Story
This pup is nothing short of amazing and has the best parts of a shepherd and an Akita. He wants to be part of the family and he will protect them until the bitter end. Kai wants a family so bad and has a strong love for the people who take care of him. Once he has settled in, Kai's happiness fills the home with joy. When you come home from a long day at work, Kai is there to greet you and wants nothing more than to listen and smell all about your day. This young loving amazing Shepherd gives unconditional love, and only wants to please you and take every command. He can be a little timid, but once he learns your love, he is extremely obedient and loving. Once you earn his love, that’s all you’re gonna get from him. He is a good boy who has been through some tough times who just wants a family all to his own. Kai currently lives with other dogs and does well with most of them. There are more assertive dogs that Kai is not a fan of. Kai is not recommended to live with cats due to prey drive. Kai has met children and done well with them with proper introductions, but would likely do best with older children only given his timid nature when first meeting new people. Kai would do best in a home that is experienced with Akitas, Shepherds, or a similar breed. Kai is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for complimentary private and/or group training to help ensure a successful adoption. If you would like to meet Kai to see if he is a good fit for your family, please fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Upon receipt of your application, one of our passionate volunteers will call you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet.

Story
**Currently in foster** I'm introducing myself to you as a very independent, a little shy, and intelligent dog. My name is XL Duck. And I didn't grow up socializing with people a lot. So it takes me some time to get used to new human beings. But once I know you, you are my best friend. I love running, and running, and running. I met quite a few dogs at the shelter, and they all became my friends therefore I'd love the company of another dog in my new home! When I was in a foster home, I was quiet and non-destructive, but preferred the company of other dogs. I've made a lot of human friends at the shelter, and I love to play with them and get scratches.  Interested in adopting? Visit our shelter during open hours and ask about XL Duck and A050126May 13, 2025, 5:03 pm

Story
Meet TOBI We don't know much about Tobi's past, but his future is very bright. He is a big boy with a heart the size to match. He is a gentle giant with a gregarious, carefree attitude and is eager to learn and experience the world. He is game for adventure and deserves to have that special someone to accompany him in life. Tobi is playful and has a welcoming aura about him. He also has an unabashed, confident side to him. He's just not sure how he ended up here, and we're making sure he never has to wonder that ever again. He is best as an only dog and someone with previous Akita experience is best. Tobi is approximately 5 yrs old, and due to his size should be on a good quality joint supplement. He's only been with us a short time, so will need to gain a few pounds to look his best, but he's already on his way to showing us his beautiful soul. Story
Meet HIROMI HIROMI was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. She is approx 4 yrs old and weighs 57 lbs. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Story
Meet Thunder! Are you ready to own your own wolf?! This guy sure looks like one - he currently weighs 80 lbs and is all legs! He is a Husky mix, but based on his appearance, we think dad was a Shepherd. This young man was actually born at our shelter on 3/18/2022 and adopted shortly after he was weaned off mama. His owner let us know that he no longer had the time to care for him, so he's sadly back with us. This guy has been used to the home life and does not belong at a shelter, so we hope he can find his new home quickly. Some of his best features: He's housetrained(!!), he's a fantastic house dog (no accidents or anxiety reported), he's neutered, vaccinated, and ready to go home with you today! His previous owners also told us that he lived with another dog and did fine, and he was great with kids; he just doesn't know his own size and can knock a youngen over on accident. Can you open your heart to a big boy that just needs one more shot at his forever home? $350.00 adoption fee includes his microchip, vaccines, neuter, and care at our shelter. Story
This beautiful Husky is 3 years old and weighs 43 pounds. She was originally adopted as a puppy from our shelter, but the owner was having to move into an apartment where no dogs her size were allowed. Kaia is a good girl who has been living in a home with a family with children. She is house trained, current on shots, microchipped and spayed. She has a good amount of energy, but is past all the puppy stuff. She enjoys going on walks, playing ball and knows some commands. She knows sit, down, roll over, spin and paw. Kaia has been an indoor and outdoor dog and is very friendly when meeting new people. She loves playing in water and plays well with other dogs. She will make a fun companion. $250.00 adoption.
