Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › This sweet pup, along with 13 others, was rescued from a backyard breeder and brought to Pawfect Match after enduring truly heartbreaking conditions. They had been living outdoors on dirt floors, exposed to the elements, and forced to fend for themselves. Tilly is heartworm positive Despite their difficult past, they are friendly with other dogs, having been surrounded by many. They’re also affectionate with people, though they’ve never known the comfort of a real home. These dogs will need patient, understanding adopters who can gently teach them what it means to be part of a family. They are still learning the basics—potty training, walking on a leash, and building confidence through socialization. With love and guidance, they have the potential to thrive and become wonderful companions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 6, 2025, 1:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  Please submit an application now! The link to our application is at    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.        Hannah is a 10 year old Yorkshire/ Chi mix.   Hannah is lovable, sweet, and looking for a family that will continue to help her blossom into the confident, happy pup she was always meant to be.  She is friendly but is not a lap dog or a dog that begs to be cuddled.  Hannah loves her "den"—she’ll often sleep in her crate with the door open, content and cozy. She’s also housebroken and enjoys spending time outdoors in the yard, we take her out five times a day to stretch her legs and explore her world.   At first, she was fearful of the leash and would lie down while on it. She is making slow progress on a leash but a fenced-in yard would be ideal for Hannah. She loves to be outside lounging in the grass or on the deck. Hannah would do well in a home with a calm dog to help boost her confidence. She’s a little vocal when it comes to sharing space with our dogs, but it’s all part of her process of feeling comfortable and secure. She’s also shown that she can be independent and could do fine with an adopter who works away from the home during the day, especially if there’s another dog to keep her company.  She has had positive interactions with other dogs but has not been around children or cats. She’s generally a quiet dog, but can be vocal at times when she’s feeling talkative. Because she’s still a bit shy, a calm, understanding home would be the perfect environment for her to continue to grow. Hannah is looking for a family who will embrace her gentle nature and help her come out of her shell.  If you're ready to offer a loving home to a dog who truly deserves it, Hannah might be the dog for you.  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Hannah was surrendered by her owner due to illness.  She lived her whole life with one family and is now looking for a new forever home. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.  For the right perfect home for Hannah, we may  consider applicants who live a litter further.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING HANNAH?  If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 7, 2025, 9:48 pm

Story
Meet Peter — a 10-year-old, 10 lb Yorkshire Terrier with the most charming “toothless” smile you’ll ever see! Quick Facts: Name: Peter Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Age: 10 years old Weight: 10 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested but we guess he’d be fine with them! Good with Kids: Hasn’t met them yet, but loves everyone! Energy Level: Medium to high Fence Required: Yes, preferred Special Care Note: This little guy has minor anatomical difference known as slightly permanent paraphimosis, where his prepuce doesn't fully cover his penis. When we rescued him, it was much more protruded, but with consistent care it has improved significantly over the past month. Our veterinarians have thoroughly evaluated him and confirmed this is not a surgical issue and does not affect his comfort or quality of life. Ongoing care is simple and involves applying a small amount of lubricant twice daily. He's happy, playful, and completely unaware that he's any different - just a sweet Yorkie who needs a bit of extra care! About Peter’s Breed: Our best guess is that Peter is a Yorkie mix. The Yorkshire Terrier, or “Yorkie,” is a tiny toy breed with a big personality, known for being affectionate, lively, and confident. Despite their small size, they carry themselves with boldness and charm, often described as having a “big dog attitude in a little body.” Yorkies are famous for their long, silky coats, which require regular grooming, and they thrive on companionship, making them devoted lap dogs as well as spirited playmates. Peter recently had dental work and is now healthy, happy, and ready to shine in his forever home! He’s potty trained, crate trained, and trustworthy outside of his crate, making him an easy companion. Despite his age, Peter has plenty of energy—he loves to run, play, and explore the yard with his foster doggie siblings. He’s also great on a leash and enjoys daily walks, plus he rides well in the car, making him the perfect little travel buddy! Peter’s PAWsitively Adorable Highlights: • Potty & crate trained, quick learner of house rules • Dog-friendly, loves playing with his foster siblings • Affectionate “Velcro” pup, happiest in a lap or by your side • Energetic for his age, enjoys walks and yard play • Soft food diet, since he has only a few teeth left • Car rider pro, loves adventures with his people • Would thrive with a fenced yard or regular leash walks • Ideal home: someone who can spend lots of time with him, as he loves constant companionship Peter is a sweet, affectionate little boy who wants nothing more than to be your loyal sidekick. With his happy spirit, cuddly nature, and adorable smile, he’s ready to bring endless love and joy to his forever family! Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We assist with coordinating transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!December 16, 2025, 1:55 pm

Story
This pet was brought in as a stray and will NOT be available for adoption through our program. All stray animals brought in are posted on the gallery to hopefully be reunited with their families. Each pet is evaluated upon arrival, and throughout their stay, at the Animal Center and we do our best to place the animal in the setting most appropriate for them. Sometimes, they may be better served through one of our Transfer Partners due to the intervention needed, ongoing care required or a quieter setting for that individual. We want our animals to put their best paw forward. If you are a 501c3 rescue and are interested in partnering with WCAC to help this pet, and others, you can find more information on how to help at: https://www.wakegov.com/departments-government/animal-services/community-partners/transfer-program If this is your pet, please contact us immediately at AnimalCenter@wake.gov Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 4.13 Age: 17yrs 0mths 0wks
