Story
Rio is a distinguished gentleman. He’s a 5 year, neutered, Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. He’s pretty neutral to other dogs in public with a little space, but will need more work on this. I provide free training support to get him settled and continue his progress. He may be able to have some dog pals in the future with enough work, & possibly can be acclimated to cats due to low prey drive. Rio loves to cuddle but also has a sense of independence, so he’s not clingy. He’s always ready to play! We really think that he’d love a home with children, he’s done fantastic with them coming and going in his pet sitter’s house. Rio is very smart and is a quick learner. He comes with free training support, obedience and tricks. He knows that people count on him for unconditional love and laugher. Will you be his new family?

Please contact Lowell Nelson (lowelln@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.happy boy looking for fresh start and love! RANDY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Randy      Best Guess for Breed: Pointer and shepherd mix     Best Guess for Age:   4.5 years as of February 2026       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   42 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.    Randy is Looking For:  This handsome guy landed in the shelter through no fault of his own. He is eagerly looking ahead to his new one. The one where he gets his own humans for long sniffy walks and romps and all the adventures they can dream up. He's well out of the puppy yips and is in his prime as an adult dog, so he knows what's most important in life: being safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:   Randy is very sweet and is good houseguest.  He’s great in the house on his own when we leave him - doesn’t chew or destroy anything.  He is getting used to the crate and sleeps well overnight, and his walking manners are improving!  He is a lovely dog that is great at entertaining himself, protecting you from dust bunnies, and being your loyal companion!   Heartworm information: Randy is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Randy has completed this activity restriction period   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Courtney Nobles (courtneyn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet girl ISO fresh start and love! RILEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Riley      Best Guess for Breed:   Pointer mix   Best Guess for Age:  4.5 years as of March 2026      SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  42 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs!  We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Riley is Looking For:     Her forever home! This sweet girl landed in the shelter through no fault of her own. At a bit under five years old, she's past her puppy days but is up for adventure - she's eager for sniffy walks and romps and world exploration with her humans! A cushy dog bed, quality kibble, and lots of snuggles round out her wish list. But most of all she wants to know where she belongs, that she's safe and loved. What do you say? Do you have space in your home and your heart for Riley?   What My Foster Says About Me:  From her overnight foster: 'Riley was such a lovely houseguest on Saturday night! I would describe her as 'cautiously curious'. She was happy to meet new people and dogs, but when it comes to trying new things (i.e. entering new rooms or sniffing things outside), she prefers to dip her toes in slowly. She was kind to every person we have met so far, and loves attention. I don't have a dog of my own, but she did great with 1-on-1 meetings with dogs of all sizes, including a sassy Frenchie. She has a great family dog energy - she has energy for walks and playtime, but is very happy to watch TV on the couch (as long as it includes head scratches!). She was a little tentative to go into the crate, but once she's in, she is very well behaved. Also, she had no accidents in my house! She is a sweet, happy girl, and anyone would be lucky to have her!'   Heartworm information:   Riley is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated!
