Story
Ivy is a 5-6 year old, 10 lb girl. She came to us with her two puppies who have since been adopted. Now, it's this mama's turn! Though shy at first, as soon as she warms up, she is your shadow. She just needs patience to get to that point. Ivy is great with other dogs and cats. She is crate-trained and doing well with house-training. She enjoys sleeping in bed and snuggling up right next to you. Ivy enjoys following the other dogs around and learning from them. She is not comfortable on a leash with people she doesn't know and does REQUIRE a fenced in yard. Ivy is pretty quiet in her foster home and very low maintenance. Otter is a 2-year-old, 11 lb Xoloitzcuintli mix with a sweet, loving personality. She is happiest when she’s right by your side and truly enjoys being close to her people. Otter is both toy- and food-motivated and loves carrying her toys around, proudly squeaking them as she goes. She enjoys running and playing with other dogs and can happily have dog friends for playtime. However, Otter does not do well sharing resources like toys, so to truly thrive, she needs a home as an only dog. Playdates and supervised romps with other dogs are still a great fit for her! Otter is currently not comfortable walking on leash. We are actively working with her on this, but at this time she requires a securely fenced yard so she can safely exercise and explore. Otter would do best in a home that can provide consistency, patience, and lots of love—along with toys she can call her own. She is working diligently on house-training and crate-training. Malina is a 5-year-old, 13 lb Xolotizcuintli mix with a soft heart and an even softer spot for her people. She’s the definition of a velcro dog -- once she bonds with you, she wants to be right by your side (or preferably in your lap). She can be a little nervous when meeting new people, but don’t let that fool you, Malina warms up quickly and soon turns into a sweet shadow who happily trots over for pets, affection, and reassurance. Once she knows you’re safe, her loving personality shines. Malina does well with both dogs and cats and is polite and calm around them. While she enjoys toys and will entertain herself, she’s more low-key than playful and hasn’t shown much interest in roughhousing with other dogs. She’d be perfect for a relaxed household that appreciates a quieter companion. She is crate-trained and currently working on house-training. She’s comfortable using potty pads as well. And when it comes to motivation? Malina’s heart is easily won with food and treats: this girl loves to eat. Malina REQUIRES a fenced in yard. This charming little guy is equal parts playful, snuggly, and delightfully quirky. Melvin is crate-trained and has been doing great with house-training in his foster home. He’s a smart boy who thrives with routine and guidance -- especially from another confident dog. In fact, Melvin REQUIRES a home with another dog to help show him the ropes and build his confidence. He takes comfort in having a canine buddy and follows their lead beautifully, especially on leash. One of Melvin’s most adorable habits? He pops up onto his back legs to get a better view of what’s going on around him: it’s like having your own tiny meerkat keeping watch. Meet Ember. Ember is a little miracle with a very big heart. She and her sibling were found in the woods by a kind Samaritan hunter and his young son. From that moment on, Ember has shown just how special she is. Ember is about five to six months old and is a Chihuahua mix who is expected to stay small. She is the absolute sweetest puppy. She is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and unusually calm for such a young dog. Ember is a professional lap warmer who can happily spend the entire day curled up in your lap doing absolutely nothing. She has very low energy for a puppy and is perfectly content just being close to her person.
