Story
Vito is a sweetie! He’s10 years old, loves to lay in sunshine and prefers laps to doggie beds. He’s a good eater, and is definitely a lover not a fighter. He gets along with other pets and he loves people and children. Nothing makes him happier than a long walk followed by a savory treat. We need to rehome him because he needs to be with a family that has the interest and time to give him the walks and attention he thrives on and deserves. My schedule is too demanding and unfortunately he’s not being provided a consistent schedule.

ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Introducing Roxie!  Roxie is a lovable 5-year-old, 10-pound Yorkshire Terrier with a heart full of sweetness. She adores people and has a friendly, affectionate nature. When Roxie first arrived with us, she wasn’t sure about the whole “walks” thing. She’d go potty and then make a beeline right back home. But with time, patience, and lots of love, Roxie has become a little adventurer!   Now, she enjoys her daily walks, taking her time to sniff around and smells of the world at her own pace. Recently, Roxie had bladder stones surgically removed, and she’s been an absolute trooper throughout the recovery process. She’s healing wonderfully, though her bladder is still a bit irritated, so she needs to go outside more frequently than other dogs.  The good news is that Roxie is great at letting you know when she needs to go out and is also pee pad trained for those in-between moments. She’s managing her needs well, just asking for a bit of extra patience as she continues to heal.  Because of this, Roxie will need to be on a special diet for the rest of her life.  This is not costly, bit a special need that will need to be met. Sometimes Roxie loves nothing more than snuggling up with her people and burrowing under blankets to stay warm and cozy. Other times she's happy to be splooting. Because Roxie is bonded to her people, she experiences some separation anxiety. She’s happiest when someone is home most of the time and will do best in a home where she isn’t left alone for long periods. She will make the most awesome companion  She would love to go to brunch of yoga with you! With a consistent routine, reassurance, and love, she’s learning to feel more secure. She gets along great with other dogs and respectful older children. Her ideal family will understand her emotional and physical needs and will cherish her for the sweet soul girl she is.  Roxie is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and ready for her next loving chapter.  Her adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  April 13, 2025, 12:56 pm

Story
Meet Benny! This affectionate, fun-loving pup is looking for a forever home where he can be the center of attention. He’s the perfect mix of lap dog and adventure buddy—athletic, spunky, and always ready for cuddles. Benny craves love and must sleep in bed with his humans. He would do best as the only dog in the home. He gets jealous if he’s not the one getting all the attention because he never had love his entire life and now that he has it, he doesn’t want to share. Although, he is friendly and playful with all other dogs. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will keep you active and entertained, Benny is your guy!

Story
Lots of personality and a great snuggler. Loves our kids, hates our mail woman--but what dog does? She is smart and a good communicator. She was born October 2019 and came to our home for Christmas. She lives happily with our sweet grandma poodle. But our Poodle is ageing fast and our kids are all young adults. No one is home anymore and with our Poodle near the end of her life there's no one to keep her company. We want her in a home that will give her the attention she deserves.
