Story
Meet Jamie! This tiny, 2yr old, 3 legged 6lb sweet female yorkie is looking for a new home. She is very very very active. She's great for haircuts, baths, walks, and playing. She barks when she first meets folks then settles down. She is scared of men but we are working on that. She needs a yard to have zoomies in many times a day. She's an in charge lady with cats and dogs. Jamie does need a patient and special needs friendly home. She is incontinent and therefore needs a routines schedule and someone to help her maintain good hygiene. Our adoption applications are on our website: WWW.ANIMALLUVRS.ORG All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need. Any questions, concerns and suggestions, please feel free to contact us at ALDR@animalluvrs.org. ##1952401##

Story
Meet the cutest and sweetest little senior, Gracie!! Gracie was recently found as a stray (we will never understand that!) and was brought to a local shelter. We saw her plea for help and took her into our rescue. She is currently in one of our wonderful foster homes where she hangs out with her furry foster siblings and gets lots and lots of love! Gracie is nearly blind, but don't tell her that! She doesn't seem to mind at all and is the happiest little girl. Despite her special needs, Gracie loves to play! She loves her little stuffed lambchop and playing and snuggling with her foster parents. Since Gracie doesn't see well, she will do best in a home with a fenced yard, even if it's a smaller yard. She's looking for a family to love and the simple pleasures that retirement brings. This little girl brings so much joy to her foster family and is a great reminder of the amazing resilience we see with these pups when given a chance to thrive with love and security. If you live in the Tampa Bay area and are interested in hearing more about this little sweetheart, please include your phone number when you inquire so we can give you a call.

Story
Lily is a 11 year old 8.5 pound yorkie girl who is being fostered near Dunedin, FL. Updated Bio 3/8/24: Lily continues to be one of the sweetest little dogs you will ever meet. Everyone who meets her simply loves her kind and precious demeanor. She is responding very well to her once a day Vetoryl, which is keeping her cortisol levels stabilized and her Cushings symptoms normalized. Lily is almost 100% pee pad trained and will always do her business outside when she is let out. She needs to go fairly frequently, so outdoors and the pee pads work very well for Lily. She sleeps through the night and loves to snuggle and play when she first wakes up, which always makes her foster mom wake up with a smile. She is very adaptable to a new environment, rides well in the car and is perfectly happy being left at home alone where she will sleep the entire time. Lily will bark when someone comes to the door but, except for when she is hungry and waiting for her dinner, is not a barker. When she is hungry, she lets you know! Updated Bio: 2/20/24 Lily here and I have to share how much fun I am having and how much better I feel! The medication (Vetoryl) that I am on for my Atypical Cushings symptoms is working very well. I just need one 5mg dose per day and the cost runs around $50 per month. Not too bad. I will need to be on this for the rest of my life, but my Foster Mom gives it to me with a yummy pill pocket and I look forward to it! We recently went on a camping trip in an RV and I had so much fun! I travel just fine in the car and I slept really well with all that fresh air. There were lots of other dogs around and nice people who kept telling me how sweet and cute I am. My Foster Mom is also so impressed with how well my little legs do. I have two luxated patellas but can run like the dickens when I want to! She says I have a strong will to enjoy life in spite of my little idiosyncrasies. I am definitely pee pad trained but when let out, I will always go outside. Sometimes I just have to go often, so getting outside may not always work. Well, that's it for now. Still waiting for my Furever Home and, since I am becoming so attached to my Foster Mom, I know I need a home where I can be attached Furever! Updated Bio 2/2/24: Lily is doing just great! After being on her medication for 3 weeks, she had her blood tests to check on her cortisol levels and the Dogter called with great news! With just one dose of Vetoryl (5mg) per day, her levels stabilized which means we don't need to increase the dosage. Her Vetoryl costs about $50 per month and has not only made Lily feel so much better, it has stabilized her previous behavior - insatiable hunger, thirst and urinating. Lily is a whole new dog! She just went on a little road trip and adapted well to each new environment, and although a little shaky at first in the car, she relaxes pretty quickly. Lily walks really well on the leash and her luxated patellas are only a bit tricky for her when she is on a slippery floor. Otherwise, she walks like a champ! Small correction re: the number of teeth she has - she was left with 5 teeth, but can eat and chew with no problem. Lily is pee pad housebroken. While she will always do her business when let outside, if inside and too much time has passed, she will go on the pee pad. One could not ask for a sweeter little girl. She loves to be near her human and will make a wonderful companion dog to that special someone. Lily wants to know if that will be you? Updated Bio: 1/19/23 Lily here again and with nice shiny clean teeth after my recent dental! I was left with 10 teeth, which is just fine as I can still eat and enjoy my treats. The other good news is that the medication I am taking seems to be helping my "Atypical Cushings" symptoms some. Foster Mom reports that I am not as ravenously hungry, I am doing my business more outside of the house rather than on pee pee pads inside the house and I am not as thirsty. We still need some housebreaking work, but my foster mom seems very, very happy when I go outside and then I get a little treat. But wait! More good news.....I was on a diet and needed to lose a couple of pounds and succeeded! I weigh 8.5 lbs now which, according to the Dogter, is an ideal weight for me. I am a good girl. I get along great with other dogs and people too. While I am not a big snuggler or lap dog, I always like to be near my person and will follow her wherever she goes. And then I lay down and sleep. I am 11 years old so I sleep a lot, and I like to sleep in the morning too except the other dog in the house wakes up early and wakes me up. But that's okay, because I get a lot of praise and a treat when I go right outside and do all my business. I do prefer a home with a woman, but men don't particularly bother me. I am a little nervous riding in the car and I love to wander around the back yard and sniff and explore all those wonderful smells! I return for more blood tests soon to see if my Vetoryl dosage is lowering my cortisol levels (whatever that means) and to see if we need to adjust the dosage. The Dogter also removed a mammary tumor, which was benign, but she wanted to be sure that didn't become bad later on. She also took out a couple of warts so, as she said, "I would be nice and pretty for a potential adopter". I thought I already was adorable? Either way, it is feeling more and more like I can be treated for this and make someone a very happy human! Will you be the human that makes me a very happy dog! I do prefer a home with a woman, but men don't particularly bother me. I am a little nervous riding in the car and I love to wander around the back yard and sniff and explore all those wonderful smells! If you think I would be a good fit for you please email my foster mom at dunedinrescuemom@yahoo.com.

Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Adoption fee:  $250.00 Tiffy Marie is a pretty little 8-10 year old Yorkie who weighs about 11 pounds. She loves to eat so comes with a slow feeder bowl to help her maintain a trim figure! She is housetrained and will use pee pads but prefers to go outside. Tiffy can be itchy with allergies and needs to be on a regular diet of premium dry food (such as Life's Abundance or Wellness or Blue Buffalo) with a small amount of mashed fresh vegetables. Most dry foods purchased at the grocery store, with the exception of Blue Buffalo, are not premium foods and are not recommended. She prefers for her person to be home with her and barks a lot if left alone too long. She would do really well with someone who works from home or with a retired person who doesn't go out a lot. Tiffy can get aggressive with other dogs so she must be an only dog! She's very loving with people. Some girls just don't want to share! We don't know how she would be with cats since there are no cats in her foster home. But I would think she would not like the competition for attention. Tiffy Marie is being fostered in Largo, FL.    Adoption fee:  $250.00 Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.   To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.   NOTE: SCMR DOES NOT adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. ADULT MALE ONLY or very patient female home, no kiddos or Seniors PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO !! Hello World! Much has gone on in my life in the past few months. Mostly, the visit from my foster aunt has made me a bit of a ladies man. Don’t get me wrong, I still prefer the company of men, since I am a little toughie. At least that is what my foster mom tells me. However, the softer lap is definitely more comfortable. Plus the ladies seem to give longer belly rubs and I like that too. My leash walks are also much more fun now that I have a pack to roam the neighborhood together. My foster mom says I still might have a set back on occasion, but my behavior is much improved. So if you are in the market for a little project, I just might be the pup for you. We would consider a couple, but with that Female need to be extremely patient. Ideally a single human home. and the rest of the story Any incomplete application will NOT be processed. Hello there, It’s me Cooper ( you may remember me from earlier cuz’ I’m still lookin’ for my forever person) I’m a 3 year old extremely handsome terrier mix boy. I have been told I am a member in good standing of the He-Man Woman Hater Club and am looking for a Daddy that has a lifestyle that allows me to keep my good standing. For some crazy reason, I just don’t get along with the lovely female human type. (I don’t really hate them, just not for me!) I have no clue why, but hey, we all have our own “quirks”, right? As a terrier, I have requirements that must be met by my future Daddy. First, I must be the center of your universe. I love life as long as I get all the attention, so NO CHILDREN and NO OTHER PETS. In return, I will make you the center of my universe, snuggling and cuddling with you. Second, I require my Daddy to be a homebody, either work from home and/or retired as I am afflicted with separation anxiety. Third, I must be exercised on a very regular basis. I know that I really need an active Daddy and I also require a secured fenced in yard in a single family home (sorry, no townhomes, condos, manufactured homes and no rentals.) I know that’s going to eliminate some great Dads, but it’s what’s bestest for me. I might be little, but I require a lot of room to stretch my legs as I like to zoom, zoom, zoom throughout the back yard. It is my job to keep all predators out of the back yard and I am excellent at my job, if I do say so myself. Fourth, Bones and Toys!!!! I enjoy chewing on bones and playing with my toys. Fifth, lottsa love and patience!!! I am a good boy when all my requirements are fulfilled, which is mostly LOVE. I will also require regular grooming, so please keep that in mind. I share my current foster home with “Big Daddy” he sets all the rules here, and guess what? I’m a better boy for it. I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and current on my heartworm and flea prevention! So, anywho, I just want to mention, and not to be mean or disrespectful, but if you don’t meet all my needs, please don’t apply for me. There are some other great pups in our rescue that might fit into your home better. I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and current on my heartworm and flea prevention. Applications that don’t meet my requirements will be not be processed and will be closed. Please visit www.viprescue.org to fill out an adoption application for me (might be the best decision of your life!) I really really hope my new Daddy is out there looking for his best boy, me! This breed typically lives 14-18 years, so keep his lifespan in mind if you are thinking of adopting. Your age should be appropriate for Coopers estimated lifespan. World!
