Story
Meet Jack Henry — a 6‑year‑old, 25 lb Whippet/Terrier mix who might just be the easiest foster his family has ever had!   Quick Facts: Name: Jack Henry Breed: Whippet/Terrier Mix Age: 6 years old Weight: 25 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes, but not needed Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested Good with Kids: Yes Energy Level: Low to medium Fence Required: No   About Jack Henry’s Breed: Our best guess is that Jack Henry is a Whippet/Terrier mixed breed. Whippet/Terrier mixes often blend the gentle, sensitive nature of the Whippet with the lively, clever personality of a Terrier, creating a dog who is both affectionate and fun‑spirited. They tend to be athletic yet easygoing, enjoying bursts of play followed by long stretches of lounging with their people. These mixes are usually friendly, people‑oriented, and adaptable, making them wonderful companions for a wide range of families.   Their ideal home is one that offers a balance of activity and relaxation — a place where they can enjoy daily walks, playtime, and plenty of cozy snuggle spots. They thrive with humans who include them in family life, appreciate their affectionate nature, and provide gentle structure. With their sweet temperament and moderate energy, they fit beautifully into homes looking for a loving, loyal companion who’s just as happy adventuring as they are curling up under a blanket.   What to Love about Jack Henry: This sweet, gentle boy is the perfect blend of fun and laid‑back. He loves chasing a ball, curling up beside you, and absolutely insists on being covered with a blanket when he sleeps — even on the couch! He’s a champion lap‑dog, a fantastic car‑rider, and an all‑around joyful companion. Anyone would be lucky to call him theirs.   Jack Henry is wonderfully easygoing and enjoys weekday walks and weekend trips to the dog park, and he does beautifully on leash. He gets along well with other dogs and has played happily with them in his past, though he hasn’t met cats yet. He loves everyone he meets, including kids, and has excellent house manners. He’s fully potty trained and crate trained, though he prefers not to be crated — and he’s trustworthy enough to be left uncrated when you’re away. He especially enjoys trips to the dog park to stretch his legs and get his zoomies out!   Above all, Jack Henry is a deeply loving dog who wants to be part of the family — cuddled, adored, and included in everyday life.   Jack Henry’s Main Highlights: 6‑year‑old, 25 lb Whippet/Terrier mix with an incredibly easygoing, lovable personality One of the easiest foster dogs his family has ever had Loves chasing a ball, snuggling close, and must be covered with a blanket when he sleeps Total lap‑lover and fantastic car‑rider Great on leash and enjoys regular walks during the week Gets along well with other dogs; hasn’t met cats yet Loves everyone he meets, including kids Fully potty trained and crate trained, though he prefers being uncrated — and has perfect house manners Enjoys the dog park and getting his zoomies out Sweet, affectionate, and ready to be a cherished member of the family Truly a good boy who would fit beautifully into almost any home    With his sweet nature, easy temperament, and affectionate heart, Jack Henry’s the kind of dog who fits effortlessly into almost any home. Story
Meet Peri.   At first glance, she may look like a Cattle Dog/Heeler mix — freckles, expressive eyes, compact 33-pound frame — but her spirit is something uniquely her own. Peri is just one year old, and while she carries herself with quiet beauty, her early life was marked by hardship and mistreatment at the hands of the very people who should have protected her.   And yet… she is still loving.   Peri has spent the past several months working closely with a remarkable professional behaviorist, and the transformation has been incredible. She has learned that not all hands hurt, that gentle voices exist, and that safety can be real. She now approaches new people and experiences with growing curiosity, though she still carries a healthy caution. Her trust is not given away freely — it is earned — and that is exactly what makes the bond with her so profound.   She is deeply affectionate and incredibly sensitive. While she resembles a Heeler in looks, she is not a bold, bossy alpha personality. Peri is a soft soul. She needs a steady, protective human who will move at her pace, celebrate her small victories, and help her continue building confidence. With patience and kindness, she blossoms. And when she chooses you as her safe place, the loyalty and love she gives back are immeasurable.   Peri adores other dogs and thrives in their company. She has shown no prey drive, and her trainer/foster describes her as so docile and gentle that a respectful cat companion would likely be welcomed just fine. She is leash trained, crate trained, and housebroken — truly a wonderful little housemate who wants nothing more than to be near her person.   A fenced yard would give her the security she enjoys, and a home where she isn’t crated for long nine-hour workdays would help her continue to grow. If you work from home, she would happily sit nearby, offering quiet companionship and the kind of empathetic presence that feels almost human. Peri listens. She watches. She connects.   Her past will not disappear overnight. Healing is not a snap-of-the-fingers process. But for the right person — someone with patience, compassion, and a heart open to earning a once-broken dog’s trust — Peri will be extraordinary. She may not be a carefree Golden Retriever personality, but she will steal your heart just the same… freckles and all.   Peri is special. And the person who chooses her will be special too.   To learn more about adopting Peri, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

Lizzie is a total survivor that is ready to find her person. She is currently staying at a boarding facility (Animal Bed & Breakfast) while we try and find her a foster or even better a forever home! About Lizzie: 1-2 year old spayed female Petite 35lbs prefers women but warms up to men over time Very Active, busy bee personality Completed a 3 week professional board & train program Crate/Potty Trained Microchipped, UTD on preventatives & vaccines Has not been tested with cats/kids but would probably do best in a home with older children/ no small pets due to her high energy levels Lizzie has not formerly been tested with other dogs but has shown not reactivity to dogs while in boarding and has shown friendly body language. We do believe that she would probably benefit to a home with a playmate with proper introductions. Lizzie absolutely needs an active home and would love to be someone's hiking or jogging partner.
