Story
Lupa is very energetic little girl. She is about 3 years old and is a wired hair terrier mix. She does like bark a lot and needs a lot of space to run around and play. She is not good with other dogs or with other animals in the home.  Lupa can be aggressive with strangers at times. She needs a lot of supervision as she can be destructive to household items and has seperation anxiety as well.  Lupa has trouble with one of her eyes and may require daily cleaning of her eyes.We do not have a central location to see our dogs.  Meeting any dog is by appointment ONLY currently. Appointments can be set up to meet any dog in San Diego. Currently we are unable to do any out-of-state adoptions. ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. Meet Angelito!   He is a 5 month old, 9 pound wirehaired terrier mix.  Angelito is a sweet, spunky puppy who is wise beyond his months. He’s great with other dogs, enjoys being outside, rides well in the car, and is making great progress with potty training. One of Angelito’s best qualities is how well he does in his crate. He sleeps through the night without whining and settles nicely in his crate while his foster mom is at work. While he’s still a little shy with new people, Angelito gets braver every day and would likely thrive in a home with another friendly dog to help show him the world isn’t so scary. He’s already becoming comfortable with everyday noises and new experiences, and it’s been so rewarding to watch his personality blossom. If you’re looking for a gentle, lovable puppy with plenty of potential, Angelito might be your perfect match. His adoption fee is $350.  A refundable training deposit of $100 will be also due upon adoption. Training must be provided in a timely fashion to ensure our pups become the best canine citizens. The training deposit will be refundable within 3 months of the adoption date. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  June 18, 2026, 9:03 pm

Story
Meet Han Solo! 🚀✨ Searching the galaxy for his forever family! Age: 3.5 months old Estimated Adult Size: Petite & compact! Not expected to grow bigger than 15–18 lbs. Social Status: Dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and people-loving. His Origin Story Han Solo comes from humble but incredibly lucky beginnings. His brave mama was found very pregnant in Mexico and was rescued just in time before giving birth. Thanks to that rescue mission, Han and his littermates have only known safety, warmth, and love. Personality & Charm 💙 True to his name, this little guy has plenty of personality and a touch of scoundrel charm! He is a delightful mix of cuddly and rambunctious, and he isn't afraid to use his voice to tell you exactly what he thinks. When he isn’t busy exploring or running circles around the living room, he wants nothing more than to curl up right next to you for a movie marathon. He also rides beautifully in the car, making him the perfect co-pilot for all your daily errands and weekend road trips. Training & Puppy Progress 🐕 Han is currently living in a wonderful foster home where he gets to socialize daily with other dogs and cats. He’s already making great strides in the academy: Crate Training: A+ student! He sleeps soundly in his crate at night. Life Skills: He is actively working hard on his potty training and leash walking. Puppy Quirks: He still has that typical, playful "nippy puppy" attitude, so he will need a family who can continue guiding him with positive reinforcement and plenty of chew toys. Could you be the forever family for him? If you have room in your heart (and on your couch) for a pint-sized adventurer with a massive heart, Han Solo is ready to jump to lightspeed right into your life! 🌙 👉 Apply to adopt Han Solo today!

Story
Salma was found as a stray and taken to the San Diego Humane Society to be reunited (hopefully) with her family. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, so we welcomed Salma as a Frosted Face on June 9th. She is estimated to be about 15 years old and weighs just over 5 lbs. Salma is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we can learn more her in a home environment while she enjoys lots of TLC. Her foster mom shares: "This tiny queen is fully committed to enjoying her retirement years in comfort and style. Here's what I've learned so far: ✨ Great with dogs of all sizes and cats ✨ A little wobbly when standing, but surprisingly speedy when she decides it's time to get somewhere ✨ May be hard of hearing—she doesn't seem to hear me when I call her, but honestly, she might just be choosing what deserves her attention ✨ Loves being held and carried around in a sling ✨ Enjoys a good midday nap (or several) ✨ Does great when left alone for several hours at a time, so if you work outside the home, she should do just fine ✨ Incredibly quiet—I often forget she's even in the room. The only time I've heard her bark is when my dogs start barking and she decides to join the conversation Her current daily schedule: 😴 Bedtime around 6:30–7:00 PM 😴 Sleeps straight through the night 😴 Wake up refreshed and ready for breakfast 😴 Return to lounging duties 😴 Squeezes in a few quality naps between naps Salma is sweet, easygoing, and happiest when she's cozy and close to her people. Basically, she's looking for a retirement plan that includes premium naps, being carried around like royalty, occasional snacks, and a staff dedicated to meeting her cuddle requirements. Applications for the position are now being accepted!" Interested in meeting Salma? Please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
