Story
Bigsby is a slightly timid, but very loving little boy. I brought him into my home shortly before learning that we were being mandated to return to office. My commute is 1.5 hours each way and my workday runs about 8-9 hours. It makes for very long days and he is being deprived the time and attention he deserves. Looking to get him into a loving home. He is a little guy and will not get bigger than 6lbs.

Story
Jack & Wrigley (Bonded Pair) 14 years old, Yorkie mix, Males, 11 & 9 lbs.   Meet these handsome senior brothers who lost their mom late last year.  They have been recovering and getting healthy with the help of Heartland and are now ready to start their next chapter.  They are both generally laid back little men.  Jack is a bit more interested in human interaction than Wrigley, but both are sweet souls.  They both enjoy walks very much and get very excited for food of any kind.  They are crate trained, but get antsy after too long, so shorter bouts would be preferred by them.  Due to their age they frequently urinate and will do best in a home with a secure fence where they can be let out conveniently and very frequently.  They've done their time and aren't here to impress anyone so if you expect them to hold a potty until you're ready, you'll be mistaken :)  But for the trouble they cause in potty mishaps they make up for with soulful eyes only a senior can bring have loved and lost, but courageous enough to open their hearts once more to a kind-hearted person, is that you?   If you are viewing this pet's profile on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet,.please use the application link at the bottom of the profile to apply. Story
ADOPT SHELDON 3.5 year old Dachshund /Yorkie mix Best as an only dog Teenagers/adults only Sheldon, Sheldon, Sheldon what can I say about this little guy? To know him is to love him. Unfortunately, we don't have much information about his past. He is an owner surrender. He was not up to date on his vaccinations or heartworm prevention. He was not neutered and he had a horrible flea infestation that had not been treated leaving him with large bald spots on his back. To say he must have been miserable is probably an understatement. That has all been taken care of. You can no longer see the bald spots and he's feeling so much better. Sheldon is a three and a half year old, 12 pound doxie yorkie mix with a big attitude. He's going to need someone very special that will love him for his good qualities and deal with his less desirable traits. Sheldon is currently living with two retired adults and another dog in a small house. He enjoys sitting in your lap while you gently rub his ears. It's adorable how he gets excited at meal time and you hear his little feet run ahead to where he eats. If the weather is nice, he enjoys sniffing around the yard. Once he discovered the squirrels he made it his mission to try to catch one. He loves playing with his foster brother despite the significant size difference. On the down side, he doesn't want to share his foster mom. He will growl and even snap at his foster brother if he comes near during cuddle time. His foster dad doesn't fair any better and can't even move about the house without being barked at when mom's around. He does not do well with excitement either. It's another cause for barking. He doesn't want to be bothered if he's laying in his bed, especially if he's got a toy or bone in there. He will growl and if you ignore the warning you probably will get nipped. I would not trust him around kids under the age of maybe fourteen. All that being said, he still deserves a home of his own. In a different situation he could really be a great companion. Being an only dog would eliminate a lot of the problems and barking. His barking wouldn't resonate as much in a larger home. He can always be put in another room when you have company, at least till he calms down. If you think you might be interested in adopting Sheldon, please take the time to fill out an application. Then we can have a real conversation. He's got a lot of years left and we want them to be happy. Sheldon’s adoption fee is $450. Sheldon is neutered, vaccinated with rabies, distemper/parvo, bordetella, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative & on heartworm & flea/tick prevention. He is fostered in the south suburbs of Chicago. Interested? Please visit www.heathersfosterdogs.org & click on Adoption Application to submit your application online. We are located in the south suburbs of Chicago & serve that general area, NW Indiana, & southern Wisconsin. We do not ship dogs.
