Story
How this pet arrived: Pickles was brought in by his previous owner on August 16, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Pickles! This clever, curious boy is kind of a big dill. He has a thoughtful nature and prefers to ease into new situations with calm, gentle introductions. Once he's settled, his playful and engaging side really starts to relish the moment. Pickles enjoys activities that keep his mind busy - training, puzzle toys and positive reinforcement are right up his alley. He thrives in a peaceful, low-traffic home where his personal space is respected and life stays nice and easy. New people and dogs can be a bit jar-ring for Pickles, so he's best suited for a quieter home with older kids only, who should be present for the meet-and-greet. He's selective with canine companions and may prefer being the only pickle in the jar, though a shelter meet-and-greet is available if there's a potential dog sibling. Having spent much of his time outdoors, Pickles would benefit from a securely fenced yard as he transitions into home life. With patience and consistency, he'll stick by his person and prove himself a truly spectacular companion. If you're looking for a smart, unique dog with just the right amount of zing, Pickles is ready to be your pickle! At SDHS:Pickles has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Pickles is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Black Weight: 73.6 Age: 2yrs 9mths 1wks

Story
Laika is one of the sweetest, loving, snuggly dogs we have known and it is difficult to part with her. Shes athletic, strong and a natural guardian dog to all animals. Shes will be best friends with any animal on your property and gentle with small children. Ideally, you should have farm animals like sheep or goats. Her bread will get board if not and chew things like irrigation, dig and is stubborn about potty training and other commands. This is part of the Great Pyrenees bread to be left alone, independent thinkers. They are perfect as an outdoor dog with farm animals in a barn or where they have access to them most the day to protect against coyotes. They are sensitive and need your affection, positive feedback and love. This breed is not for inexperienced dog owners or city dwellers. If you have the right environment for Laika, she will be the best dog you can imagine.

Story
Moses came to us a broken sole after spending over 8 months in a field homeless. When first spotted, all efforts to help him were made with no luck. As time went on he was getting weaker. Soon prayers were answered and he went in the trap. He was skin and bones, full of stickers. His ear was torn and his face and body showing evidence of a struggle to survive. We have been able to provide love, care, and lots of good meals for this king. He is a Great Pyrenees, about 8 years old. He is very gentle and kind to everyone he meets. He will be neutered in 2 weeks as he is dreaming of a loving home. Who will cherish this fine boy?

Story
How this pet arrived: Kona was brought in by her previous owner on December 6, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Kona! This gorgeous brindle girl who is looking for a new home! She's been a bit fearful in our care, but with slow introductions and patience, her warm, affectionate side truly shines. Once she feels safe, Kona is the kind of pup who loves soaking up pets, riding shotgun on car adventures, and enjoying a breezy day at the beach. Kona is both crate trained and potty trained, giving her a great head start in her new home. She has done well with other dogs out and about, but she prefers not to share her favorite people - so she's looking to be the only dog in the home. Any kids in the household will need to meet her ahead of time to ensure it's a great fit for everyone. If you're looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little time to blossom, Kona may be your perfect match! Come in and ask about adopting today! At SDHS:Kona has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Kona is now ready for her new home! Shy/Fearful Dog: Kona requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her. Primary Color: Brindle Weight: 60.4 Age: 3yrs 7mths 4wks
