Story
Meet the fabulous Sklyar, an affectionate, cuddly pup whose primary passion in life is her person. Skylar has been through formal training, has excellent house manners, and knows multiple commands. She has learned to go to her “place” when it’s food time or her foster mom has company, and does well meeting new people and visitors. Skylar is insecure around other dogs and would love to be an only-dog getting all the love and attention. Skylar was rescued by a Good Samaritan running as a stray in rural SC. She was just a young pup and was fortunate to have someone looking out for her. The Good Samaritan took Sklyar into her home which included two kids, three dogs, and a cat. She did a gradual introduction of Sklyar to her pack, taking more than a week to fully integrate her, and that slow introduction worked well. Skylar was respectful to the other dogs in her home and settled in well to home life. She quickly proved to have excellent house manners - crate trained, housetrained, and does great being left home alone. We brought Skylar to the DC Metro to start her new life over a year ago, and she’s been living as an only dog in Baltimore. We discovered she was more anxious in an urban environment and needed work on her leash skills and meeting other dogs. Skylar went through formal training, and our trainer worked closely with her foster mom, Terri, to show her how to read Skylar’s body language and manage her on leash.  Since graduating from training, we’ve seen significant breakthroughs. Skylar has learned to focus on Terri when they go for walks, and she’s become desensitized to the neighborhood dogs. If she does get excited, she recovers quickly, and her recall is much improved. Sklyar has pretty exemplary house manners and knows multiple commands. She has learned to go to her “place” when it’s food time or her foster mom has company, and does well meeting new people and visitors. Overall, she is a fun, loving pup who comes with a few quirks, but don’t we all? You will not find a more loyal and committed pup.  She is the ultimate companion. The best home for Skylar would be one in a quiet, low-traffic neighborhood with a fenced yard to romp and play in. Her favorite things in life are running, playing fetch, and snuggling on the couch. Because Skylar lacks confidence in new situations, she needs an adopter with leadership skills — someone who will set the rules, give her some boundaries, and help build her confidence. She will gladly comply with lots of love and kisses because she aims to please. It’s hard to understand why some dogs get all the attention while others get overlooked time and time again. This sweet girl is LONG overdue for her happy ending.  Apply today to learn more about Skylar and give her a chance. ******** Worthy Dog is committed to Skylar and her success and will donate a training session to help Skylar’s new family transition her into their home. We are also open to FOSTER-TO-ADOPT for serious adopters. ******* BREED ESTIMATE: Vizsla/Hound/Bully Mix GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 51 lbs APPROXIMATE AGE: ~2.5 years old COAT TYPE:  Short ADOPTION FEE: $400 OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/spayed/microchipped LOCATION: Baltimore, MD   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. Foxy is a love bug who loves to play, go for walks, and sniff out new smells. Kennel and house trained, good with other dogs, but would need a slow introduction. Does great on the leash and does pull some, but she would get better with time. Foxy has been to several of our Petco Adoption events and has done absolutely wonderful, with no barking or accidents. Story
Our pretty little girl is called Cora and what a loving and sweet little Pointer mix girl she truly is.  She loves playing with other dogs and sleeping in the bed with her foster mom.  This little girl was one of 8 puppies left in an outdoor pen and basically abandoned by the former owner when they loved.  Neighbors stopped by for 3 months to feed and water the puppies and sadly that was all.  They grew and grew and eventually started fighting over the little food they had and the small pen was just so confining. One of the great Critter Cavalry Rescue foster moms heard of their plight and went to get them out of their hot, and confining pen that offered no exercise and not enough food daily…and NO HUMAN LOVE.  Now Cora and her siblings are seeking homes where they can spread their wings and bask in the love and care of their new families.  Cora is remarkably loving and fun and seems to not have been emotionally stunted by their early months of growing up abandoned.  We know that she loves other dogs!  She plays with a 45 pound black lab male that is a year old and “Her and Bo are like two peas in a pod”.  They absolutely love playing together, tug of war, chasing each other in the yard, or just sleeping in the dog bed together.  Cora is good with cats and loves the young children that are in the home, even with all their noise and high energy play.  She is almost there with her potty training and she is good with being in the crate at times needed.  Cora relates to people and loves them.  She always needs to be right by someone and loves to lay on your feet. She has learned not to be possessive of her good or toys as she first started out being.  We totally understood the possessiveness and now she is relaxed and eager to share.  This pretty girl and her siblings have come such a long way.  We are so happy for them to be in out foster care and receiving the love that they so readily deserve.  If you really want to adopt a “rescued dog” then Cora is the total definition of a rescued puppy! If you are interested in making her your own please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com!!! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
My name is Breanna and I am a pretty little girl puppy that is almost 5.5 months old and born around May 1st.  I won’t bore you with the sad story because most of the southern pups have one, but I was lucky that me and my 7 siblings got out of our situation alive.  I didn’t have the best start to my life and I wasn’t handled by loving people when my litter was born.  In fact the people moved off and left all of my litter in an outdoor pen with no food or water.  Luckily some neighbors there in the country learned of this and brought us some food and water a few days each week.   I have to eat all by myself because I am fearful another dog might take my food if there is one around.  But my foster mom says that I am the most loving and dearest, sweetest girl on the planet.    I love to snuggle with her and I love to have her tell me how pretty that I am and loved, too. Naturally when I first meet new people, I am timid for just a short time and then I warm up when I feel that they will be nice to me.   I adore playing and being with other dogs and I could be at a dog park every day and I would be in heaven.  I could also live with other dogs or cats in a home and that would be fun too!  My foster mom says that I am like a Teddy Bear at night as I sleep right next to her in the best snuggle position ever.  I am crate trained and I truly like my crate and sometimes when I want some alone time I will go there on my own.  I would love to have a family with another dog that could be my best friend and show me the ropes of confidence.   I also would like to go to some fun training classes too.  I am smart and would love to learn more about being the best dog I can be.  I am using a harness right now and that is my best way to walk on a leash.  I will whine when I need to go outside but it is still hard for me to go 8 hours straight without going outside.  When I grow up I will be a 45 -50 pound girl.  I will be a loving and very devoted girl that you always be proud that you rescued and adopted.  Let’s be forever friends!   Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com right now!    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Sometimes in the rescue world our stories about a dog we are presenting for a home just kind of leaves us a little speechless for adequate words. This boy that we call “Good Friend Charlie” is one of those deep and touching stories that we know only God had a hand in making come true as he was rescued. His foster mom Rachel calls him “a dream dog!”  But when she stumbled upon him hanging out on her countryside property where she raises chickens and geese and many other dogs that belong to her…she was not so sure of his friendly intentions.  We believe Charles was dumped in her area where he roamed for approximately 3 months, many attempting to catch him but failing as he was smart and elusive.  He roamed onto foster mom, Rachel’s property and within 2 days came out of survival mode (he would bark and bark at her while she was outside tending to her geese and chickens) and when she offered him a blanket one night as he laid in her flowerbed all curled up in 10 degree weather, he soon came back into domesticated mode the next morning.  Because of being abandoned, Good Friend Charlie has some separation anxiety and will need you to be patient while you earn his trust that he won’t be abandoned again and that you will come back for him when you leave.  This boy loves all other animals; dogs, cats, geese, chickens and he loves people of all ages.  He is only 3 years of age and weighs 50 pounds.  We think the grey on his face might be from early stress in his life.  Maybe from uncertainty that he has felt in whatever former life he lived. Good Friend Charlie is well-trained and knows how to sit, stay, lay down, off and wait. He even waits for permission to exit the door and waits for you to tell him he can eat his food.  He does well on a leash but he prefers to roam on his own and rarely will go more than 4 feet from you. This special dog would be wonderful for someone that does live on some acreage and just wants an indoor and outdoor companion and who is working from home or just retired and kicking back in their life.  He loves to ride in the car shotgun style in the passenger seat and he is a homebody’s best friend.  Charlie knows exactly what he wants and will alert you with a few barks to let you know he wants to go outside, or his water bowl is empty, or even when he is ready for bedtime and he is house trained.  He does have some jealousy if you are giving attention to other animals but he is easily corrected and gets better daily as he learns more about coexisting in this new home environment.  He takes to correction like a champ!  If you really want to adopt a dog that is the definition of “Man’s Best Friend” then Good Friend Charlie is your dog for a lifetime.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to ask about an adoption application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm
