Story
Meet Manchester City! Looking for her forever home! This sweet 4.5-month-old girl is searching for the perfect family to call her own! Loves being outdoors and would happily spend hours exploring and playing. Full of puppy energy and loves her toys. Gets along great with our resident dogs and would thrive in a home with another playful pup, though she could also do well as an only dog with plenty of attention and exercise. Does well with cats. Great with kids. Sleeps quietly in her crate at night. Currently working on potty training and making great progress! She would do best with an active family that can give her plenty of exercise, love, and room to run and play. A home with a fenced yard or plenty of space to run would be ideal. If you're looking for a fun, affectionate, and adventurous companion, this girl might be your perfect match! Adoption Day: July 11th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun! ##2763067##

Story
Messi is a sweet and playful pup who also all people, dogs, and cats if they're willing!  He loves to chase a ball and even brings it back sometimes. He sleeps quietly thru' the night in his crate (not as happy in the crate when his people are leaving, but doing pretty well for a baby just weeks into rescue, good boy!) Walking on a leash is a new concept and he's not sure about it, but taking that literal leap of faith to please his people (i.e. over a threshold to a lower step that he can't see!) and will gain confidence quickly. Even his first week in foster he was so close to potty trained, an accident here and there----which usually means human error, tbh!-----and so far 100% now in his second week, what a great, smart and wants-to-learn pup!! Great with all dogs so far, and with the resident cats jhis first week in foster (current home doesn't have cats, but he was great when they were in the same  house) and is just the most cuddly little lovebug. Be the lucky person who gets to take him home and OMG, you will absolutely melt that first time he quietly comes over and puts his chin on your lap to gaze at you with abiding love and adoration just because you're you. Adoption Day: Send a meet&greet request, fall in love with this sweet, loving, playful boy to be a reserved adopter, then take him home July 11th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM!! An approved adopter must be present to adopt. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun! ##2763068##

Please contact Lowell Nelson (lowelln@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.happy boy looking for fresh start and love! RANDY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Randy      Best Guess for Breed: Pointer and shepherd mix     Best Guess for Age:   4.5 years as of February 2026       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   42 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.    Randy is Looking For:  This handsome guy landed in the shelter through no fault of his own. He is eagerly looking ahead to his new one. The one where he gets his own humans for long sniffy walks and romps and all the adventures they can dream up. He's well out of the puppy yips and is in his prime as an adult dog, so he knows what's most important in life: being safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:   Randy is very sweet and is good houseguest.  He’s great in the house on his own when we leave him - doesn’t chew or destroy anything.  He is getting used to the crate and sleeps well overnight, and his walking manners are improving!  He is a lovely dog that is great at entertaining himself, protecting you from dust bunnies, and being your loyal companion!   Heartworm information: Randy is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Randy has completed this activity restriction period   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. This sweet girl landed in the shelter through no fault of her own. At a bit under five years old, she's past her puppy days but is up for adventure - she's eager for sniffy walks and romps and world exploration with her humans! A cushy dog bed, quality kibble, and lots of snuggles round out her wish list. But most of all she wants to know where she belongs, that she's safe and loved. What do you say? Do you have space in your home and your heart for Riley?   What My Foster Says About Me:  From her overnight foster: 'Riley was such a lovely houseguest on Saturday night! I would describe her as 'cautiously curious'. She was happy to meet new people and dogs, but when it comes to trying new things (i.e. entering new rooms or sniffing things outside), she prefers to dip her toes in slowly. She was kind to every person we have met so far, and loves attention. I don't have a dog of my own, but she did great with 1-on-1 meetings with dogs of all sizes, including a sassy Frenchie. She has a great family dog energy - she has energy for walks and playtime, but is very happy to watch TV on the couch (as long as it includes head scratches!). She was a little tentative to go into the crate, but once she's in, she is very well behaved. Also, she had no accidents in my house! She is a sweet, happy girl, and anyone would be lucky to have her!'   Heartworm information:   Riley is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Name:  Violeta       Best Guess for Breed:  Pointer and retriever mix Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of April 2026         SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight: 41 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs and cats! We haven't seen them with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations:   Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.   Violeta is Looking For:  Her forever home! Violeta landed in the shelter in Puerto Rico through no fault of her own is now coming to the DC area to get her new humans. She's eager to explore it with her new family. Sniffy walks and romps in parks and cuddles - that's high on her list, along with quality kibble and a cushy dog bed.  Most of all, though, she wants to know where she belongs, to be safe and loved. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see Violeta by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:  Meet Violeta or Your New Shadow, Hiking Buddy, and Professional Couch Potato. Are you looking for a girl who can do both? Violeta came from Puerto Rico and she is the ultimate lifestyle chameleon. Inside, she is a master of the low-chaos lifestyle. She seamlessly matches the chill vibe of her senior foster siblings and will happily hold down the couch while you WFH or binge Netflix. But outside? She’s a machine. We recently conquered a 7-mile trek, and she matched my pace stride-for-stride. Whatever your energy is today, she’s matching it. Her Best Quirk:The way she looks at you. Violeta is a girl who just wants to make you proud. She constantly checks in with these soulful, adoring looks, just waiting for a little affirmation that she’s a good girl. (Spoiler: She’s the best girl and LOVES belly rubs). She is a remarkably fast learner, potentially bilingual!
