Story
Mellie is a gorgeous Terrier/Yorkie mix ready for a forever home. She came to us from local animal control after being found as a stray and never reclaimed. It was reported that she had a seizure at animal control on her first day, but has not had any seizures since. Our vets completed bloodwork and an exam, which came back great. They said sometimes dogs may have seizures due to stress, if they had gotten into something toxic, or that a dog may have 1-2 seizures a year without requiring medication. Mellie does not currently require any medication for the past seizure and has been doing well. She loves greeting staff and rolling in the grass. She is looking for a home without other dogs. She can be dog reactive on leash, which can make walks more difficult, so a yard would be beneficial. Mellie can be nervous with new people, so she will require a slow introduction. She is looking for a calm home without children. Mellie LOVES to run around outside and play with toys. She does get mouthy when she gets super playful or over excited.

Story
All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

Story
Meet Turbo & Rascal — a bonded pair who complete each other. Turbo and Rascal are an adorable, inseparable duo looking for a forever home together. Turbo is a 9-month-old Chihuahua, 8 pounds of pure joy. He’s very friendly, playful, and outgoing, and absolutely loves his walks. Turbo brings the fun and confidence wherever he goes. Rascal, a 1-year-old Yorkie mix weighing 6 pounds, is Turbo’s quiet shadow. He’s gentle, reserved, and sweet, happiest when snuggled in a lap or carried in a dog bag while Turbo explores the world. Rascal will walk on leash too—though he tends to walk in little circles, which only adds to his charm. Together, they balance each other perfectly. Both are: • Crate trained • Great in the car • Leash capable • Good with other dogs • Okay with respectful children This pair is sweet, affectionate, and truly bonded, and must stay together. If you’re looking for double the love—with one playful explorer and one cuddle-loving companion—Turbo and Rascal are ready to steal your heart. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog The minimum adoption donation amount for both together is $600. They are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Please have your veterinarian and two non-family reference phone numbers ready. The app makes you start all over if you leave the page to look up numbers. Story
Meet Pip-Squeak, a 3-month-old Yorkie mix weighing just 5 pounds. While she may be tiny, she has a big, confident personality and is not shy about letting you know when she needs something. She is friendly, outgoing, playful, and adaptable, making her a joyful little presence in her foster home. Pip-Squeak loves to run around the house, play with toys, and interact with other dogs, even though they are much larger than her. She plays hard and then naps just as hard. She is a very social girl, getting along well with everyone! She is great with the young kids in her foster home, just expect typical puppy nipping, which can typically be easily redirected with toys. As a puppy, Pip-squeak is still working on potty training and crate training. She is making progress during the day when her caregiver stays mindful of her routine. Crate training is a work in progress, and she currently sleeps crated in another room. She doesn't love being left alone yet and may vocalize at times, so a home without shared walls is best. At the end of the day, Pip-squeak shows her softer side. She is very cuddly before bedtime and loves to snuggle in close, especially tucked inside a sweatshirt to stay warm. With patience, consistency, and a home ready for puppy life, Pip-squeak will continue to grow into a wonderful companion with a lot of love to give. Her minimum adoption fee is $400 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
