Story
Max Sterling is his name, puppy love and fun is his game! If there's water to splash in, a toy to carry, a trail to explore, or a new friend to greet, Max is already halfway there with a wagging tail and the kind of puppy enthusiasm that's impossible not to smile at. Equal parts cuddle buddy, adventure apprentice, and joyful little shadow, he's growing into the kind of dog who makes everyday life feel a little more fun simply by being part of it. Go watch Max Sterling on YouTube, then come right back to read more about this silver-coated sweetheart. You'll get to see his happy personality in action, his easygoing nature, and why everyone who meets him seems to leave with a grin. https://youtu.be/gbsyE4ORxFE Estimated to be around 4 months old, Max currently weighs 33 pounds. He looks every bit like a Weimaraner, possibly with a dash of Pit Bull mixed in, though as with all rescue dogs, his breed and age are simply our best guess. Whatever combination created him certainly knew what it was doing. From his sleek silver coat and expressive amber eyes to his athletic build and thoughtful gaze, Max has all the classic good looks of a young Weimaraner paired with the warm, people-loving personality we all adore. For a puppy, Max already has a wonderfully solid foundation. He is being fostered in a loving home where he's learning all the important things that help puppies grow into fantastic family dogs. He has lovely house manners, walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and approaches new experiences with curiosity instead of worry. He's eager to learn, highly treat motivated, and seems to genuinely enjoy figuring out what you're asking of him. Max is wonderfully social too. He happily plays with dogs both big and small and has the kind of easygoing confidence that allows him to fit into different groups without making a fuss. New people are simply future friends waiting to say hello, and he greets them with the cheerful optimism only a happy puppy can deliver. One thing you'll discover quickly is that Max is fairly certain water makes every activity better. Kiddie pool? Fantastic. Creek? Even better. If your idea of a perfect weekend includes hikes, lake days, backyard sprinklers, or simply having a four-legged sidekick along for the ride, Max is ready to enthusiastically sign up. Like every puppy, Max will continue learning as he grows, but he's already showing all the signs of becoming an incredibly well-rounded companion. With continued positive training, plenty of adventures, and a family excited to help him discover the world, this handsome young guy has all the ingredients to become an extraordinary lifelong best friend. If you're looking for a puppy who's affectionate, confident, playful, eager to learn, and already off to an amazing start, Max just might be your perfect match. Story
Stop scrolling… because Scarlet Mae is the kind of dog people don’t forget. From the moment you meet her, she has this way of making you feel like you’ve known her forever. Maybe it’s those adorable floppy doppie ears that bounce with every step, or the way she looks at you like you’re already her favorite person. Whatever it is, it works! Because Scarlet wins people over almost instantly. She’s affectionate, attentive, and completely people-oriented in the best way. The kind of dog who doesn’t just want to be near you, she wants to be with you. Whether she’s leaning in for hugs, soaking up pets, or gently asking for just a little more love, Scarlet has a way of turning even the simplest moments into something special. Watch her video and you'll fall in love with her: https://youtu.be/8oHuAjWX9_Q?si=tkwRq8s072a9_RWw Scarlet Mae is believed to be a Pointer/Lab mix approximately 4 years old and currently weighs 48 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue dog, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. One thing we do know is that this girl is so people oriented and attentive to you when you're with her, it’s probably one of our favorite things about Scarlet. All she wants to do is make you happy and put a smile on your face. If you watched her video, then you know exactly what we are talking about. Now just imagine what that feeling is like when she is actually with you! She is even good with kids, hanging out with a 12-year-old here at the rescue. She snuggled up next to him on the couch, asking for affection without being too pushy and was so content sitting next to him getting all the love and affection. We believe she would make a great family dog. Another thing we love about Scarlet is the way she will sit in your lap letting you give her the biggest full body hugs and when you stop… she’ll lean even closer to you. Almost like she's saying, “hey friend, just 5 more minutes please.” It’s very sweet. Scarlet is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced her to. She loves to romp around in the yard with the other dogs, playing chase and exploring with her doggy friends. For the most part, Scarlet is either enjoying the sunshine and fresh air while the other pups around her are playing, off exploring, or getting loved on by her people. When Scarlet first meets a new doggy friend, she prefers slower introductions to get to know her new pal and will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she’s not up for play in that moment or if things are getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. In a home, she will do best with a medium energy male that enjoys those relaxing moments together, will be up for a game of chase every now and then, and will also be mindful of her boundaries when she’s ready to relax. If you don’t have other dogs, that’s fine too! She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable and open up nor does she need another dog to fulfill her energy needs. She is a confident love bug all on her own and will be just as happy being the center of your attention. She also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if Scarlet has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Scarlet is also a smart girl and is a quick learner too. She already knows how to sit, is mastering her leash skills, and has shown us that she is crate trained and potty trained as well. She is very people oriented, eager to please, and loves a good tasty treat. All the fundamentals that make any additional training you want to do with her that much more enjoyable for you both. She really impressed us with how quickly she responded to every command we gave her. Scarlet has the type of energy that is perfectly in the middle. Not too high and not too low. She can match whatever energy you need her to. Want to snuggle all day? Sign Scarlet up. Want to take a walk around the neighborhood or go exploring the trails? Scarlet is already at the door with her leash on. She would also thrive in a home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs, soak in the sun, and porch sit with you during those nice summer evenings. We are willing to test Scarlet Mae with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Shredder is a stunning 6.5-month-old brindle boy whose proof that sometimes the best really is saved for last. The last of his litter, this handsome pup is what we like to call bomb proof—easygoing, adaptable, and ready to fit into just about any loving home. We think he's a Pittie/Catahoula mix, but whatever his DNA says, 100% of it is good boy. First things first, you should definitely watch their video: https://youtu.be/J-CijmQWwyA?si=ktlOgEK9YNi9Of5m It perfectly captures their playful, silly puppy energy. Fostered in a busy home with kids and multiple dogs, Shredder has taken everything in stride. He's incredibly well-mannered for such a young pup and already has all the basics down. He's crate trained, potty trained, walks beautifully on leash, and is quickly becoming his foster mom's favorite running partner. If you've been dreaming of a four-legged jogging buddy, Shredder is already lacing up his imaginary sneakers. When he's not out exploring, he's happy to curl up for snuggles or entertain himself with a pile of toys. He has that perfect puppy balance of playful energy and a soft, cuddly side that melts hearts. Shredder has been around dogs of all ages and personalities and gets along wonderfully with everyone—even the grumpy senior dogs who appreciate their personal space. He'd love a canine sibling in his forever home, but he'd also thrive as your one and only as long as he has regular playdates, adventures, and opportunities to socialize. Because he's such a thoughtful, well-behaved pup, we think he has great potential to live with cats as well, and we're happy to cat test him for the right family. All Shredder is looking for is a home with a yard, lots of love, and people who are ready to include him in their adventures. Fair warning: this gorgeous brindle boy is a total head-turner. Be prepared for strangers to stop you just to ask about him everywhere you go. If you're looking for a puppy who's already mastered the important stuff while still having all the fun, joy, and adventure of puppyhood ahead of him, Shredder is ready to be your perfect match. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69a1ed94afc5f28e9c010a4d Questions? While we’re always playing a fun guessing game with rescue breeds, we believe Gracie is a Catahoula mix! She has a beautiful white and brindle coat that is truly captivating; it’s the kind of coat you can’t look at just once, as you’re constantly discovering new patterns and variations in her stripes. Weighing in at a solid 56lbs, she’s compact enough to be your favorite plus one for errands, yet has a heart that’s clearly oversized! She’s the ideal size for someone who wants a buddy who fits comfortably on the sofa next to them. She is currently thriving in a foster home where she’s already proving what a star student she can be. Gracie is gentle and patient, she is also kid-friendly, making her a wonderful addition to a home with children. She’s familiar with her crate and settles down beautifully. She’s a dream in the house, calm, focused, and very respectful of her boundaries (and her snacks!). Whether it’s a car ride to the park or a quiet evening in, she’s just happy to be part of the family. When it comes to other dogs, she is an absolute rockstar! She handles leash greetings with total grace and is always down for a game of tag with her canine friends. She’s a very balanced girl who gets along with almost everyone. She’d be a fantastic addition to a home with an existing dog who wants a playful, easygoing sister to romp around with. She is also a devoted soul who is more than happy to thrive as your one and only, soaking up every bit of your attention. The jury is still out on whether Gracie’s a cat person, but she’s definitely got the curiosity! To make sure it’s a purrfect match, she’s ready to have a supervised sleepover with a feline. It would be the best way to see if she and a kitty sibling can become the ultimate besties. Don’t have a massive backyard? No problem! This girl is the ultimate apartment candidate. She’s easy to exercise and knows exactly how to flip the off switch once she’s indoors. Her foster mom says she’s happiest just hanging out and cuddling, making her the perfect neighbor. Her ideal home is anywhere her favorite person happens to be! In short, she’s a sensitive soul with a love for other dogs, and a serious talent for belly rubs. She’s the loyal, easy to love companion you’ve been dreaming of, wrapped up in a sweet, wiggly package.
