Story
PWRESCUE.ORG *PHOENIX METRO AREA ONLY* Meet Jilly — A Sweet, Shy Little Terrier With a Big Heart! Jilly is a 1½-year-old, 22-pound terrier mix (likely Parson Russell Terrier/Wire-Haired Fox Terrier) who came to our rescue when her previous owner could no longer care for her. She’s a gentle, sweet girl with a soft spirit and a quiet, cautious way of taking in the world. Jilly is shy and sensitive, and she needs time, patience, and consistency to feel safe. New people and environments can be overwhelming for her, so building trust will be a gradual process—not something that happens overnight. But for someone willing to go at her pace, the reward is truly special. As she begins to feel secure, her affectionate and tender personality starts to shine through. Jilly is not a “turn-key” dog—she’s what we lovingly call a “project” pup. She will need an adopter who understands that her confidence will grow slowly with gentle encouragement and positive experiences. Right now, when she feels unsure, she may “pancake” (freeze) or try to retreat, so she’ll need patient guidance to help her navigate new situations. One thing that really helps Jilly blossom is the presence of another dog. She takes comfort in canine companionship and will require a home with a calm, confident dog who can help guide her and show her that the world isn’t so scary. She gets along beautifully with other dogs, especially those with a gentle, easygoing play style. A secure, fenced yard is also important so she can explore and decompress safely. And despite her shy nature, Jilly has an adorable, playful side—she’s a little collector! Shoes and small “treasures” may mysteriously disappear, only to be found tucked into her bed. It’s a sweet glimpse of the curious puppy she’s becoming. Jilly would thrive in a calm, patient home that values kindness, routine, and understanding. With time and love, she will continue to gain confidence and grow into a devoted, loving companion. If you have a gentle heart and the patience to help a shy dog feel safe, Jilly may be the perfect match for you. Jilly is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.    If you are interested in this sweetheart, please visit our website at:  https://pwrescue.org and click on the "Adoption Application" button to complete an application.  Pathways Home Animal Rescue August 1, 2026, 12:53 pm

Story
‼️🚨URGENT: Foster needed for Heidi 🚨‼️ Born 7/6/25, Heidi is a beautiful brindle Wire Terrier / Shepherd mix with a mellow, thoughtful personality. She’s the kind of dog who prefers observing the world from a cozy spot rather than being in the middle of the chaos. Calm, curious, and independent, she’s been taking life one small step at a time as she learns about the world around her. Heidi is happiest when she has a comfortable place to relax while her people go about their day. She enjoys watching, learning routines, and slowly gaining confidence in her surroundings. 🛋️🐾 She already has an impressive list of skills: 🚪 Fully potty trained and uses the doggy door independently 🛏️ Sleeps through the night and knows “go to bed” for her crate 🐾 Understands “go outside” and even “walk” 🍖 Food motivated and eager to learn 🏡 Safe to leave out in a tidy space — she isn’t destructive when alone Heidi is also a polite eater who prefers grazing from an auto-feeder and regulates her food well without guarding or overeating. Bath time may not be her favorite activity, but she handled it calmly and politely like a little lady. 🛁 She enjoys playing in the backyard, especially in the mornings after coming out of her crate. Right now she prefers yard time over walks, though that may change as her confidence continues to grow. Heidi does well with other dogs and coexists peacefully. When guests visited the home, she chose to relax quietly in her open crate — her safe space — rather than join the excitement. It’s a perfect example of her gentle, independent nature. Her ideal home will be patient and understanding, giving her time to settle in and feel safe. Dogs like Heidi often form incredibly deep bonds once they trust their people, becoming loyal companions who truly appreciate their home. She doesn’t need a loud or busy household — just a steady, loving place where she can relax, feel secure, and let her sweet personality shine in her own time. 🌸🐾 If you’re looking for a calm, thoughtful companion who will quietly become part of your heart and home, Heidi might be the perfect match. 🏠 Interested in fostering? Story
Say hi to Bea, she is a 2 year-old Chihuahua/Jack Russel/Doxi mix weighing 20 pounds.  She is the sweetest lady who is just looking for a proper cuddler. Bea’s only goal is to love and be loved. She enjoys her long walks filled with different smells just as much as she enjoys curling up on a warm couch. She does very well with other dogs, cats unknown. She can be a nervous nelly in new environments but it does not take long for her fun and unique personality to shine. Not much is known about her past but she comes from a home filled with many dogs where she had puppies and taken away too quickly. She is looking for a patient and trustworthy parent she can gain her confidence back with.  She is potty trained/leash trained and knows to handle her business outside. If you are looking for a bundle of joy who is just as excited for you to come home as much as you are, Bea is the gal for you! Beemo aka Bea! loves to say hi to new people as long as they have a calm and welcoming presence, as she is still gaining her trust back with humans. Her favorite hobbies include rolling around in grass, soaking up some sun with people she trusts, playing with her toys, and naps after a yummy dinner.   She is a well-behaved, happy, and easy-going girl. If you are looking for a loyal companion to care for, Bea would love to meet you.   Bea is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee of $250 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. Story
Hello Lexie! Lexie is a gorgeous, wire-coated Jack Russell Terrier. She is very playful but knows how to relax when properly exercised. She loves to hunt outdoor critters and is quite social. Lexie is a 4-year-old, 25-pound spayed female who is house and kennel trained, has basic training commands in place, and walks well on a leash. She gets along with other dogs but prefers playing with humans and toys. She is friendly with adults and older children (ages 12 and up), as her energy can be a bit too much for smaller kids. She would do well as an only dog or with another respectful dog. Lexie was taken in by her current foster after her previous owner passed away. She and her sibling were found in poor condition due to the owner's medical issues, but Lexie has since been fully rehabilitated, vetted, and trained by her foster. She is now healthy and ready for the next chapter of her journey. Lexie is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $350, which helps cover medical expenses for the rescue.  If you are looking for the perfect companion and have the love in your heart to help Lexie, please complete our online application at www.helpadogsmile.org.   Her foster mom will then reach out to you.   August 2, 2026, 10:18 pm
