuggle with them much. He also would rather not have any other kitties try to roughhouse with him. He much prefers the company of humans! Dwight is pretty easygoing and only meows when he's asking for food or greeting people (which he loves to do)! The perfect forever home for Dwight is one with people who have no problem helping him out with his incontinence needs and will give him all the love and attention he deserves! Dwight has been through a lot, but nothing would make him happier than to find his forever home where he can hang out with you throughout the day and curl up next to you for pets and snuggles. Oh, and lots of treats and snacks too! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet Dwight Schrute, please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org.
