Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/ ** Walker Texas Ranger is a handsome 1-year-old Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier blend who weighs approximately 10 pounds. He has a sweet temperament and is active and playful. Though Walker is an adorable dog, he is a diamond in the rough. He arrived to our rescue as an owner surrender from a family who did not take the time to train him or provide attention. Walker is very loving and seeks out human interaction but his tendency to jump up for attention may be overwhelming for a home with infants or toddlers. Walker would do well in a home with another playful dog. His foster home has several senior dogs who find his playfulness annoying so he may not be suited for a home with older pets. He is extremely active and inquisitive. He is doing well on housebreaking but will need additional reinforcement with crate training. When Walker was surrendered to us, he was extremely matted. So it was necessary to shave him down. He is a long-haired breed and will require daily brushing and regular grooming appointments every 6 - 8 weeks. Household members will also need to exercise caution when opening and closing doors to ensure that Walter does not slip outside or that a door inadvertently closes on him. Walker must never be left unattended while outside as large raptors, such as hawks and owls, can attack and kill small pets. Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for his entire life (up to 15+ years or more.) You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. His adoption fee is $350. This includes his neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, Tri-Heart® Plus chewable tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org. Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references, and criminal histories. Our adoption events are held each Saturday at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio TX 78232. Event hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional questions may be directed to sagdinfo@gmail.com. ** This dog is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX.
