She is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and deeply devoted to the people she considers “hers.” Once she bonds with you, she is a total love bug who thrives on attention and connection. Dolly is playful and fun-loving—she enjoys playing fetch, being chased, and engaging in interactive play. She is very food-motivated and easily encouraged with treats, which has helped her succeed in multiple rounds of training. She is crate trained, potty trained, and does very well in her kennel while her owner is away, especially since she’s used to a large, comfortable setup where she can move around and relax. She can be wary and easily startled around new people and takes time to warm up, but patience and treats go a long way. Once she feels safe with adults, she becomes affectionate and trusting. Dolly does well with animals and currently lives peacefully with another dog, a cat, and even chickens. She is curious but respectful with other animals. Dolly does best in a calm environment and is not a good fit for homes with young children she doesn’t know. While she is great with her owner’s seven-year-old daughter, unfamiliar small children make her nervous and she may growl or bark when overwhelmed. She would truly thrive in a farm or rural setting with someone who is home most of the day and can give her the reassurance, structure, and companionship she needs. Dolly has experienced some separation anxiety but is improving steadily and continues to make great progress. She is looking for a patient, experienced home that understands guardian-type breeds and can give her the time and love she deserves.

Window-down certified, calm and unbothered by the world around her... this is Sally. She has an easy presence, is happy to be included, never makes a big fuss about it, and somehow still ends up being everyone’s favorite part of the day. As always with rescue, breed and age are our best guess. What we do know for sure is that she is calm, easygoing, and deeply committed to the simple things in life- a car ride with the windows down, a tasty treat, a little sweet talk, and a soft spot to relax. She is fostered with other dogs and does just fine around them, but Sally is not looking for a booked social calendar. She greets new dogs politely, keeps it short and sweet, and then goes right back to focusing on what really matters... namely peace, comfort, and perhaps a snack. She would be perfectly content as your one and only, but also enjoys the company of easy-going, relaxed dog friends. Inside the home, Sally settles in beautifully. She is quiet, easy company, and has a wonderful sense of her size, which is always appreciated with larger dogs. She feels like the kind of dog who understands how to live with people in a way that is gentle and natural. No chaos, no constant demands, just a lovely steady presence by your side. And if you needed even more proof that she is a gem, Sally recently spent time with a 5-year-old and was an absolute perfect lady. She was gentle taking treats, listened to commands, and calmly held a front row seat for an impromptu three-minute cartwheel routine. Honestly, it was giving proud Grandma vibes and we loved seeing it. Sally would be such a beautiful fit for a home where life moves at a softer pace. Buddy feels like the kind of dog who should come with a porch, a couple acres, and a standing invitation to be included in absolutely everything. Big ol’ smoosh-face energy, giant-hearted best friend, enthusiastic walking buddy, couch snuggler, toy collector, daycare socialite… he somehow manages to be both a “let’s go do stuff!” dog and a “perfectly content melting into the couch beside you” dog all at once. At just about a year old and already 87 lbs, Buddy is a young dog with growing and learning still to do, but what shines through immediately is just how social, affectionate, and genuinely good-natured he is. Rescue rules apply, so breed and age are our best guess, but we suspect some Anatolian/Pyrenees/Lab type magic in the mix. After a thoughtful introduction period, he now spends his days playing, lounging, sharing space, and generally enjoying life alongside his dog friends. He has also attended daycare with dogs of all sizes and continues to show himself to be social, playful, and appropriately communicative with other dogs. One of the things we really loved seeing during our time with him outside of his foster home was how nicely he reads the room with other dogs. He enjoys play, absolutely, but he also takes breaks, respects dogs that are not interested, and recovers quickly from moments of stress without overreacting. People? Buddy thinks people are excellent. He was loving and confident with everyone he met, happily accepted handling, rolled over for affection, and handled new environments, noises, and activity with an easygoing attitude. When we spent the afternoon with him he was surrounded by new people and he soaked up attention from strangers like it was his full-time job. He especially gives off that “big friendly dog at the brewery patio hoping someone shares fries” kind of charm. His foster lovingly calls him “Smoosh Face” because one of his favorite activities is snuggling up on the couch beside his people. Despite his size and playful side, he settles beautifully in the home. He enjoys chew toys, rotates through the toy basket, happily entertains himself, and is very capable of winding down after exercise or play. His foster describes him as smart, eager, and quick to learn, and he already kennels on command at home. He rides well in the car too, calmly hopping in and relaxing for the trip. Now, Buddy is still a young, large dog, and occasionally that youthful enthusiasm shows up in the form of “I would very much like to play RIGHT NOW.” His foster notes that he can sometimes be a little slow to pick up on their older dog’s “leave me alone” signals, not in a concerning way, just in that lovable young-dog way where the brain occasionally takes a second to catch up to the body. Overall though, his social skills are genuinely very nice. Buddy would thrive with an adopter who understands large breed dogs and has room in both their home and lifestyle for a young dog who still needs continued guidance and structure. What we are seeing right now is a well-socialized, stable young dog, with likely livestock guardian genetics, so adopters should be thoughtful of this as he matures. Right now he is wonderfully social and easygoing, and continued positive exposure, leadership, and appropriate boundaries will help him continue growing into the best version of himself. He could potentially live in a larger apartment with an active adopter committed to daily outings and exercise, but truthfully, Buddy would probably be happiest with space to stretch his legs, a yard to roam, and people who enjoy including their dog in everyday life. He has done well around cats in controlled settings, though we would recommend dog-savvy cats and thoughtful introductions. Older kids or teens would likely be a lovely fit given his size and youthful enthusiasm. His foster family cannot say it with more heart when they share how wonderfully he has blossomed into a deeply affectionate, social, happy dog who clearly loves being part of a family. There is something really special about a rescued street dog who chooses trust again so fully.
