Story
You will love Max to the MAX! He is a uniquely handsome and oh-so-soft soft boy! He loves people, his tail is always wagging upon approach, and he expects pets from everyone. He IS quite irresistable, so his fosters regularly indulge him! His foster calls him "a sweetie" who really loves belly rubs. Max is housebroken, and he knows basic commands, like, "sit" and "paw." The fosters are currently working on the "stay" and "down" commands. Max does listen when corrected, he knows his name, and he will come when called. Max is good on leash, and although he is large, he is easy to walk. He always excited to get out into the neighborhood to see the world around him. Max is still young, just over one-year old, so he is quite energetic, "not crazy, but enthusiastic," is how his foster describes his energy level. Max will need a fence at his new home as he is tall and he can jump quite high, so a six-foot-tall fence would be necessary.  Max is great with other dogs, enjoys a parallel run or a game of chase, and he reads social cues well. Max does well in the car, he jumps in readily, and loves to have the windows down so he can smell the fresh air. "A teenager" is how Max's foster describes him, meaning that he is still learning his boundaries, but is very steerable (and with a treat or two) will pick up commands and rules very quickly.  Right now, Max sleeps next to his foster's bed, with baby gates to keep him secure. He does not like the crate and is overcoming some separation anxiety. We don't know much about his history, so we trust that once he feels safe and secure, his anxiety will ease. Max will make a wonderful playmate and snuggle buddy, backyard ball-chaser, and loyal companion for his forever person! (Check out the videos below to see Max in action!) PAW adopts in the MD, DC, VA, and northern PA area only. ##2670840##

Story
River is an old soul looking for his soulmate - could you be his person?  River had a tough start in life and came to PAW quite frightened of the world.  With the endless love and dedication of his foster family he has begun to feel secure - and to blossom.  Now he needs to find his forever home where a loving adopter will continue the process to help him to become the dog he is meant to be. River is a gentle giant.  At 2 & 1/2 and 70 pounds, he is a big fluffy love bug.  At first River can be anxious around new people and in new environments - but once warmed up, he loves people (including children) and other dogs. In fact, River must have another dog in the house as he follows the lead of his current foster brother and has learned so much from him! River loves running and playing in the yard.  Because he is still working on leash walking, River's forever home must have a fenced-in yard.  It will be important to continue leash training and exposure to new situations. This is the best way to build River's confidence and to teach him that the wide world is a fun place to explore!  River's daily medication helps calm him down, and this is something that his forever person will need to continue for River's benefit and comfort.  If you think you could be the one for River, apply to adopt today! PAW places animals in the DC, MD, northern VA, and southern PA area only. ##1836418##
