Story
I adopted Mojo and his sister, Maggie, from Howard County Animal Shelter in 2020. They were a bonded pair, Akbash breed, and the shelter was having trouble finding a home for them together, so I adopted them. Maggie was ill with hypothyroidism and epilepsy and died in November 2024. Mojo is a wonderful dog with all humans and other dogs, but he is a livestock protector and will kill cats. I live in an area with stray cat colonies, and he has gotten away from me several times when he sees a cat. I love cats and it is hard for me to live with a dog that kills cats. I love Mojo but he is so hard for me to manage. He weighs130 pounds and can get away from me easily. I did have a dog walker, but he is unable to walk Mojo anymore. It's also hard to afford the daily cost of a dog walker. I am looking for a home with someone who has a large fenced in yard and who can walk him every day. He is old and easy to walk unless he sees an animal he perceives as prey.

This approximately 3-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix is the total package: handsome, well-mannered, and ready to find his forever family. Max is an easygoing guy who gets along with other dogs, does well with cats, and is wonderful with people of all sizes. Kids? Adults? Tiny humans? Tall humans? Max is happy to make friends with them all! Even better, Max is already house-trained! No need to start from scratch with this big guy. He's neutered, fully vaccinated, and ready to trade shelter life for a couch, a yard, and a family to call his own. If you've been looking for a loyal, loving companion with a heart as big as his paws, Max might just be your guy. Joker and Jedi are two brothers, estimated to be around 2 years old, who have been through more together than any dogs should have to endure. They were abandoned and left to survive on their own, relying on each other every step of the way. We believe Joker was even hit by a car during that time—but through it all, these two brothers never left each other’s side. Today, their story looks very different. Safe at the rescue, Joker and Jedi have shown us just how incredible they are. Despite everything they’ve experienced, they are outgoing, loving, and full of joy. In fact, their friendly personalities are so wonderful that they now help us socialize other dogs and show them that people—and life—can be pretty great. These brothers love spending time outside exploring and enjoying the day, but with all that fur, they know when it’s time to head inside! Once the temperatures rise, you’ll find them happily stretched out in the air conditioning, relaxing with their favorite humans. Joker and Jedi are the definition of resilience. They survived together, healed together, and now they’re ready for the best chapter of their story—a life filled with love, comfort, and a family of their own.
