He's a well mannered little boy with a soft, affectionate streak, and he asks for very little beyond a warm lap and a treat.Quick Facts: Breed: Maltese · Sex: Male · Born: July 2018 (8 years old) · Weight: 2.3 kg · Location: Korea · Traits: Gentle, calm, affectionate · Health: Neutered, vaccinatedBackground: Dooboo was rescued in December 2025 from a puppy mill in Gimpo, Korea. His name means tofu in Korean, which suits him well. He spent five months in a foster home and is now back at our partner boarding house, sharing his days with other dogs.Personality: Dooboo is a quiet, dignified boy who shows his affection in small ways. His favorite is the paw tap, given while lying down beside someone he likes. When a person comes to his kennel in the morning, he waits calmly rather than jumping or fussing. Treats are the way to his heart. Nothing in particular frightens him, and his energy level is low. New people, places, and objects don't get much of a reaction from him, but if something makes him curious, he'll wander over to look. Left on his own, he spends his time sleeping and resting.Compatibility: Dooboo doesn't react much to strangers. When someone catches his interest, he'll walk over and quietly check them out. He treats men and women the same. Young children are a bit too busy for his taste, though he doesn't mind them as long as they leave him in peace. With a person he loves, he'll curl up in their lap and fall asleep, but most of the time he's happy in his own spot. He has no sensitive areas when handled.Dooboo hasn't lived with cats before, so we can't say for certain how he'd do. Knowing his easygoing nature, though, we think it's possible with a slow, gradual introduction, plenty of patience, and enough space for each of them to have their own retreat while they get used to one another.Dooboo gets along well with small dogs. He doesn't pay much attention to other dogs, but he likes a calm friend who will rest quietly beside him. He shows no guarding over food or toys. The one thing he'd rather not share is a lap, and he'll let another dog know when he's already settled there.Behaviours & Training: Dooboo is trained to an indoor puppy pad and rests quietly in his crate. He hasn't had much experience walking on a leash or harness, so that's something his new family can teach him slowly. He stays calm in the car and behaves well at the vet. Bath time, nail trims, and brushing all go smoothly, though he tends to turn his face away during grooming. He has no chewing habits and knows his name. He'll bark briefly when a guest arrives and again at mealtime, but he's quiet the rest of the day. He shows no signs of separation anxiety and settles down to rest when left alone. He isn't pushy about food at all.Health & Diet: Dooboo is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and up to date on all his vaccinations. He takes a monthly parasite preventative. In April, 2026 he had surgery to correct luxating kneecaps in both back legs. He has recovered fully and moves around comfortably. Years at the puppy mill took a toll on his teeth, and he has none left. It doesn't slow him down at mealtime, and he happily finishes soaked kibble mixed with wet food. He has passed his veterinary screening and is healthy and ready for a forever home.Ideal Home: A quiet household suits Dooboo best. He would do well as an only dog, and he'd be just as happy with a senior dog or one or two gentle, well mannered companions. A home without young children is a better fit for him. First time dog owners are welcome, since he's a low maintenance boy who doesn't need any special experience, just a soft place to rest and someone who enjoys his company.After a hard start at a puppy mill and a year of healing, Dooboo is ready for a calm home and a lap he can call his own. Whoever adopts him will be getting a gentle, undemanding little companion who says thank you with a tap of his paw.
