Story
The REALLY AWESOME DOGS don't stay long in rescue, and Sonny will be one of them. If you are ready to adopt and need a little more HAPPY in your life then come meet Sonny! This young (about a year old) and gorgeous guy is happy, playful, and incredibly smart. He loves to play tug-o-war, catch a ball, splash in water if he is lucky enough to have access to a small plastic kid's pool! It's not HIS fault his Human could not keep him, and like all dogs that live in the moment, he just wants to LOVE. He is dog-friendly (with other playful and respectful dogs) and would do great with an active family with kids. Sonny is in a foster home in Southern California (Santa Clarita Valley) and is Ready to Meet YOU now! Sonny is happy, healthy, neutered, has all current vaccinations, and is microchipped. He has his very own duffel bag which contains his brand new collar, leash, bed, bowl, and bag of high quality dog food. To meet Sonny, please reach out to us: angels@akitaangels.org October 22, 2024, 12:35 pm

Story
Ruger is an incredibly handsome 4 year old purebred American Akita. He is friendly to new people, affectionate with those he knows, and likes to play tug-o-war! When it's time to sleep, Ruger carries his "baby" (stuffed animal) around and then snuggles up with it.  Before coming into rescue, Ruger lived in a home with kids, and another dog. We think he would be happiest being an only dog, and in a home with  Like most Akitas, Ruger will do best in a home without other dogs, or children under the age of 18. Story
HIRO is a friendly, affectionate, and strikingly handsome 5 year old male Japanese/American Akita. He was surrendered to rescue after his family had to relocate to Korea and were unable to take Hiro with them. Hiro is a medium-large sized Akita, and weighs about 80lbs. He has a beautiful, soft, shiny blond coat and the sweetest, brightest dark brown eyes.  Hiro was very socialized as a young Akita, and has an easy-going temperament. He loves walks, car rides, or just hanging out with you. He would love nothing more than to be your loyal, lifelong, companion.     Visit our website at www.akitaangels.org. Story
MAIKO needs a Miracle - - - LOVELAND, COLORADO   Maiko has lived his entire life with his family, and after facing a life-changing situation, they have no other option but to rehome him. He has been loved - intensely - since he was a pup, and is well socialized, but like many Akitas, he would do best as an only dog in the home and in a home with kids older than 10.   He is going to turn 8 in March, is neutered, up to date with all his vaccinations, and is microchipped. He has no known health issues and has never been involved in a bite incident with a human or other dog.   His family is devastated and has asked for our help in rehoming him, and avoid him having to be moved to Southern California. Please share this post. He is located in Loveland, Colorado (Just North of Denver). October 22, 2024, 12:35 pm

Story
A5706794 Say hello to Frida , a 4-year-old Akita who’s basically a giant, fluffy teddy bear come to life! Her luxe coat is silky soft and impossibly plush, like petting a cloud, and her adorable little face and oversized cupcake paws are guaranteed to steal your heart. Frida may come off a bit aloof at first, but give her a moment and you’ll see her gentle, affectionate side shine through. She’s calm, sweet, and surprisingly easy to handle on leash - despite her big, huggable size. While she prefers to be the only pet and would do best in an adult-only home, she’ll reward your love with quiet loyalty and endless snuggles. Frida is ready to find her person - will it be you?       -4 year old white and grey Akita -99 pound spayed female -may need the standard round of shots and preventatives before she can go home with you, but the shelter can likely help with this! -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 6/14/25  as a stray -like a giant teddy bear! -silky soft, fluffiest of coats - so dense and plush, like petting a cloud -cute little face and giant cupcake paws, ready to wander their way into your heart -can be a bit aloof initially, but once she gets to know you, she warms up quickly and her true nature comes out -very calm and sweet - a bit different than the breed's classic personality -despite her size, she is very easy to leash and handle - however, no other dogs and an adult only home are still recommended   FRIDA’S VIDEO: https://youtube.com/shorts/YfU For more information, contact volunteer Lisa at lisaa@unitedhopeforanimals.org Photo Credit @ Sena Zimmer   Look up this or other animals at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center https://animalcare.lacounty.gov/view-our-animals/    Use their unique ID NUMBER. Story
#A5023039 Meet Rocky , a sweet, scruffy 9-year-old Akita boy who’s looking for love and a fresh start. This gentle senior has been through a lot, arriving underweight and in rough shape, but his resilient spirit still shines bright. With a cozy spa day and some TLC, his once-luxurious creamy coat will be back to its former glory. Rocky is hard of hearing and appreciates a calm, gentle approach, but he has so much love and loyalty left to give. He’s low energy, low maintenance, and would make a wonderful companion for a fellow senior looking for quiet, comforting company. Rocky is ready to spend his golden years in a home filled with kindness, peace, and care - will you be the one to give him that?   -9 year old white Akita -67 pound male - may need to be neutered before/after adoption, but the shelter can likely help with this! -may also need the standard round of shots and preventatives before he can go home with you, the shelter can likely help with these as well -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 6/9/25 as an owner surrender - but we have no notes and no idea why, as Rocky is the sweetest, gentlest thing! -sweet scruffy senior in need of a spa day, to help him be more comfortable and return his luxe creamy coat to its former glory -weary but resilient - has obviously had a difficult past, given his low weight and poor condition, but is still ready and willing to give you lots of love and loyalty for the rest of his days -hard of hearing, so requires a gentle approach -needs a loving rescue, foster, or adopter to give him the care and attention he needs to live out his golden years with dignity and comfort -low energy and low maintenance, other than a few common senior ailments, so could be an excellent match for a human senior looking for calm companionship   https://youtube.com/shorts/MC7TR38cg7I?si=DCrRri5nHhJPX0O3   For more information, contact volunteer Lisa at lisaa@unitedhopeforanimals.org ------- United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals.  This pet is part of our Shelter Support Program at the Baldwin Park Shelter.
