ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Willamina (“Willa” for short). Willa is a very sweet Yorkie mix ready for her furever family. She is 15lbs and 4.5 years old. Willa is an affectionate and energetic pup. She wants nothing more than to sit in your lap, or next to you on the couch, or lie in her bed and have you rub her belly. She is great with all adults and children.  Willa is crate trained and doesn’t mind sleeping in her crate (ideally in your bedroom). She is working on potty training and knows to do her business outside when taken out. She still needs to learn how to ask to go out. Willa was very hungry in her recent life so she can get a little intense around food. If there is another dog in the house she will eat their food and get protective over her own. For this reason (and because she likes to be the center of attention), she would likely do best in a house where she is the only dog. However, with additional attention, she can live with another dog as she gets along with other dogs for the most part. Willa is happy to calmly sleep for much of the day but can also have bursts of energy. She enjoys chasing a ball outside and loves to take walks. She will need to work on her leash skills as she currently pulls a lot so needs someone who can hold her leash firmly on walks. She is a smart and trainable girl and very much wants to please her human. Willa is good in the car and is ok to be left alone for short periods of time. However, because she craves being close to humans, she would prefer a home where she won’t be left alone too much. Willa will be the sweetest companion for her furever family. She is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on all vaccinations.  Her adoption fee is $300.  All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  April 22, 2025, 9:53 pm

She is estimated to be 3 years old and is 9 lbs.  This sweet girl is a BIG fan of other dogs and loves to play (on her own terms)! When it comes to people, it takes her a little longer to warm up and trust them. But if she has a little space and time to decompress, she will slowly open up to show more of her quirky and loving personality. Matcha is potty trained and likes a casual stroll, just be advised that she goes at her own pace and is still figuring out the leash. She is also very food motivated and can easily be bribed with treats, so training might be slow-moving, but is very likely possible.  She rides quietly in the car and sleeps through the night with other dogs.  Kid energy is a bit too much for Matcha so she will need to be in an adult only home.  Matcha will need to have at least one other dog in the home to help her build her confidence.  If you think you can give this sweet girl the time needed to help her to gain trust, we are sure she will become your best pal. Matcha is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines. Though unsure about walks at first, she’s grown to love them and enjoys sniffing around at her own pace. She absolutely loves going out on the town—whether it's a trip to the park, brunch, yoga, or running errands, Roxie is happiest when she’s by your side. She’s a social little adventurer who enjoys being part of the action. At home, Roxie adores snuggles, burrowing under blankets, and lounging in a comfy “sploot” pose. She forms strong bonds with her people and experiences some separation anxiety, so she’ll thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time. She’s also great with other dogs and respectful older kids. She recently had bladder stones removed and is recovering well, but will temporarily need more frequent potty breaks and a lifelong special diet (which isn’t costly). Roxie is both pee pad trained and good at signaling when she needs to go out. She’s managing her needs well, just asking for a bit of extra patience as she continues to heal. Roxie is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and ready to bring love, joy, and companionship into your life. Her adoption fee is $300. Story
Louie is a Seven-and-a-half-year-old Yourkie. He has always been the heart of the home. With his fluffy coat, bright eyes, and playful energy, he could turn even the dullest day into one filled with laughter. He loves chasing his toy, curling up in a warm lap, and wagging his tail at every friendly face. Life has been good for Louie; it has been full of belly rubs and afternoon walks, but things have started to change. My father, the one who loved him dearly facing difficulty and struggled with Alzheimer. Caring for Louie is becoming extremely difficult for our family. So, with heavy hearts, we are searching for someone who would love Louie just as much as we did. Someone who could take him on long walks, toss his favorite toy, and give him all the cuddles he loved.

Story
Lots of personality and a great snuggler. Loves our kids, hates our mail woman--but what dog does? She is smart and a good communicator. She was born October 2019 and came to our home for Christmas. She lives happily with our sweet grandma poodle. But our Poodle is ageing fast and our kids are all young adults. No one is home anymore and with our Poodle near the end of her life there's no one to keep her company. We want her in a home that will give her the attention she deserves.

These pups are in San Diego, California too!
