Story
Rusty is a 2 year, 57 pound, mixed breed (possibly Vizsla).  If ever there was a pup in need of a happy ever after, it's Rusty.  Why?  Check out his background below.  And for more pix and videos of Rusty, check out his post on our Website. Personality: friendly, affectionate, resilient, active, loves water, good in car Good with: people; will do best as only dog Training: knows basic commands such as "sit" and "no"; leash trained Estimated date of birth: September 2023 Weight: 57 pounds Medical: up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped Location: Currently located with a foster in Texas, but if adopted, will come to the NJ area on our next monthly transport. Background: This boy was the last dog to be pulled from the shelter's kill list.  Why? It certainly wasn't because he was a bad boy. Instead, it was because of his eye. He had a growth in his eye that was bloody and obscuring his vision. Others didn't want to risk taking on his vet bills, but we couldn't let this sweet soul be euthanized.  We got him to a vet and were able to have the growth surgically removed.  We then got the good news that the growth was not cancerous!!!  Yay for Rusty! But... Since then, Rusty has been with his foster, just waiting for someone to fall in love and take him home.  He gets along wonderfully with people; he has female friends, so we think he prefers females. He did well with males, but needs to meet first.  He's a higher-energy boy (who wouldn't be after regaining sight!) and would do great with an active family.  He's good on a leash and in the car.  He's already picked up on a few commands, such as 'sit,' and he understands 'no.' Rusty is more than ready to find his forever home and start a new chapter of life - one filled with love and happiness! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lila is a beautiful 3-5 yr old Lab/Vizsla mix weighing in at 54 lbs! This girl spent a majority of her young life on her own fending for herself without much socialization. Lila is learning to trust humans. She is an absolute treasure!! Sweet disposition, shy and very well behaved. Crate trained/ house trained beautiful manners. Lila MUST have another dog in the family. She is playful and happiest with canine companions. She truly is a pack dog and gains confidence surrounded by others. Good with all sizes, breeds. Lila has bonded with her foster sister Missy and would do well if they could be adopted together. She needs to have a very patient owner who will allow her to take her time building trust and seeking out affection on her own terms. She is a very low maintenance dog. Must have a fenced backyard. She loves to play with other dogs and she loves her crate for her quiet time and her own space. Lila has been spayed. I f you would like to learn more about Lila and are interested in adopting her, please put your application in here:  http://www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org All pets are current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Story
Hello, I’m Scout! A 1.5 year old, 36 pound Duck Toller/Viszla mix. I was part of a cruelty and abandonment case with a bunch of my friends but already looking so much better! I’m very food motivated. I enjoy all types of soft food, hard food, treats, fruit, and most importantly, bananas! If you share one, I’ll be your best friend. Don’t let my history fool you. Despite having a difficult start to life, I know how to be happy and enjoy myself. I’m excited for this new beginning and I love meeting new people. I am learning I can finally be my true friendly self. I’m super playful so if you would like to play fetch or run around the backyard with a few toys, I’m your guy. But I have to say I do also really enjoy just relaxing with you, especially if you’re willing to provide a belly rub. It’s funny because I haven’t walked much on a leash my whole life, but my new friends here are telling me that I learn so fast because I don’t pull them along at all. I just follow wherever they want me to go is fine. Exploring is fun if I’m with you; I'm avery loyal guy! I’ve already learned some basic commands like sit and paw. Check the proof below if you don’t believe me! I’m so excited to continue to learn and grow and enjoy every single day. I truly believe every day is a gift!Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog.We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org)Thanks so much.
