Turkish Van kittens & cats in Newark, Delaware

We adopted Saphie as a kitten in 2017, so she will turn 9 this November. She is an indoor cat mostly but will meow at the door to go outside in the yard. When she wants to be let back in, she will meow at the door again. She is friendly and likes to be rubbed but prefers not to be picked up. She loves treats and will come running if you say the word or shake the treat bag. She purrs a lot and will rub up against you for a scratch and will sometimes even lick you if she’s feeling extra friendly. Saphie tolerates our dogs, but we believe she would be happier in a home where she is the only pet. Recently, when she seems agitated at the dogs, she has peed outside the litter box. It is unknown how she would react to other cats, because we only have her and two dogs. We would love to see Saphie go to a loving and nurturing home that has lots of treats. ☺️

This handsome boy is getting fluffier by the day he came into our care from a life on the streets of Philadelphia! He was under weight and matted so he looks a bit disheveled at the moment and not nearly a fluffy as we expect him to be come with proper care & nutrition. Between his stunning looks and playful, dog like personality we suspect he has a littleTurkish Van in him too! He's a big lap cat, loves being held,and very snuggly, but he can also get overstimulated at times and his human will need to learn his boundaries!

Zoom is a big personality in a little furry body. She’s confident, curious, and always ready to explore whatever’s going on around her. Whether he’s chasing a wand toy, chatting away with his adorable high-pitched “baby” meow, or trotting over to see what you’re up to, Zoom is fully engaged with life.She’s incredibly affectionate and thrives on connection, both with people and other cats. She’s the kind of cat who wants to be part of everything, greeting you, following you around, and making sure you’re never alone. Her playful, athletic side makes her a joy to watch, and his funny, expressive nature keeps things entertaining.Zoom would do especially well in a home with another feline companion hopefully her mom, as she truly enjoys that bond and sense of security. She’s brave, outgoing, and full of enthusiasm, the kind of cat who settles in and makes herself right at home.Updates from their foster:Zoom can be picked up easily & needs a lot of stimulation (as expected with how young she is). She is unfortunately a plant muncher, and is fascinated by water in cups (also unsurprising, considering the Turkish Van genes we think she has). She's can be a little chaos demon if she’s bored, (but hey that’s Kitten’s for you; she's turning one soon)! She makes up for it in cuteness. Zelda & Zoom are turning out to be lap cats, though Zoom is still figuring out how it works (all gangly limbs).

Ollie Curious, fun, and friendly!! He loves to play in boxes, toys, chase string toys, and bird watch. Ollie has a goofy, silly, and sweet personality. He loves people. He gets along great with other cats, dogs, good with older kids, teens, adults in his foster home. He is mostly around adults in the foster home. Meet Ellie, a beautiful and affectionate 5–6-year-old Turkish Van who originally came from a shelter in Allentown, PA. Ellie is a sweet, gentle companion who loves simply being near her people. She has a wonderfully peaceful temperament and adjusts to new surroundings surprisingly quickly, making her an easy cat to welcome into a new home. Ellie would thrive best in a quiet, calm household with adults or older children who understand and respect her space. She is not a good fit for a home with small children and would be much happier in a more relaxed environment. Her experience with other cats is unknown, outside of a shelter environment, but given her generally calm and easygoing personality, she may do well with another respectful cat if introduced slowly and properly. Ellie would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a loving, loyal, low-key companion who just wants to be close to her person and enjoy a peaceful home.

Maxi is the queen of cats. She loves to play with cat toys and people. She is very mild mannered but will let you know when she wants some attention. She will cuddle up next to you in bed and maybe pounce on your hand under the covers. She loves hiding in boxes and bag. While she likes to cuddle and be pet she doesn't really like to be held. She has never hissed or swatted m, but she will try to get away. Her personality really shines. With a toddler and a baby on the way, we really want her to have a space where she can get all her love and attention.
