Story
Ivy is a 5-6 year old, 10 lb girl. She came to us with her two puppies who have since been adopted. Now, it's this mama's turn! Though shy at first, as soon as she warms up, she is your shadow. She just needs patience to get to that point. Ivy is great with other dogs and cats. She is crate-trained and doing well with house-training. She enjoys sleeping in bed and snuggling up right next to you. Ivy enjoys following the other dogs around and learning from them. She is not comfortable on a leash with people she doesn't know and does REQUIRE a fenced in yard. Ivy is pretty quiet in her foster home and very low maintenance. Otter is a 2-year-old, 11 lb Xoloitzcuintli mix with a sweet, loving personality. She is happiest when she’s right by your side and truly enjoys being close to her people. Otter is both toy- and food-motivated and loves carrying her toys around, proudly squeaking them as she goes. She enjoys running and playing with other dogs and can happily have dog friends for playtime. However, Otter does not do well sharing resources like toys, so to truly thrive, she needs a home as an only dog. Playdates and supervised romps with other dogs are still a great fit for her! Otter is currently not comfortable walking on leash. We are actively working with her on this, but at this time she requires a securely fenced yard so she can safely exercise and explore. Otter would do best in a home that can provide consistency, patience, and lots of love—along with toys she can call her own. She is working diligently on house-training and crate-training. Meet Melvin – Your Little Shadow with Big Personality 🖤 Melvin is a 3.5 year old, 16 lb Xoloitzcuintli mix with the cutest curious streak and a heart full of love. This charming little guy is equal parts playful, snuggly, and delightfully quirky. Melvin is crate-trained and has been doing great with house-training in his foster home. He’s a smart boy who thrives with routine and guidance -- especially from another confident dog. In fact, Melvin REQUIRES a home with another dog to help show him the ropes and build his confidence. He takes comfort in having a canine buddy and follows their lead beautifully, especially on leash. One of Melvin’s most adorable habits? He pops up onto his back legs to get a better view of what’s going on around him: it’s like having your own tiny meerkat keeping watch. He: - Does well with cats - Loves playing with other dogs - Enjoys toys (though he can be a little possessive with other dogs, so supervision and guidance are helpful) - Walks nicely on leash when paired with a dog friend - Adores heated blankets (warmth is life!) - Happily wears clothes — sweaters, PJs, you name it Melvin would do best in a patient, loving home that understands he’ll continue to blossom with the support of another pup. This deserving girl had a rough start to life, as she was rescued from a hoarding case in Floyd County, GA along with her best friend Bryn (dark). She is learning all about the good life in her foster home and is thriving! Effy is gentle, sweet, and timid. She is eager to explore and play, and loves to sit in your lap. She&#39s a quick learner and has picked up on her house training, crate training, and walks great on a leash. Her foster Mom says she has the best personality - she is silly and fun loving, and will keep you laughing all the time! Effy is good with other dogs, and is likely cat friendly too (would need to be tested). She is a bonded pair with Bryn (dark), and they will need to be adopted together. Effy needs a fenced yard, and would do well in any household. Effy is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. This adorable and loving duo were picked up as strays and spent time at an overcrowded Atlanta shelter before coming to BarkVille Dog Rescue. We are committed to keeping these two best friends together in their forever home. Jay Jay is a Gray Pitbull/Mix who is a mature gentleman, weighing 80lbs. His age is estimated to be around 11yr, however he acts much younger and has lots of life left to live! Jay Jay has a sweet and gentle demeanor, and loves to be near his people. He enjoys going on car rides, sunbathing in his fenced yard, and cuddling by your side. Jay Jay does have some arthritis, however it is easily kept under control with daily medicine. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Gee Gee (also known as Georgie) is a petite and loving Chihuahua/Mix. He&#39s estimated to be around 4yr old, and weighs just 10lbs. Gee Gee loves to play with his best friend Jay Jay, chase squirrels in his fenced yard, or he&#39s happy to be curdled up in your lap! He is working on his potty training, and has a medium energy level. Gee Gee also enjoys the company of the other dogs in his foster home, and is a just a friendly little love bug!
