Story
Meet Freddy. Freddy is a young, Great Pyrenees with a heart as big as his spirit. With an inquisitive mind and a playful attitude, he’s always ready to make new friends, both human and furry! Freddy is very shy at first, and it takes him some time to trust and open up, but he’s beyond sweet and gentle. Freddy is an affectionate soul who loves nothing more than a good cuddle and the warmth of a loving home. Freddy would need a family who give this young boy the puppy structure and training he needs, even though he’s already crate and leash trained. Freddy does very well on walks and in public, but again is shy towards strangers. Freddy would love to live with another confident dog, to show him the ropes. With his bright and kind personality, Freddy is sure to bring joy, love, and laughter to his new family. Are you the one he’s been waiting for? Story
How this pet arrived: Sally was brought in by a community member on December 18, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Sally! Sally came in with her puppies and totally rocked the mom life. Now that her babies are grown, she's ready to be the star of her own next chapter! She might be a little shy at first, but give her a moment and you'll be rewarded with her signature tail swooshes and a big, happy smile. Sally loves her outdoor time and will happily chase a tennis ball or soak up all the attention she can get. While Sally is a sweetheart with people but she has shown some reactive behavior toward other dogs. Because of this, we feel that she would do best as the only dog in the home. However, if there is another resident dog, they must be over 50 lbs to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone and we ask that you bring them in for a meet-and-greet! Sally would do best with kids ages 8 and up and we ask that everyone in the household should come along for the meet and greet - Sally wants to make sure her future family passes the vibe check! If you're looking for a loveable pup who's sure to add joy to your home, come meet Sally today! At SDHS:Sally has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home! Story
How this pet arrived:Astrid was brought in by a community member on May 8, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you: Astrid came into our care as a stray and is a big, beautiful girl looking for a patient and understanding home. Astrid does best when allowed to move at her own pace. Given time and space, she will approach to sniff, accept treats, and begin building trust. She will need time to adjust to a new home, but with a patient and supportive family, she has all the potential to thrive.Keeping her world small and predictable at first will support a smooth transition into her new home. Astrid would do best in a home with children ages 10+ and all children must be present during the interaction process. With patience and kindness, Astrid has the potential to truly blossom. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for adoption!Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.
