Story
💕 Meet Winston — 14 Years Young, 6 Pounds, and Apparently Unaware He’s a Senior 💕 Someone may want to check Winston’s birth certificate, because this little Yorkie did NOT get the memo that he’s 14. 😂 At just 6 pounds, Winston is currently working on gaining a little weight and rebuilding some muscle—but don’t confuse “senior” with “slow.” This tiny man has places to go, people to see, yards to explore, and apparently bigger dogs to outrun. Seriously. He’s FAST. 😂 His foster mom says Winston will happily run around with a bigger dog while they play frisbee. When he gets excited, he does happy little circles, and he absolutely loves exploring the yard. So what’s his secret to staying so young? We’re thinking good food, regular exercise, lots of treats, and an absolutely unreasonable amount of cuddling. ❤️ And about those cuddles… Winston doesn’t ask to cuddle. He insists. This is a little dog who wants to be with his person ALL. THE. TIME. If you’re sitting, Winston would like to be with you. If you’re relaxing, Winston would like to be with you. If you’re going to bed… well, Winston’s foster mom reports that yes, he sleeps in her bed too. 😂 He absolutely loves people and is described as a very well-behaved, quiet and easy little guy. Winston is also good with other dogs, and another friendly dog could be especially nice for him in a home where his person works. He has adjusted beautifully to his foster mom’s schedule and understands that when she leaves, she comes back. He may bark briefly when she first goes, but settles quickly. He can be crated and tolerates it, although his foster doesn’t find it necessary to crate him. Winston is mostly potty trained with a routine. He does best when someone actually goes outside with him every 2–3 hours—otherwise, this clever little gentleman may simply stand on the porch waiting for you or decide the porch is close enough. He also tends to #2 immediately after eating, so his schedule is pretty predictable. He appears to have been puppy-pad trained at some point and will use them if necessary. He’s a great eater, enjoys treats, doesn’t overeat, and has no food aggression. Winston is also good in the car and decent on leash—although remember that surprisingly speedy part! At 14, Winston isn’t looking for a place to quietly spend his remaining years. He’s looking for someone to spend them WITH. Someone whose lap is available. Someone whose bed has room for six more pounds. Someone who doesn’t mind having a tiny shadow following them around. Because Winston may be 14… but his heart, his energy, and his determination to be directly involved in everything you’re doing are considerably younger. ❤️ And perhaps most importantly: Cuddles are not optional. Winston has reviewed the contract. 😂❤️ Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $245. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Please have your veterinarian and two non-family reference phone numbers ready. The app makes you start all over if you leave the page to look up numbers. Better yet, help speed up the adoption process by also sending us your vet records, and having your references e-mail us at Deebysrescue@gmail.com For information about this dog's breed(s), visit: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/abc.htm
