Story
Meet MILES MILES is new to our program and we are still getting to know him. What we do know is he and his female Shepherd companion found their way into an auto body shop seeking shelter and a cool place in the shade, which they found under an old RV. Seems they had been on their own for awhile. Animal control picked them up, although it wasn't clear if they were picked up together or if they'd become separated at some point. We can only hope she was adopted. Miles has settled nicely into the kennel and is now looking healthy and absolutely stunning! He's a big boy with a gentle nature and a very playful side. He loves attention and will give kisses and offer play bows. He also possesses typical Akita stubbornness and an independent nature. He will require a breed savvy owner, no exceptions. Miles currently weighs about 75 lbs. and probably can put on another pound or two. We think he is approximately 5-6 yrs old. We'll update with more information as we learn more about him. Stay tuned! If you are interested in adopting, please complete our adoption application found on our website here: https://www.namasteakitarescue.com/how-do-i-adopt There you will find helpful information about the adoption process, FAQ's, etc **PLEASE NOTE, we must first approve an application before a meeting can be arranged between a prospective adopter and our dogs. Story
Meet HIROMI HIROMI was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. She is approx 4 yrs old and weighs 57 lbs. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Story
This chill young lady is looking for her forever person. Nikki is guessed to be a young adult Akita/German Shepherd mix. She was found as a stray and pulled from a shelter in the Central Valley with a high euthanasia rate due to overcrowding. Someone obviously spent quality time with this well mannered young lady. She walks well on a leash, knows sit, takes her treats gently and sleeps quietly in her crate during the night. Nikki is estimated to be 2 years old and weighs 50 pounds. Nikki is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped (medical records available). Nikki is accustomed to being inside and is housebroken (of course she would need to learn the rules at your house.) She delights in walks. Nikki is very tolerant when being hugged and brushed. More than anything, Nikki loves people and does not feel threatened by strangers. She enjoys cuddling on a lap or just chilling next to her humans. She is a great traveler and eagerly loads herself in the vehicle. Nikki lives happily in her foster home with other dogs. It is unknown if Nikki gets along with cats, however she has no reaction to the shelter cats when introduced. If you think your home is a good match for Nikki, please email Sue at dogs@s2springer.com and describe a bit about the home you would provide for this young lady.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Kazhem is a very handsome, somewhat shy Akita mix who warms up slowly to new people. But once he is comfortable he will share his goofy personality with you, running zoomies in the grass and showing off his great smile and happy tail wag.He gets along great with other dogs on the beach, the trails and probably in the dog park, but would prefer to be the only doggo in his forever home. Once Kazhem bonds with you he`s very devoted and wants to be with you all the time. Retirees, professionals who work at home, and anyone else who could make him a part of their daily life would be his dream family!
