Story
Meet Spunky Boy, an eight-year-old, 10 pound male Yorkie with a heart full of courage and a love for tranquility. Despite his initial fear when he arrived at NMDR, Spunky Boy has made remarkable progress, growing in both bravery and confidence. This little guy delights in playing outside, basking in the sunshine, and exploring the world's scents. Though he can be timid with new people, treats are the way to his heart! He gets very excited to see his human friends, wagging his tail and wiggling up to them. He has started seeking out affection from his favorite people, but prefers this to be on his terms until he is more comfortable being handled.Spunky boy has done well meeting a variety of dogs at NMDR, but is not required to go home with another dog. Now seeking a patient family, Spunky Boy yearns for a quiet home without much commotion, where he can continue to blossom and build confidence. He'd thrive best in a household with kids over 16, ensuring a comfortable and safe space for this charming Yorkie. As he is not yet leash trained, Spunky Boy will need a fenced yard to keep him safe. This gentle, sweet senior eagerly awaits adoption at National Mill Dog Rescue. If you are interested in meeting Spunky Boy, please apply at NMDR.org. - - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Meet Puka, a spirited male Yorkie weighing 13 pounds. Known affectionately as "parkour Puka" for his boundless energy, he darts around the play area, bouncing off unsuspecting dogs and humans with gleeful abandon. Puka is an extreme escape artist, displaying remarkable agility in slipping past humans and obstacles. He requires a secure 6-foot fence to keep him safe, as he has a knack for jumping anything shorter. Despite his mischievous antics, Puka is incredibly friendly, cuddly, and craves attention from his humans. However, his high energy level may overwhelm smaller or lower-energy dogs, making him best suited for an active family willing to provide him with daily exercise and playtime. Puka LOVES kids and would enjoy a home with children to play with him. With a grateful heart and boundless enthusiasm for life, Puka eagerly awaits adoption at the National Mill Dog Rescue.----- Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location. Hi! My name is Cannon, and I am a little Yorkiepoo boy who is 7 years old, and I weigh 9 pounds. I am very afraid of this big new world so I must have a quiet, all-adult home and a sibling to help me learn the ropes would be ideal. If you have been waiting for a gorgeous Yorkiepoo boy please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. Love, Cannon 021724-32  April 30, 2024, 7:21 pm
