Story
If you are searching for an absolutely ONE OF A KIND kitten, you have hit the jackpot! There is no funnier, more playful, more loving, or more determined kitten than Hokey Pokey. To understand just how incredible this kitten, we need to go back to when he was a week old… Hokey Pokey was found all alone in a park by a man using his metal detector. Although he was not the treasure he was searching for, we could not be more grateful that he came upon poor little Hokey Pokey. When the Finder picked up the kitten they noticed he had a very large gaping wound in one of his arms. It was late in the evening, and all of the shelters were either closed or denied intake. That’s when the Finder reached out to Orphan Annie’s Neonatal Rescue to see if we could help. A dedicated Foster took Hokey Pokey in and stabilized him until he could be brought to the veterinarian. It was determined that he had suffered a bite from wildlife and would need his arm removed. At just over 6 ounces, this incredible kitten survived an amputation of his right front arm. Since then he has learned to play, love, make chaos, and steal the hearts of everyone he meets. Nothing holds, Hokey Pokey back, and whoever is lucky enough to adopt this sweet boy has truly found a treasure.

Story
Loving, Cuddly, Friendly Falling asleep in her human companion’s lap with a purr, Princess Bubblegum is the epitome of loving! This affectionate kitty loves to spend her days cuddling up with her human friends, as snuggling truly has a special place in this lovebug’s heart. When she’s not giving her human companions love, Princess Bubblegum can be found simply coexisting in the same place as you, as this adorable girl loves to be with her people! She'll make herself comfy and rev up her purr motor to let you know just how much she delights in your shared closeness. She may be little cautious around new people at first, but Princess Bubblegum just needs some time to get comfortable. Once she does, be ready for your own furry little feline shadow! When it comes to her ideal home, Princess Bubblegum would thrive with people who make time throughout the day for some much needed snuggling. Her dream-come-true is a home where she is not left alone all day so that she can spend time with you and follow you around! Princess Bubblegum's favorite type of play is interactive - with you! She doesn't have much use for small toys. But, if you bring out a wand toy, get ready for some spirited action. She will spin and jump and twirl and leap as you make the wand dance through the air. This affectionate young lady will entertain you as she goes after her prize. If your ideal everyday includes curling up on the couch with a little lovebug glued to your side, Princess Bubblegum might be your purr-fect match! Contact us today to arrange a meet & greet! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. Story
Big Personality, Heart of Gold, Diva Even if you are gluten-free, this kind of Wheat is great for you! She is always curious about where you are and will follow you around to stay in the loop and she is very expressive - she lets you know when she wants more pets or attention, and is a loyal companion! She is always eager for a movie-marathon if that means she gets to lay underneath a blanket. She is reserved initially, but give her a little warm up time and she'll show you her affectionate side. She likes pets and chin scratches and will rub up against you, give you headbutts with her super cute round head, purr, and turn happy circles around you. She likes to be the one to decide when it's petting time, so watch for her cues! Curious, Wheat likes to explore every corner of her domain, and will let you know if she wants to see behind a closed door or cabinet. Wheat likes to park herself near you and hang out, but she isn't the super snuggly type. Sitting quietly near her humans is just what she needs to feel content and happy. Once she's gotten to know you, she is fine with being gently picked up and will even purr because she enjoys being held and cuddled for a bit. She will let you know when she's ready to be put back down by softly pushing on your hands with her cute little paws! Wheat can be super affectionate but doesn't need you to pet her all the time, and when she has had her Affection Fix, she will let you know what her boundaries are. She is happy having some alone time too. Wheat's little run when it's time for a meal is so cute you can't help but smile. She likes to sit in a little "trip-leg" stance, and loyally will follow you from room to room to be part of what you're up to. A calm, content observer, Wheat thrives by just getting to exist near you and interact with you. She would thrive in a home where she can be the solo pet and adults only – she is all you need after all! This is where she will shine, purr and become your beloved and loyal resident couch potato! Though a Golden Girl, she still occasionally likes to bat toy balls around and will chase after ice cubes! And she is super curious, always interested in what is on the other side of that closed closet or bedroom door. She can be chatty if she wants something, but she's generally quiet and self-sufficient. You'll fall in love with her gravelly meow! Ms. Wheat didn't get to this age without forming some opinions about life and deciding what she likes and doesn't like. She definitely has her preferences and will let you know them! She needs to stay on a special diet to prevent kidney stones. Her food is readily available in local stores as well as online. Questions? Just ask! Wheat has a thick black and white tuxedo and a pink nose with a black freckle! She's such a regal beauty. She simply needs people to give her time to settle in, some places to tuck herself into until she feels safe, and a home that respects her boundaries and welcomes her affection. She is a wonderful cat looking for a wonderful home! How about yours? Contact us to meet Wheat! Want to see more video of Wheat than what we have right here? Head on over to Instagram and see how her former foster captured Wheats essence in a few fun reels: https://tinyurl.com/WheatAPAIG All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Story
Independent • Easygoing • Good Company Mrs. Mac is a floofy brown tabby with adorable white boots and big, expressive eyes. Her sweet sleeping poses (curled up, stretched out, belly up) are so calming they’ll make you want to relax right with her. She has a gentle presence that simply makes her nice to be around. And with her good looks she’s like a little piece of art lounging in your living room! She values her personal space but enjoys being part of the action. Mrs. Mac will hang out nearby while you read, work, or binge your favorite show. Just don’t expect too many cuddles (she’s got boundaries, and we respect that!). Playtime is her jam, and she’ll happily chase toys and show off her jumps. She’ll need a home that can set aside at least 30 minutes a day for play to keep her entertained and engaged. She also loves her scratching post for a good stretch and scritch. Her foster set up a little camera and discovered that when the house is quiet at night, Mrs. Mac throws her own kitty party—snacking, playing, and having a grand old time! During the day she’s low-maintenance and polite, snoozing on the bed or couch while you’re at work. All in all, Mrs. Mac is a laid-back, self-sufficient kitty who’s happy to be your quiet roommate. She doesn’t ask for much, but she’ll always be around to keep you company. Want a chill, floofy friend in your home? Email adopt@austinpetsalive.org about Mrs. Mac! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.

Story
We adopted Blondie from a shelter in Ukraine. When the war started, we brought her with us to the U.S. She’s approximately 9 years old (we’re not exactly sure). She’s a very calm and gentle cat—never scratches or bites. She’s a bit shy and doesn’t like being held, but she’s affectionate in her own way—she’ll come lie next to you on the bed and keep you company. She loves relaxing by the window and spends most of her time resting quietly. She’s very patient and great with kids—she never scratches, even when handled. With other pets, she may need some time to adjust, but eventually, she gets used to them. She doesn’t scratch furniture, always uses the litter box, and adjusts well to new environments. She would be perfect for someone looking for a peaceful, low-energy cat with a sweet and gentle personality.

Story
This is Kylo, our medium-haired black cat that we are hoping to find a warm and loving home for. She is about 9 years old and is a small girl, weighing 9-10 lb. We adopted her back in 2019 from a co-worker who found her on the side of the road as a kitten in 2016. The co-worker decided to re-home her because he already had too many pets. Kylo is a shy cat and will need a patient and cat-experienced home while she adjusts to her new family. She would be ideal for a homebody. Her favorite activity will be being near her human when she's feeling good, and sitting on your lap while you pet her. She has a special diet, Royal Canin Gastrointestinal dry food. Kylo has been an indoor cat, but recently discovered her interest in the outdoors and likes to hang out in our backyard to hunt bugs and roll in the grass. She can be on a leash outside. We can include her toys/cat tree free of charge. We simply can not home her currently due to a newborn and human allergies, but we love her very much.

Story
PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO - Nicky's story starts at 6:55 min. Nicky is an absolute survivor! A homeless man near Skidrow started feeding Nicky when he was already in bad shape. But the homeless man didn't have the means to take Nicky to the vet. He built him an adorable little house made out of a cardboard box and covered with plastic to protect Nicky from the cold and rain. We rushed Nicky to our vet immediately and he was extremely underweight, his skin had sores and scabs all over, he had injured paws and the worst: Nicky had a diaphragmatic hernia. The vet thinks that he had been hit by a car at some point and the hernia kept getting bigger, literally pushing his intestines into his lungs and against his heart. It was a race with time, because Nicky was in such bad condition at first, that he was not a candidate for surgery. But Nicky has a strong will to live and he is a super nice cat! He purrs immediately when you start petting him. He's a quiet guy and loves to eat. With proper TLC and medication, Nicky started to gain weight and his skin cleared up. Just in time for his life saving surgery. Nicky received the operation to repair the hernia at one of the best hospitals in Los Angeles. He's an absolute miracle cat! Nicky is recovering extremely well from the surgery and indulges in eating his favorite foods. Nicky is about 6 years old, so he's fairly young for a cat. He is FIV+ but Leukemia Negative. Nicky could be in a home with another cat or as the only kitty. He's a very patient, loving handsome guy! Nicky would love to have his own home where he would be loved and he could make up for the time of neglect in the streets. Will you make Nicky happy?! Ingrid (512) 980-0105 pcdrapps@yahoo.com
