Story
Approximate Age: 1 year Approximate Weight: 12 lbs Rabbit Race 🐇💨 A playful, toy-obsessed goofball with big puppy energy and an even bigger personality. ● About 12 lbs and needs to gain a bit of weight; chicken is his protein ● Loves toys — often carries two at once and is very toy-motivated ● Playful, fun, loving, and thrives as a companion dog ● Medium energy: loves to play hard, then settles nicely when playtime is over ● Puppy-like behavior: can be stubborn, chooses when to listen, and needs continued training ● Mouthy when excited — nips during play or movement; easily redirected with toys ● Good with kids, but best with children 10+ due to mouthiness and jumping ● Sleeps peacefully in his crate all night and keeps it clean ● Eats in his crate, has a good appetite, food motivated, and takes treats gently ● Potty manners are mostly solid — goes outside and does not mark; routine will help perfect this ● Walks well on leash solo; when walked with another dog he may nip at them ● Rides quietly in the car in a travel kennel ● Can be vocal at first; loud bark may surprise at the beginning ● Does well when left gated — may whine briefly, then settles ● Bathing is no problem; brushing/drying goes best with a toy to hold ● Gets along with other dogs but may need a short decompression period, especially with smaller pets Fun facts: ● Looks like the classic cartoon coyote 🐺 ● Hops around the yard like a bunny — fast and adorable (hence the name Rabbit Race!) Rabbit Race is a joyful, energetic pup who will thrive with training, structure, and a home ready to embrace his silly, puppy-style enthusiasm. ********************************************************************* Schedule a meet-and-greet by completing our Adoption Survey on the Adopt page of our website at https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-survey. Story
Ranger came to us as a puppy and has been a cherished part of our family for the past 10 years. With heavy hearts, we’ve come to the difficult decision that we need to find him his forever home. Ranger is a typical Yorkie. He’s anxious, has separation anxiety, incredibly sweet, loving, and is need of plenty of attention He has done well with our dogs He is full of energy, and thrives on attention and companionship. We are hoping to find a retired individual or couple who has the time, patience, and love to give ranger the life he deserves.

Story
Poppi’s elderly owners both passed away. Their caretaker had agreed with his owner to care for Poppi until he passed, but she gave him up instead. Poppi enjoys long walks despite being a senior. He just wants to be with his humans, but also loves his foster sister Sophie, a rambunctious pup. He knows the resident kitty is about his size so he just leaves her be. Poppi is housetraind and enjoys hanging out in his crate if the door is left open.  He came to us with very bad teeth and required a major dental. Now that is healing, he is a lot happier. If you are a yorkie person, this is your guy.Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org December 1, 2025, 11:03 pm

Story
Meet PeeWee: Small Dog, Big Rules 🐾 At just 10 lbs, 4.5-year-old Yorkie mix PeeWee is living proof that dynamite comes in small packages… and occasionally explodes if you don’t respect personal space. Small, scrappy, and selective. I’m basically the bouncer at the club of my own affection, if you’re on the list, you get VIP cuddles. If you’re not? Keep your hands to yourself, Karen. Here’s the deal: PeeWee is adorable, but he’s not that random-friendly-pet-me-at-PetSmart kind of adorable. If you try to touch him without an invitation, he’s happy to give you a quick reminder that he did not consent. Once you’re in his trusted circle, though? Boom—you’re his ride-or-die. He’ll be your shadow, your lap warmer, your TV-watching buddy, and possibly your therapist if you pay him in treats. PeeWee has a very specific roommate policy: no other pets, no exceptions. He’s the leading man in his own sitcom, and there’s no room for sidekicks stealing the spotlight. If you’re looking for a pint-sized companion with a huge personality, a selective guest list, and a serious commitment to his people, PeeWee is ready to sign the adoption papers, once he decides you’re worthy. Story
Zuri Yorkie/Poo Female Grey/Blonde 9 years old 8 lbs Meet Zuri! Zuri is a calm, affectionate senior girl who truly shines when she’s with her people. She forms close bonds with those she loves and enjoys being nearby, quietly following you from room to room when she’s awake, then settling in for her daily naps. Zuri is well-mannered, housetrained, and low energy, making her an easy and pleasant companion to have around the home. She may take some time getting used to a new home and lacks the constant energy of a puppy, but she enjoys leisurely walks and is always happy to cuddle up for some quality snuggle time. Zuri is not reactive to other dogs and rarely ever barks. With her gentle nature and loyal heart, Zuri would make a devoted companion and a perfect snuggle buddy for someone seeking a loving, easygoing friend. Please Note: **No children under 10!** If you are interested in adopting ZURI, please go to our website www.somersetcottagepoodlerescue.org to see our adoption process and download the adoption application, Zuri's adoption donation is $595

Story
Introducing Zach! 💛 Zach is a 9-year-old Yorkie with the sweetest little soul and a face that could melt anyone on sight. This handsome guy lives for snuggles — if you pick him up, he’ll happily stay in your arms as long as you’ll let him. He currently weighs around 10lbs and would benefit from losing 3–4lbs to get to his healthiest self. He’s a little chunky, but that just adds to his teddy-bear charm right now. 🧸 Zach is funny, playful, and has the cutest personality — he’ll even give a tiny bark to politely let you know he’d like to be held. He’s friendly with kids, cats, and other dogs, making him a great fit for just about any loving home. He is potty-pad trained, knows to go outside, neutered, UTD on vaccinations, and ready for his forever family. If you’re looking for a gentle senior sweetheart who wants nothing more than to be your little shadow, Zach is your boy. 🐾💙 RPACI is a non profit rescue, and currently possess our 501C3 to operate as such. Please visit us on Facebook: Rebecca's Paws and Claws in Remlap and our website: www.rpacirescue.org.
