If dogs had a star on the Walk of Fame, I'd be right there for sure! I am so grateful to be with this rescue, as they are helping me become a rising star in the ranks of Yorkies! You see, I once belonged to a breeder, but the man in the home did not like me, and did not treat me well, so the breeder listed me on Craigslist for free! Just giving me to anyone is scary, but a Good Samaritan rescued me from the situation and took care of me for a short time. Then as time went by, they realized they didn't have the time I needed, so here I am! The rescue took me to the Vet and I had a complete workup with blood, urinalysis, heart worm test (negative), rabies, and my vaccines. Unfortunately, due to neglect on the breeder's part, my teeth are few--I only have 3 left in my mouth, and they aren't that great! I eat wet food, and my tongue sticks out just a little bit. My neuter/chip is scheduled for Nov 6th, and I can be pre adopted, but I cannot leave until I have that done. I did really good for my bath/groom, am good with other dogs and squeaky toys, but cats I have not been around and children, I cannot say. I will be 6 years old on December 23rd, and I am a great weight at 8 pounds. Mom is helping me learn my house and crate manners, as I do not want to constantly wear a wrap. Meet Reginald “Reggie”   Meet Reginald—Reggie for short! This handsome 12-year-old Yorkie mix is a little senior gentleman who has been through more than his fair share, but he hasn’t let that stop him from loving life.   Reggie was found as a stray and came into foster care needing some extra TLC. He suffers from a severe skin allergy that caused him to lose most of the hair on his back. Our vet believes the hair will likely never grow back, but Reggie doesn’t seem to mind one bit. He proudly rocks his unique look—and honestly, we think it makes him even more special.    Despite his age, Reggie is still surprisingly active and enjoys being part of the action. He does have severe arthritis in both his back legs and shoulders, so he needs a home that understands his limitations and is willing to accommodate them. Stairs are a big no-no because when his arthritis flares up, we worry he could fall. Luckily, Reggie has decided this simply means he gets to be carried around like the little prince he is.    And what Reggie really wants most? His people. He absolutely loves being with his humans and soaking up every ounce of love and attention he can get. If you’re looking for a sweet little shadow who will happily keep you company and remind you that senior dogs have so much love left to give, Reggie may be your guy.   Reggie does well with other small dogs around his size, preferably 12 lbs or smaller. Larger dogs make him very nervous and intimidated, so he would do best with smaller canine companions or as your one-and-only little prince. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. Meet Larry, who comes to us from a local shelter. Larry is a 4-year-old, 5.2 lb., Yorkie / Terrier mix. Larry is fun and loving and is good with all people and dogs. We are not sure how he is with cats. He is the best lap dog. Larry is neutered, has started his vaccines, and is microchipped. He did test positive for heartworm, and has received his Proheart shot and Doxycyclin procedure, which he should test negative within 6-12 months at the latest. Tess is a precious 10 - 12 year old pups that lived a rough life of being backyard breeding dog until we took her in and boy are we glad that we did. She is super sweet and just wants to be loved. She does have kidney disease which we are managing with food and supplements and it has improved since she arrived. She does well with other dogs and cats. Minnie's Story Meet Minnie. Minnie is a 9 year old tiny Yorkie that can in to rescue at the end of August. Minnie started life as a backyard breeding dog, then was sent to a shelter and adopted. She had been with her adoptive family for a few years before they had a baby. As the baby turned into a toddler, he was very active and Minnie became very anxious and spent most of her time in her playpen. Her family realized this was not the best enironment for Minnie so they asked us for help. It was determined that Minnie had an enlarged left side of her heart and would need to be placed on medication. Minnie is currently thriving in her new foster home. She loves car rides, playing with other dogs, snuggling in the bed, and going on adventures. She is a small girl at 6 lb. and will need to remain on heart medication. No children.Chance is a healthy 10-year-old rescued Yorkie mix in excellent health with regular professional teeth cleanings. My family is relocating overseas, and I must make the hard decision to rehome him.He is sweet, loyal, and doing well around people in our hotel. He completed a 6-week board-and-train, follows commands well, and loves his toys, bananas, and snuggly blankets.While he is a great daytime companion, he gets highly defensive at night when tired and will snip if handled. He started anxiety medication three weeks ago. His car anxiety has already stopped; he travels well and behaves beautifully on restaurant patios.Chance is much better with females; looking for a single, calm, possibly retired person who understands small-dog boundaries and gives him space when he rests. He thrives in structured environments and hasn't had any potty mistakes on Prozac.
