Story
They say good things come in small packages and Matilda is certainly one of them. She is a 12 year old, 4 lb. Yorkie who came into our rescue as a stray. She is cuddly, smart and feisty. She is happiest sitting in your lap all day and will become your shadow. Currently there are 3 small dogs in Matilda’s foster home. She is not shy about joining in if they bark or if she has something to say. Matilda is a force to be reckoned with. She may be small, but she is mighty. She knows exactly what she wants and is very determined. Matilda has a good appetite and  will guard her food if another dog approaches. She is fed twice daily - Royal Canin Adult canned food, Stella & Chewy Super Beef and Performatrin Ultra. We sometimes chop up chicken and add it to her canned food. She enjoys Benny Bully treats. As tiny as she is, Matilda can climb small dog stairs to the couch as well as run up a stairs with no problem. At night she sleeps in bed with her foster mom. There is a ramp which she sometimes uses, but often prefers to jump off the bed on her own. Matilda is fine in the car for travelling  Matilda has been spayed and is up-to-date with all her vaccines. She does a little reverse sneezing. She appears to be housetrained however, sometimes she uses puppy pads but there are a few accidents so we use diapers. Matilda could easily live in a condo or house. She does like the backyard. She would do best in a home with someone retired or who works from home. We would prefer no applicants with small children.    April 13, 2025, 8:52 am

Story
Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday? Not if we can help it. Let’s say Hello, Goodbye to Ruby’s past and Come Together to find her forever home. Ruby is a tiny 9-year-old, 10-pound Yorkie-terrier(?) mix. Ruby has charmed us all with her look of permanent surprise and the most charming little underbite this side of “Abbey Road.” Ruby has sadly had a “Long and Winding Road”—her early life was marked by fear and abuse, and she recently lost the one person who truly loved and protected her because she passed away. Now Ruby’s quietly waiting for a second chance and “With a Little Luck,” she will find her forever home. After such a “Hard Day’s Night” of a life, we’re working extra hard is to make sure making sure Ruby’s next home is her last. After all she’s been through, Ruby is understandably, shy, cautious and skittish. She's shy, yes—but also incredibly loving, sweet and soulful in a way that can only be described as “Something” special. Despite her small size, Ruby may not want to be picked up, but if you sit beside her on the floor and offer a gentle belly rub, she'll be saying “I Want to Hold Your Hand” in her own quiet way. Ruby’s got her “Ticket to Ride” when it comes to housetraining—she’s completely reliable and even handles stairs like a pro. She loves the simple joys: sitting by your side, sunshine, and a cozy bed. Whether she’s relaxing in “Strawberry Fields” (or, you know, a fenced-in yard) or heading out on a short walk on a “Long and Winding Road,”Ruby would be thrilled to share the journey with someone who enjoys life’s peaceful moments. Ruby’s sweetness extends to other dogs but doesn’t really play — she's more “Let It Be” than “Twist and Shout.” We’re not sure how Ruby would do “Across the Universe” of cats, but with her gentle nature, we think she’ll be fine. What Ruby really needs is someone patient who won’t try to change her—someone who understands that love isn’t always loud or flashy. If you’ve got a patient heart, Ruby is your girl. All she needs is love! ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca. Just Paws is located in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We do not adopt out of province or country. Please note that although many of our dogs get along with children, we are not able to adopt to any household with kids under the age of 8 years old. This is a stipulation of our insurance and is not a reflection on suitability of the potential adopter.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ZICO was surrendered to the rescue through no fault of his own and searching for his forever family. He’s neutered, vaccinated including his rabies shot, microchipped and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. Don’t let his small size fool you as he loves to be active and be out and about on walks in the neighbourhood and hikes on the trails. Although he’s an energetic little guy he also likes to snuggle up and be a lap pup but this will only happen if he’s been tired out from his long walks or he’s had a very active day.  ZICO is crate trained and sleeps soundly in it at night. He’s also housetrained and will run to the door when he needs to go outside for bathroom. He does really well on the long walks around the lake front and he can do an hour walk no problem. He hasn’t been socialized with other animals at all and will bark and carry on when he sees a big dog on his walk but seems to be fine meeting with smaller ones. He doesn’t appear to like cats at all and will just bark at them so we are recommending he not be in a home with cats at all. He was just at the groomers and he did really well getting his face and chest trimmed up but when it came to the rest of his body he didn’t seem to enjoy it as much so he ended up having a muzzle on so his groom could be finished off. We are definitely recommending that he be muzzled for his future grooming needs.  ZICO’s ideal home is one that is active but quiet. He needs his long walks and hikes to burn off his Yorkie energy. He wants to be part of a family that will take him everywhere with them including family adventures. He’s just a young guy and he knows there’s lots he wants to do and see still. He has lots of typical Yorkie behaviour so his new owner does need to be breed experienced. He’s a destructor of toys and only the toughest, hardiest ones survive his company such as Kong toys and very sturdy plastic ones including Nyla bones. Due to him not being in a home with children or ever having met any we are recommending they be 12 years of age and up. He’s also needs a home with a fenced yard so he can run around and play safely outside.  If ZICO sounds like he’ll fit in with your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 5, 2025, 9:53 pm

Story
I’m a 7-year-old male, and I weigh just 3kg — small enough to fit perfectly in your arms or lap. I was rescued in the nick of time from a kill shelter, and now I’m hoping for a forever home where I’ll never have to feel fear or loneliness again. Right now, I’m receiving treatment for an ear infection. One of my ears is naturally closed, so my hearing isn’t perfect, but don’t worry — it doesn’t stop me from enjoying life. I also had a vocal cord surgery before arriving at the shelter, so I rarely bark — I’m more of a gentle presence than a noisy one. I’m independent and can coexist peacefully with other dogs, but deep down, I’d love a home where I can be the center of your world. I’m especially loving toward people, and I don’t hesitate to approach strangers with a wagging tail and a soft heart. I get along great with both women and men — no fear here! When it’s time for walks, I may pull a little on the leash, but I respond well to gentle guidance. I’m calm even in noisy cities, around flapping banners, passing cars, or bustling sidewalks. I don’t react to cats or birds, and I’m easy to gear up with a harness and leash. I’m not very interested in toys, but I do love food! Even so, I’m polite and gentle — I don’t guard my treats or snap if you take something away. I just want to share peace and kindness. I can handle low stairs by myself, but for taller ones, I’d love a helping hand (or an arm to carry me!). I stay calm even in busy or cluttered environments — nothing seems to rattle me much. All I need is someone who will come close, slowly and gently, with love and patience. I’ve been through a lot, but I’ve never stopped believing in people. I’m ready to give all of my quiet, loyal love to someone who sees the beauty in a little dog like me. With hope and a wagging tail, Winny 🐶💛
