Story
🏠 Currently in a Toronto foster home Hi, I'm Don-i. 🤍 I may only weigh 3.5 kg, but my heart is full of love just waiting for my forever family. When you hold me, you'll notice how tiny I am. I fit perfectly in your arms, and honestly… that's one of my favorite places to be. I love being close to my people, and every gentle touch makes me feel safe. Before I was rescued, I lived in a breeding facility. I never had the chance to experience what it means to be a cherished family member. Everything is still new to me, but one thing comes naturally—I love people. When you give me attention, I'll shyly wag my tail and quietly ask for more cuddles. I'm a gentle, calm little boy who gets along well with other dogs. If you already have a furry friend, I'd be happy to be their companion. But I'd also love being your one and only, soaking up all the love you've been saving for me. I'm still learning about life in a home, so I'll need some patience with potty training and leash walking. Since I've never had the chance to learn these things before, I hope you'll teach me one step at a time. I promise I'll do my best because I trust people and truly want to make you proud. I've spent my whole life being small and vulnerable, but I dream of a future where I never have to worry again—a home where I'm loved, protected, and treated like family. If you're looking for a loyal little shadow with a gentle heart, I think we've been waiting for each other. Will you be my forever family? 🤍

*Note: Currently, Tongky, is in Korea but will be arriving in Toronto once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, pleae click here.BackgroundTongky was one of eight small dogs abandoned together in a rural area of Paju. Most of the dogs were Maltese and Spitz and were believed to have come from a breeding facility. After being abandoned, they were taken to a local high kill shelter. With no adopters coming forward, Tongky was placed on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, he was rescued before that could happen. After his rescue, Tongky joined his first foster family, where he lived in an apartment with a young elementary school aged child for four months. He then moved to another foster home with a quiet young couple, where he has continued to thrive in a home environment.Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, his current foster family can only care for him until the end of June. We are hoping to find Tongky the loving forever home he deserves so he can finally settle into a family of his own and never have to experience another transition again.Personality and SocializationTongky can be a little shy when meeting new people, especially men. However, once he feels safe and comfortable, his sweet and affectionate personality quickly emerges. He forms strong bonds with his people and loves attention and companionship. He is currently very comfortable with his male foster parent and enjoys spending time with him.Tongky gets along very well with other dogs and has shown good social skills in foster care. He like dogs who are friendly and respecful and are not too dominant. He has also lived successfully with a young child and would be suitable for a home with respectful children.BehavioursTongky loves going for walks and is easy to handle on leash. He enjoys exploring the world around him and looks forward to his daily outings. He is cooperative during grooming and bath time and handles routine care very well. Tongky rides reasonably well in the car. He may whine a little if sitting alone in a car seat, but settles with reassurance and enjoys being close to his people. He does not show signs of separation anxiety and has not displayed any aggressive behaviours. Tongky uses pee pads when needed and prefers to do his bowel movements outside during walks. He has a wonderful balance of energy. He enjoys running around and playing when it is time for fun, but he is equally happy to relax quietly beside his family when the day winds down.Health and DietTongky is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has been routinely dewormed. He receives monthly parasite prevention. When he was rescued, Tongky tested positive for heartworm. He successfully completed treatment and has been declared heartworm free. He has also received a full veterinary examination. He is healthy and ready for his forever home.Tongky eats regular kibble with a healthy appetite and has not shown any known food or environmental allergies.Ideal HomeTongky has experienced abandonment and uncertainty in his past, but he has never stopped believing in people. Beneath his slightly shy first impression is a loving, loyal companion who simply wants to be close to those he trusts. His ideal family is one that understand his gentle nature, and offer him the stability he has always deserved. In return, Tongky will reward them with affection, companionship, and unwavering loyalty. After everything he has been through, Tongky is ready to leave his past behind and begin a new chapter with a family who will love him forever.*Note: Currently, Tongky, is in Korea but will be arriving in Toronto once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, pleae click here.

Meet Bubble – A Sweet, Gentle Companion Looking for Her Forever Home   Bubble is a 3-year-old spayed Shih Tzu/Maltese mix who was rescued from a heartbreaking 230-dog hoarding situation. Despite her difficult past, she has an incredibly gentle, affectionate personality and is ready to experience the love and security of a forever family.   About Bubble   Age: 3 years Breed: Shih Tzu / Maltese Mix Sex: Spayed Female Weight: 5.3 kg (11.7 lbs) Height: 35 cm (shoulder height)   Loves People   Bubble is a very affectionate little girl who enjoys meeting both familiar people and strangers. She happily approaches people for pets and attention, including men. She can easily be picked up, and once she feels comfortable, she’ll even roll over for belly rubs.   Dog Social   Bubble is polite and friendly when meeting new dogs, although she prefers forming close friendships with just one or two companions rather than playing with every dog she meets.   She generally gets along well with larger dogs. During initial introductions, she may occasionally try to boss around smaller or more timid dogs, but she quickly backs down when corrected by a confident dog. Slow, supervised introductions help set everyone up for success.   Cats   Bubble has not been tested with cats.   Energy Level   Bubble has a low energy level and enjoys a calm lifestyle. She loves relaxing, taking naps, and simply being close to her people.   Walks   She walks beautifully on leash without pulling and naturally stays close to her handler.   Home Life   Bubble is house-trained for both indoor pee pads and outdoor potty.   She does not guard food from people or other dogs and is generally a very quiet dog who rarely barks.   Like many dogs rescued from hoarding situations, Bubble can become anxious when left alone and may vocalize at first. The good news is that she has already been making wonderful progress as she settles into a routine and gains confidence.   Bubble also finds comfort in having a calm canine companion. While another friendly dog in the home is not required, it may help her feel more secure during the transition into her new life.   She also isn’t a fan of being crated, so a family willing to give her time and patience while she adjusts would be the best fit.   Bubble’s Ideal Home   Bubble would thrive with a family that appreciates a calm, affectionate companion and understands that rescued dogs sometimes need a little time to fully settle into a new environment.   With patience, consistency, and lots of love, Bubble will reward her family with endless affection and loyal companionship. She has already come so far, and now she’s simply waiting for someone to show her what it truly means to be home.   If you think Bubble could be the perfect addition to your family, we’d love to hear from you!   Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  PLEASE ALSO VISIT OUR FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM! Story
Meet Haneul   1 year old | Spayed Female | Bichon Frise | 3.9 kg   Sometimes all a dog needs is one person who won’t give up.   Haneul was purchased from a pet shop as a two-month-old puppy by an elderly owner in his 70s. As she grew into an energetic puppy, caring for her became too difficult. She was then passed from one acquaintance to another, changing homes about four times before finally being surrendered to a private shelter. The shelter later reached out to us for help finding her forever home.   Despite all the instability in her young life, Haneul has remained a sweet, affectionate little girl who is still searching for the family she can truly call her own.   Personality with People   Haneul is an affectionate cuddle bug who loves being close to her people. At home, she’ll happily ask to be picked up and can spend hours curled up comfortably on your lap.   Outdoors, however, she can be a little more reserved. In unfamiliar environments, she may hesitate around strangers at first, but once she feels comfortable, her affectionate personality quickly shines through.   She is friendly with men. She has done well meeting children. She enjoys belly rubs from people she trusts. She can be comfortably picked up and loves being held.   With Other Dogs   Haneul is a typical young Bichon with a playful spirit.   She tends to avoid dogs that are much larger than she is, but happily plays with dogs of similar size, smaller dogs, and even large puppies.   Once she gets excited, it’s zoomie time! She becomes so focused on having fun that she barely notices what’s happening around her—even if other dogs are barking. At just one year old, she’s still delightfully carefree and hasn’t quite learned all the social rules yet, which only adds to her charm.   With Cats   Haneul has not been tested with cats, but a cat assessment can be arranged upon request.   Energy Level   Like many young Bichons, Haneul enjoys several energetic zoomie sessions throughout the day.   Once she’s burned off her energy, she’s happy to play with toys, spend time with other dogs, or simply cuddle with her people. Overall, she has a moderate energy level with playful bursts of puppy excitement.   Walking   Haneul loves exploring the world through her nose and enjoys taking time to sniff during walks.   She walks nicely on leash without pulling and naturally stays close to her handler.   Additional Information   She does not guard food from people or other dogs.   While no separation anxiety has been observed, Haneul does not enjoy being alone and would do best with a family where someone is home most of the day or where she has regular companionship.   She may bark when first settling into a crate, but usually relaxes once she feels secure. She may also bark to let you know she wants something.   She is potty trained to use both indoor pee pads and outdoor potty, although she clearly prefers going outside.     Toronto Applicants Only   Haneul is expected to arrive in Toronto in mid-August with a flight volunteer.   At this time, we are only accepting applications from adopters who are able to pick her up at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).   If you’re looking for a cheerful little companion who loves to cuddle just as much as she loves to zoom around and play, Haneul may be the perfect addition to your family.
