Story
Pico de Gallo is a fun-sized Weimaraner with a name spicy enough to make your heart salsa. With floppy ears so majestic they deserve their own fan club, he struts through life like a velvet tank. He’s got good energy, the sweetness of a grandma's cookie jar, and a strong appreciation for comfort zones (preferably with throw pillows). This big guy is ready to retire in the country!! *Pico's adoption fee is waived thanks to a super fan for covering his fee!* - Pico is fine home alone! - Pico can live really well with other dogs! - Pico is great on leash! - Pico is really good at doing his potties in the backyard! Here are some notes from his foster: Pico is such a gentle soul and one of the sweetest dogs we've fostered. He's quiet (I've never heard him bark) but can be anxious in new situations, so he needs a patient understanding home that will give him time to feel comfortable. I work from home and during the day he hangs in my office with me (usually under my desk which is quite a sight since he's a big boy!). At night he sleeps on our bed with us. He gets along great with my other dog (a small scruffy mutt) and he has had no problem meeting family and friends' dogs who have come to the house. New people tend to scare him, so he usually avoids my friends who come over - if we have people over he'll usually stay in our bedroom as he prefers a quiet / calm environment. He is mostly potty trained now - he had a few accidents when he first got here, but now that he knows the routine, he's pretty solid about always going potty outside in the yard. His leash skills need a little work - although he does not react at all to people or other dogs on a leash, he generally pulls a lot and he's fairly strong, so it can be a challenge. He's wonderful on car rides - I've had him in the car multiple times for 1+ hours and he's quiet / not anxious at all. He just calmly lays in the backseat. Pico will thrive in a calm, understanding home where he can come out of his shell and grow his confidence.

Story
Donner is a dream companion for walkers or runners...He's is off leash trained and when asked, will stay close (i.e. heal). Videos of his training, obedience, companionship are available online. He's very smart, learns quickly, and eager to please. He knows all basic commands, plus special ones. He enjoys car rides. He comes with two dog beds plus other gear. He has a beautiful chocolate brown coat--silky to the touch. He's ~50% Blue Weimaraner. He's NOT a big barker...not noisy. When the doorbell is rung, he'll run to the door and bark about 6 barks and then stops. He rarely barks outside. He lives happily with 2 cats ages 5 & 17. He loves humans of ALL ages, genders, occupations. In-home, he's a 64lb lap dog. He doesn't have a lot of experience playing with other dogs. He has sometimes chewed shoes if alone for 6++ hours. Has full vet records and current vaccines. Has chip. Owner has Alzheimers & can't keep him. You can see him live via FaceTime.

Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance. I recently went on a field trip with one of my PHS Volunteer friends! Here's how I did: Remi was a joy to handle today during our tour of Robert E. Woolley State Park in Burlingame. We started with a short walk around the building before Remi hopped into the back seat of my car as soon as I opened the door. Upon arrival at the park, the landscaping crew was hard at work with leaf blowers and zero-turn riding mowers zipping around, but Remi showed no signs of discomfort or sensitivity to the noise. We walked a lap around the lagoon, and when we reached the bridge over the inlet, Remi was initially hesitant to cross, possibly due to the wooden planking or the sensation of walking above water. However, she quickly gained confidence and followed me across the bridge, glancing over the edge to observe the water below several times. Along our walk, Remi encountered a variety of other dogs, from a small Shih Tzu to a large Bernese Mountain Dog. She passed each one politely, without pulling, and ignored the vocal dogs, consistently staying by my side. On the fishing pier, she was again uncertain about stepping onto the decking, but after testing the surface with one paw, she confidently proceeded. We spent some time in a grassy area where Remi calmly watched people walk, jog, and enjoy time with their dogs nearby.  On the ride back to Lantos, Remi enjoyed the sights and smells with her nose out the window, perfectly relaxed. Throughout our outing, she was well-behaved and displayed excellent manners.Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available.
