Story
Asparagus is a 13 year old pure breed Yorkshire terrier. We bought her as a puppy in 2013. She is independent and low key. Our son moved away and could not take the dog. She is in good health for her age. She does not wander but likes the outdoors and likes to be where you are. She is not well potty trained but she would be if someone one paid attention. She would be great pet for someone with the time and who is home most of the time. She is still pretty cute and very small. Under 5 pounds. My only requirement is that she be the only dog in the home. She is fine with other dogs as long as they are not aggressive toward her. If they leave her alone she will tolerate other animals well. Younger dogs annoy her. She is free.

Story
Pending adoption We have a transport leaving in May 22nd 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Cleo to our trip for the right family 😊 Cleo doesn’t enter a room… she arrives. At 2 years old and weighing in at just around 5–6 pounds fully grown, this darker tan beauty carries herself with a presence that feels so much bigger than her size. She is the diva of the trio—but in the most entertaining, endearing way. Cleo has opinions. She has personality. And she absolutely believes her voice matters… even when you didn’t ask for it 😂 She isn’t loud in an overwhelming way, but she does like to “talk” and be included. She wants to engage with you, to be part of what you’re doing, to feel like she belongs in every moment. There’s something so charming about the way she expresses herself—it makes you laugh, it pulls you in, and it makes life with her feel fuller. Cleo came to us with her sisters after their previous owner made the loving decision to surrender them due to time constraints. She has adjusted beautifully, bringing her confidence and spark with her into this next chapter. She is wonderful with other dogs and does great with cats as well. She is also very good with people, though like her sisters, she will need a patient home as she learns to navigate life outside of that sibling bond and grows into her own independence. Cleo is fantastic on road trips and settles in with ease, making her an amazing little companion wherever life takes you. She is also excellent at the groomer and handles grooming with confidence. She is pad trained and does well with routine. Because of her tiny size, she relies entirely on her person for outdoor time, including potty breaks. With consistency, she will follow your lead beautifully. Cleo is crate trained, meaning she sleeps comfortably and calmly in her crate through the night. She can also thrive in a small, secure, enclosed space if a crate isn’t preferred, as long as she feels safe and settled. She is not leash trained yet, which will be something her new family can work on with her. In the meantime, carrying her is easy, and it allows her to safely explore the world while building confidence at her own pace. Cleo is spayed and has received a dental cleaning. She will go home current on vaccines, microchipped, and with a full veterinary exam and health certificate. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_cleo-1 Cleo is for someone who wants personality… who wants connection… who wants a little voice in their life that reminds them every day that love can be expressive, playful, and full of life.

We would love to add Luna to our trip for the right family 😊 There is something about Luna that you don’t fully understand until you’ve had her in your arms… and then suddenly, nothing else matters. Luna is the black-coated beauty of this trio, and while she may be small in size, right around that 5–6 pound mark at 2 years of age, her heart is expansive in a way that feels almost human. She is the true sweetheart. The one who leans in just a little closer, who watches you with soft, knowing eyes that feel like they’re truly seeing you. She doesn’t demand attention… she draws you in. Quietly. Naturally. The kind of presence that feels like peace. Luna came to us alongside her siblings after their previous owner made the incredibly difficult but loving decision to surrender them due to a demanding schedule that no longer allowed her to be present in the way these girls deserved. That love is something Luna has carried with her, and you can feel it in how deeply she bonds. She is wonderful with other dogs and does beautifully with cats as well. She is also very gentle with people, though she will need a patient and understanding home as she continues navigating life outside of her sisters—learning what it means to stand confidently on her own and build that one-on-one bond with her person. Luna is incredibly quiet by nature and not a barker. The only time you’ll hear her little voice is when she’s happy or excited—she has the sweetest way of “talking” in those moments that will absolutely melt you. She is great on road trips of any length and settles in beautifully, making her an easy companion whether it’s a quick errand or a long journey. She is also wonderful at the groomer and handles the process with ease. Luna is pad trained and does very well with consistency. Due to her tiny size, she is fully dependent on her person for outdoor time—including potty breaks—so a structured routine will be important if her adopter prefers transitioning her fully outside. She is crate trained, and for us that means she sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate without distress. She can also do very well in a small, safe, confined area if a crate is not preferred, as long as that space is secure and comforting for her. Luna is not leash trained yet, so that will be something her new family will work on with her. Given her size, she is very easy to carry while she builds confidence and learns to enjoy the world from the ground up at her own pace. She is spayed and has received a full dental cleaning. She will also go home current on vaccines, microchipped, and with a full veterinary exam and health certificate. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_luna-3 reflecting the care and preparation she has received. Luna is not just looking for a home… she is looking for her person. The one she can quietly love with her whole heart.

The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Honey to our trip for the right family 😊 Honey is the kind of little girl who doesn’t rush into your heart… she gently finds her way there, and once she does, she stays forever. At just 11 months old and weighing right around 7–8 pounds, Honey is fully grown and perfectly petite. She is a Maltese/Yorkie mix with the soft, silky coat of a Maltese and just the sweetest little Yorkie features peeking through in her face and ears. She truly is the most beautiful blend of both breeds—delicate, feminine, and absolutely endearing. Honey came to us needing a little time, a little patience, and a lot of love—and she has blossomed so beautifully in our care. She can be shy when first meeting new people, but this is not a dog who stays in her shell forever. With just a little patience, her personality begins to shine, and when it does, you’ll see the sweetest, most loyal little companion unfold right in front of you. She is wonderful with other dogs and does great with cats as well. She is also very gentle with people and children, making her a beautiful addition to a loving, patient home. Once Honey gives you her heart, it is yours completely—she bonds deeply and loves quietly but fully. Honey is doing very well with her house training. She understands going outside and follows the lead of the other dogs here beautifully. With that said, she thrives on routine, and we strongly recommend her next home provides a consistent schedule to help her continue succeeding. She has come such a long way with car rides. When she first arrived, she experienced some car sickness, but through consistency and short trips around town, she has completely overcome that and is now learning to truly enjoy being part of the journey. She is becoming a wonderful little road trip companion. She is great at the groomer and handles grooming with ease, which is so important for a coat like hers that will require regular maintenance every 6–8 weeks. Her leash training is coming along nicely. She is still building confidence, but she is learning and improving, and with continued patience and exposure, she will only continue to grow in this area. Inside the home, Honey has beautiful manners. She enjoys playing but is not destructive in any way. She is just as content lounging nearby or entertaining herself as she is curling up close when invited. She brings a very peaceful, easy energy into the home. Honey is crate trained, which means she sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate and will also use it during the day when she wants to rest. She finds comfort in having her own little space. She is also a very quiet dog and not a barker, which has been such a lovely trait. Honey is scheduled to be spayed this week and will be thoroughly vetted and cleared by our veterinarian prior to adoption. She will go home current on vaccines, microchipped, and with a full veterinary exam and health certificate. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/honey-2 which reflects the care she has received while with us. Honey is not for someone looking for instant confidence. She is for someone who understands that the most meaningful bonds are built over time… someone who will give her the space to open up, the patience to grow, and the love to become everything she is meant to be. And when she does… she will be yours, completely. 💗

Story
Pending adoption for our June 2026 transport 🩵 We have a transport leaving in June of 2026 (date to be determined) from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add our handsome boy to our trip for the right family 💕 There is something so quietly special about Ziggy. Born 2/22/24, this tiny Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix weighs right around 5½ pounds full grown, and every ounce of him feels like sweetness wrapped into one petite little soul. With a Shih Tzu mama and Yorkie daddy, Ziggy carries the best of both breeds into one gentle, loving companion who is simply ready to belong to someone. Ziggy has a soft, steady nature about him. He is the kind of dog who doesn’t need to be the center of attention to be noticed. He wins hearts in a quieter way, through the way he looks at you, follows you from room to room, and settles beside you as if he has always belonged there. He is deeply content just being near his person. If you are looking for a little shadow to share your days with, Ziggy may be exactly who your heart has been searching for. His previous owner made the loving and selfless decision to surrender him because her demanding work schedule meant Ziggy was spending too much time alone. She knew one of his greatest love languages was companionship and wanted more for him than long days waiting for someone to come home. That kind of love gave him the chance to find the life he truly deserves now. Ziggy is calm, serene tempered, and wonderfully easy to have in the home. He is not high energy, not noisy, and not demanding. He is curious in the sweetest little way, but overall he carries himself with such peaceful energy. He is the type who would happily sit beside you at a park bench and people watch, take in the world, and simply enjoy being included. Because of his tiny size, Ziggy does need to be accompanied outside for potty breaks due to wildlife concerns. He relies on his people to safely bring him out throughout the day. He also understands puppy pads if his new family prefers that setup instead. He is crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night in his own little bed, though if given the chance, he would absolutely love sleeping close to his person in bed or nearby outside of the crate. Leash walking was never really introduced in his prior home, so that will be something new to learn if walks are part of his future. With that said, his little size makes him incredibly easy to bring along anywhere in a carrier, sling, stroller, or tucked lovingly into your arms. Ziggy is wonderful with other dogs, cats, men, women, and children alike. He also does perfect at the groomers and stands like an angel on the table. He travels beautifully in the car and has already enjoyed road trips with us. Ziggy is the kind of dog for someone who values tenderness, closeness, peace, and quiet companionship. He does not need a big life. He just needs a loving one. His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/ziggy This includes his neuter, dental cleaning and polish, vaccines, microchip, and a thorough exam with our vet. It also helps cover the months of care, training, grooming, and love poured into him while he has been with us. Ziggy is freshly groomed and ready to begin the next beautiful chapter of his life.

Story
Meet Pepper, a sweet Yorkie mix, a tiny lady with a big heart and an important job: professional snuggler, treat enthusiast, and fearless squirrel patrol officer. She is good with most dogs when given slow, respectful introductions, so she may do well with a canine buddy who understands that friendships take a minute. She is not crate-trained and would do best in a home that can give her comfort, patience, and a little freedom. She also prefers fresh dog food and will need gentle reminders for potty breaks, so a consistent routine will help her thrive. Pepper is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she is close to her people. At night, her favorite place to sleep is right next to her humans, where she can be cozy and feel part of the family. This lovely girl is looking for a home where she can be spoiled, snuggled, and appreciated for the charming little queen she is. If you are looking for a loyal companion with personality, sweetness, and just the right amount of sass, she may be your perfect match. *Pepper has been diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. We are actively looking for a long term fospice for Pepper.
