Story
FOSTER/FOSTER TO ADOPT NEEDED Kip is a great dog! He will be 3 years old in June. He is an Akbash He's very social, loves people! He has been with his owner since he was a 5-month old puppy with boundless energy. He has grown into a 90 lb. affectionate beauty with boundless energy! Kip has great markings, a beautiful coat, is well fed and is a very strong, healthy dog. He does like to jump up and greet everyone, doesn't realize his size (around 90 lbs.) and his manners are rough. He's a good watchdog, He barks to let me know when someone is at the door or in the yard. He loves to play and run and cannot be off leash so a fenced in yard is required. He was crate trained early, but I don't use the crate very often now. However, it's a safe zone for him if he wants it, so the door is always open. He is completely free to have the run of the house 24 hours a day when I'm home, and when I'm out for a couple of hours. He has never done his business in the house. He is trained to go to the door and bark when he needs to go out. He loves to cuddle on the couch, and especially loves it when I say "upstairs" because that means we go upstairs while I do chores or laundry, he takes a nap on the bed or he chews on one of his many toys. He loves a big bed to sprawl out on. He is not a destroyer, but does chew his toys. He walks sedately on a lead, no pulling or jumping. He does need a fenced in yard. He's never been loose to run freely. He loves to be petted and his ears and belly scratched, he will nudge your hand with his nose as you walk alongside him in the house or on a lead. He has never been around small children, so can't attest to how he would do. HIs size and jumping habit might not be good for younger children. He gets along with other dogs in small groups, but gets overwhelmed by "kennel" dog groupings. He does best with dogs of his own size so no little dogs please. Adoption fee of $250 required, located in Delavan WI

Story
Some dogs just get it—they move through the world with quiet grace, calm energy, and the kind of loyal heart that makes every day better. That’s Wanda. This girl is the total package when it comes to manners and home life. She’s fully housebroken, sleeps quietly in her crate, walks beautifully on leash, and doesn’t chew or destroy things in the home. She thrives on routine, is affectionate without being clingy, and will quietly lay nearby while you work, relax, or move through your day. She has a love for adventure, particularly water, long hikes, and car rides!! Wanda is friendly and social with dogs out in the world. But when it comes to her home space, she prefers a quieter life where she doesn’t have to share her people. She’ll do best as the only dog in the home, where she can be your loyal companion and soak up all the love for herself. Wanda is not a fan of cats as she’s a bit too curious. A feline-free home is a must. A fenced yard would be a nice bonus for Wanda, but it's not required. What Wanda really wants is a steady, loving home where she can finally relax and be part of a family... her family. Apply online: HBWI.org. FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.
