Story
PERSONALITY & BEHAVIORS My foster parents call me Herbie, and think I might be the offspring of a Yorkie/Dachshund/Terrier mix. I'm very joyful and have a happy-go-lucky personality. And do you know what my favorite thing is to do? Giving hugs and kisses! There's nothing better than wrapping my paws around you and nuzzling into your neck. I could stay there all day! The family cat is my buddy. I give him gentle kisses as well and make sure to respect his space when he needs it. We have a special bond, and I'm always up for a little playtime together. I'm also super gentle and patient with my infant brother. His giggles and coos fill my heart with joy. I would love to find a home with cats and/or tiny humans. My cat friend lets me play with his toys! The small chirping ones are just fascinating to me. And tennis balls are another favorite--there's something about the way they bounce and roll that gets me all fired up. I love my own toys, too. I have a special big fluffy pink one that is fun to shake (see my video!) and cuddle up to sleep with. Learning fetch is a new adventure for me, but I'm trying my best. Sitting on command is also on my list of skills to master, and I'm making progress. My family is so proud whenever I get it right! When it's time to rest, I'm an absolute pro in my crate. But if I had my way, I'd snuggle up with my family all night long. There's nothing quite like feeling their warmth and hearing their heartbeat. To me, doggie treats are just so-so . . . but cheese? Now that's a real treat! The creamy, delicious goodness is just irresistible. I'll do just about anything for a taste of it. Potty training is a work in progress, but with encouragement, I'm getting the hang of it and almost have it licked. Every successful trip outside is a little victory for me! With each passing day, I'm becoming the best furry companion I can be, all thanks to the love and guidance I'm getting. PHYSICAL I have wiry fur and am mostly black with brown on my face and little legs. I'm told I have just the cutest face with my sweet, innocent puppyish eyes and big black nose. HEALTH I am up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. HISTORY I got lost and was found as a stray, and was taken to a local shelter. Luckily, someone at IAR said I could come into the program and found me my foster parents.

Story
Hi everyone, my name is Pipa. I may be tiny (about 7 lbs) but I’m a huge lovebug! I love to cuddle and give lots of kisses. Exploring is my favorite pastime when outside. Due to my size I need to have a secure fence that I can’t squeeze through. I’m potty trained and ok with going out in wet grass. Going though a door is a little scary for me so my foster mom is helping me overcome my fear. I have long soft fur that needs to be brushed occasionally to prevent matting but I enjoy it. Walking is fun for me and I do very well on a leash. At night I sleep in my crate, however, every chance I get I sneak into my foster sister’s big bed! I get along with adults, children and other pets. I may make my presence know when meeting strangers but warm up quickly. I am about 3 years old. Story
Teddy Bear is a 5 year old, 5lb Yorkie A timid Yorkie who is scared of the outside Teddy Bear  needs socialization. No kids, too scary. His foster writes, “If you hold Teddy close to you he will calm down. He was never socialized with people before and will need someone to be patient with him and show him lots of love so he gains confidence and trust.” Teddy is submissive and derives comfort from another dog in the house. He loves cuddling with a dog buddy. Respectful of cats, very sweet, never barks, he is curious and loves to be around people even though he’s still a little wary of them. He does well with grooming and baths but will need housetraining. With time in a calm home he will blossom. This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog’s description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. We do not respond to questions about our dogs sent through email or social media. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed and age assessments are based on visual appearances.September 21, 2023, 9:31 am

Story
Cupcake is a 3 year old Yorkie weighing 6 pounds. She is bonded with Sky. This friendly little Yorkie will follow you around the house and cuddle in bed with you. If you scoop her up too fast, though, she is liable to have a nervous pee. Cupcake is calm and playful and confident and very bonded with Sky who is more timid. We would like to adopt them as a pair since they watch out for each other and derive comfort from being close. Cupcake does not like the crate and will use pee pads or go outside; like her brother she needs leash training. Her favorite things are being with her family and with Sky. Her foster writes. "Cupcake is a really happy and silly pup." She can be an escape artist so we recommend a secure fence and an adult home where gates and outside doors will not be left open. This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog’s description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
