Story
Riot A18770748 lb. neutered male, approx 3 years old -This sweet boy may need a little time to feel comfortable, but once he starts to trust you, you get to see his playful side come shining through. He was a little nervous in the yard at first and kept his distance, but a squeaky toy caught his attention and brought him running over. After a few gentle pets, he started moving closer on his own.-Once we went somewhere quieter, he slowly made his way over to me. A toy really helped him come out of his shell, and before long he was pouncing on it and then climbing right into my lap! He was still a little unsure about being pet, but he was clearly trying and wanted to be close.-And then the toys really brought out his personality. He loved chasing them, picking them up, shaking them around and bringing them right back to me so I could throw them again. He already knows how fun a game of fetch can be!-He walks well with minimal pulling and seems to be a good potty holder. Like any dog entering a new home, he’ll need time to adjust to new surroundings and routines. He’s looking for someone patient and gentle who will let him go at his own pace and give him the time he needs to build confidence. Once he feels safe, I think this sweet boy is going to be a really fun and affectionate companion. -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30**We ask that if you’re looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story
Rolf is a sweet boy that had a rough start at life, but it has not changed his happy nature. He was an accidental litter of unwanted pups that found their way to the shelter in Lexington Ms. They came to me to foster and find forever homes. He is very playful and full of energy. His goofy nature will keep you smiling and will warm your heart when he curls up with you to rest and relax after a day of fun. Rolf is in MS and will be transported by Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

No apartments.Fence Requirements: NoneSpecial Info: Bailey is a very special dog to us at I Heart Dogs. She is a very good girl but panics in new places and situations. She needs a home who understands she is happiest staying home -- she is not a "partner in crime" type of dog, she is a "I'll be waiting for you when you get home" type. She does not want to go for car rides or walks, she does not want to go pick out new toys at the pet store, and she does not want to go visit Gramma's house. She will take some time to settle in to her new home, but once she does, you will be her everything.DOG APPLICATION: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26CAT APPLICATION: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41EXOTICS APPLICATION: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46The information we are providing for this animal was developed based on observations and assessments in a shelter or foster environment. We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
