Story
River is an old soul looking for his soulmate - could you be his person?  River had a tough start in life and came to PAW quite frightened of the world.  With the endless love and dedication of his foster family he has begun to feel secure - and to blossom.  Now he needs to find his forever home where a loving adopter will continue the process to help him to become the dog he is meant to be. River is a gentle giant.  At 2 & 1/2 and 70 pounds, he is a big fluffy love bug.  At first River can be anxious around new people and in new environments - but once warmed up, he loves people (including children) and other dogs. In fact, River must have another dog in the house as he follows the lead of his current foster brother and has learned so much from him! River loves running and playing in the yard.  Because he is still working on leash walking, River's forever home must have a fenced-in yard.  It will be important to continue leash training and exposure to new situations. This is the best way to build River's confidence and to teach him that the wide world is a fun place to explore!  River's daily medication helps calm him down, and this is something that his forever person will need to continue for River's benefit and comfort.  If you think you could be the one for River, apply to adopt today! PAW places animals in the DC, MD, northern VA, and southern PA area only. ##1836418##

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/genericYou can learn about the adoption process by visiting:  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.  Dog's Name:   Rascal (RAS0825ARKMD) Estimated Breed:  Aussie / Catahoula mix Approximate Age:  8-9 monthsApproximate Weight:  72 LBS Currently Living at:  Foster  Adoption Fee:  $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION:   RascalMeet Rascal, a sweet and fun boy who has mastered the art of puppy eyes. He and his siblings were rescued from a rural pack in Arkansas, where they lived outside with their mom and other dogs. Life wasn’t always easy, but thanks to K-9 Lifesavers, Rascal is now safe and searching for a family of his own. He’s social, loves other dogs, and is eager to soak up training and adventures with his new people. If you’re looking for a pup to make every day brighter, Rascal is ready to keep you smiling. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/. Story
This is Teddy! He is 10 months old and 65 lbs. He was found as a stray in Southern Virginia but was clearly loved at some point. Teddy is the fluffiest fluff you will ever meet. When people describe dogs as 'man's best friend' they are referring to Teddy! He loves all humans that he meets and will gladly sit and let you give him all the attention. He is still very much a puppy and is learning good indoor manners. He is good with other large breed dogs, walks great on leash, and is the perfect mix calm and playful. Interested in learning more about Teddy? Apply at www.novapetsalive.org/adopt. *Teddy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, is negative for Tick Borne Diseases and Heartworm, was given dewormer and monthly preventatives, and is microchipped.
